if someone is reading this and thinking of getting a 3D printer. avoid Bambu labs, one google search could tell you why
My experience with 3D printers in the past (not Bambu brand) has always been leveling frustration where it start to print, but then the nozzle gets jammed or after a couple mm of height it gets off track. I'm curious how often you set something up and it just prints without baby sitting it or adjustment? I'm ready to try again, but I'm looking for a >98% of time "it just works".
@ We’ve never had an issue with the machine during a print. It has never jammed or had issues with staying on track!
damn did ya delete my other comment?
@@scottbalak7123 get another brand. Bambu Labs is not the company you want to support.
You guys are the best! That tape measure from Milwaukee is awful. I also had one where the black plastic broke off. A comparable countertop with extremely thin edges is what I've constructed. We created a cross out of temporary supports that were two inches wide inside the sink area. We cut them out and installed the sink around ten days after they were put. Your family is just remarkable! I'm eager to find out what's happening with the barge.
I really like how you are upfront with how much you spend and save on all your projects. I enjoy watching all your videos.
You guys constantly show how hard and impossible work can be done gracefully, cheerfully, efficiently and with fantastic outcomes. That's truly inspiring.😊😊
Love how you are willing to try new things. Counters look good.
Look at the overall quality of the Build, it's most likely gonna get flipped really cheap. It's just a project to create content.
Just like most UA-camrs at one point they have to make stuff up to be able to create more content.
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that but what annoys me is when they make up bullshit stories about why they do it instead of straight up saying that it's just for making money like that would be something bad.
The countertops look great. If you don't like the rustic look of the concrete countertops, You can lightly wet send them until you get the texture you would prefer. I'm really surprised you didn't pour those in place. My little Homestead has done a series on how they poured concrete countertops in place for their kitchen
I love watching how hard you guys work. It’s no joke
Good morning Courtney & Riley! I am still in Palm Beach it is 80 degrees again. You have both accomplished so much since the truck life! ❤you both but Oliver is the star🙏🙏🙏Blessings
you not have recipes concrete on down below home depot see the bag 80 pound
You 2 are like the Wonder Duo! Is there nothing you 2 can't do!! OMG, we can not wait to rent the Air B&B!?!
This is great timing, I am doing countertops for my new kitchen. I even got the same sink! Been thinking on cement as cost is stupid about any other way. I got the P1P about a year ago it works great too.
I noticed that you commented 23 hours ago and the video has only been up for 5 hours. Is it because you are a member that gives you access to this video yesterday?
Wow...I really like the hard work you both put in with the work of use by YOUR hands!!! Amazing Results!!!
I love how Courtney does her best to annunciate the word caulk 😆
No L sound!
Do you blame her??? With all the AI. FAKERY on line nowadays 😢
Nice work folks. Bambu labs has a very good reputation. I'm glad you support them.
You should check the latest news about them. There are videos by Jeff Geerling and others
/sarcasm
Milwaukee Tapes are brutal, not just the auto lock. The tape is light and flimsy and the tang is big and bulky and too heavy for the light tape, can’t stick out very far without flopping side to side. I love the Milwaukee tools but the best tape measure is the Stanley Fat Max, the one with the magnet on the tang is great if you do metal work.
Another awesome video, you guys do such nice work and are a great team!
Looking outstanding. you guys are killing it.
"Best thing ever..." Loved the retraction/edit. 🙂
Received a power tool set from a military friend for Christmas and responded with the same "Best Gift Ever!" My friend was wise enough to shush me and I was fortunate my wife didn't hear. LOL
Awesome job. Counter tops look great.
Great work guys its looking fab.
Looks great imho. Good job on the entire house you two!!
Beautiful work.love watching you guys work together. Keep the videos coming !
I have the Craftsman without autolock and it whips back so fast that it cut my arm! I then bought the KOMELON Self Lock, and I love it! It's not scary and works as intended.
Nice! This is something that I've been wanting to try on a project for a long time but it has never made enough sense for the specifics applications. Perfect for the outdoor kitchen were planning though!
The counter tops look great. The house is looking awesome.
You guys have DEFINITELY given me food for thought on how I approach our vanities and counter tops - thanks! Still leaning towards Butcher Block - will let you know!!!
the counter tops turned out sick!
Courtney & Riley,
Well done on the concrete counter tops. More #3 rebar around the sink for sure. I also wait 5 days to cure. Longer if possible. Also, you can grind and polish the crete which makes it even prettier. Great job all around. Vibrating through the floor was epic. YOU GUYS ROCK!❤❤❤
I have to say, I'm not a fan of the color of cement counter tops, but totally enjoyed seeing how your process was completed! Keep up the entertaining vids!
You two are so impressive with your skills and determination. I truly enjoy watching your channel.
Outstanding job, looks so professional... Like your adventures, God Bless 😊😊😊
hello guys from France ! i did the same in my kitchen thanks to other youtube videos and i used polystyrene for sink hole and tung oil for finish. thank you for all your inspiring videos
Great job guys, my first concrete countertop was 12 years ago. It’s da bomb!😊
I think they look fantastic.
Will you guys be posting a video on how you choose to sand and seal the countertops? Great video guys
We probably won’t make another video on the countertops. But I actually sanded and sealed them yesterday. I used a diamond sanding sponge on the edges and sealed with 3 coats of Osmo Poly-x oil. They are super smooth and look even better now!
@@AmbitionStrikes Cool! Thx for the update on sealing the counteracts ( aaaand -- maybe the extended content decision. )
If I were REALLY interested in that might be able to find a YT video on the subject.
I really enjoy the mix of projects, maintenance, and repairs that go with home/property ownership.
The icing on top is the love and appreciation you have for each other while bustin' yer butts to keep it all on (or near) the rails.
You guys are so DIY. Keep up the good work. you're the perfect couple. ❤
Different Strokes for different folks…. As a woodworker, I love love LOVE auto lock style tape measures. Specifically the Stanley Leverlock
If the tape needs to be pushed to close it’s broken.
Long time Lookie, first time commenting. I’ve cast a counter or two in my day and have a few suggestions for next time. One is to use foam for the sink opening. Concrete shrinks and particle board expands with moisture causing the crack. Set up the molds and prep the day before casting. Giving you plenty of time and energy day of pour.
Mix with warm water in the winter, ice cold in summer. Cold weather and materials will slow down the set and cure time. Store your materials in the house to warm them up. Opposite in the summer.
Keep on truckin’.
Wow, huge milestone! Congratulations guys, the countertops look awesome!!!
So I'm eager to learn how you deal with the pin holes and the crack. Hope you cover that in a future video. Also, how do the concrete countertops wear and what kind of maintenance do they require? THANKS!
I've never seen the sponge trick for cutting tile. Definitively going to use that one!
Carbon fiber rebar is what you needed for around the sink. There is a company in Concord CA that sells all the ingredients for concrete countertops.
Recommend using hardie backer over the one piece of plywood and using thinset to adhere it to the backer. The most important thing you need to do is support 100% of the tile so it doesn't crack.
Amazing work guys
Love it so much keep it up as always 💘
Love your videos!
Since about 1975 I do not listen to much music but I always feel great listening to yours.
Awesome job on the counter tops.
You gyts are amazing. Such a great team. Well Done!
That's a solid job well done.
GREAT VIDEO
U two work so well together I like the counter top great job luv ❤ u two u can tell how well u think through every project great house build
I'm not a fan of concrete countertops, but I came across some that were so awesome. The guy that did them took copper wire and made them look like gold veins spidering around, then poured the concrete over that. Then when he polished it and sealed it, it looked like rock with gold veins going through it. That was the coolest thing I ever saw.
Great look! 😍
Personally, I have discovered that 1/4 inch mesh square hole wire works really well for narrow edges on concrete countertops. Please don’t take this as me saying I am in any way an expert. Just done a few, and narrow edges have never cracked once I started using the 1/4 inch hole wire mesh
Thanks for the tip. We’re definitely going to give that a shot next time!
@@AmbitionStrikes I would consider bending quarter inch hardware cloth around a one by two to make a rigid beam that could be set into the narrow parts like you would with rebar in a footing. Likely would work with half inch hardware cloth as well. Key point making a box out of it would add rigidity. Just need enough space to let the concrete flow into the center of the box beam. Just a thought.
You guys did an amazing job on the concrete countertops! Even with the crack, you can fill it in and ONLY YOU will notice it.
The jobs you guys are pulling off will pay off in the long run and your houses are better built than actual bulders.👍
Love the bathroom counters 🥰. Actually I loved them all 🥰.
Your videos are super countertops turned out great also I just bought some of your coffee and it's very good thanks again guys, all three of you and the dogs
They all turned out great! Will you be sealing the concrete countertops once they finish curing?
Yes! The plan is to seal them with 2 coats of Osmo Polyx oil once they are cured.
Nice that was interesting as my wife wants to change our kitchen cabinets and counters.
Just curious why not just leave the plywood in place until after you set the countertop, they might have helped the sink not crack....but also yes a continuous piece of rebar definitely should have helped it not crack. I've done concrete countertops before, and used 1 1/2 angle iron as the edgeband and prerusted and sealed it for a customer, that worked out really nice. I also have poured in place using PVC pipe split in half as the form to give the tops the full bullnose edgeband look. Great job, the house looks AMAZING! LOVE the bathroom countertops.
They look really good, when I was looking at how thin the area around the think was, I was holding my breath when you took it out of the mould..
Great video. The countertops look amazing. I love my Bambu A1 with the AMS. Great sponsor!!
I thought the house was being build for your brother
i dont think they said anything about that changing did they?
@@ge2719 they said they might want to make it an airbnb
on the very first episodes of this series i also remember that they said that
I know for a fact they said it was going to be for her brother in the first video when they started this project. I even commented on a couple of videos about him not helping build his own house.
@ge2719 They said in the last video that they didn't know what to do with it now if they'd sale it or keep it and have an air bnb or what to do with it yet. They didn't say anything about it originally being for her brother though. Guess they thought that everyone would have forgotten they said it was for her brother.
Good job looks great
Amazing job on the concrete countertops and tile. It's nice that you can now use your countertops to sharpen your chefs' knives. LOL, dual purpose. I love it.
This was so cool. You guys are amazing.
I wish we could have seen more of the finished look but maybe that is yet to come?
The autolock measuring tapes are great once you use them a few times, they are my go to especially when im on site taking measurements
great counter tops!
Y'all are amazing. Thanks for sharing
Those countertops look amazing.
👍👍
That is sweet on the prices.. they look awesome .. almost done 😊
Awesome per usual! Two thumbs way up!
Nice! We made our own custom Butcher Block countertops using maple, ash and oak from our property. We had the wood milled at a local Amish sawyer into 2" x 2" x 8' pieces and then planed them down to a 1-1/2" finished size. The wife glued together the pieces into 12" widths which we planed even, and then glued those together for the finished product. Our cost? aA little under $72 total. You can see how they turned out on our videos of us making them. They're some of our most popular vids on the channel so far.
Thanks for the video. Looks Great.
Great video! The house will be amazing. 😊
You can grind the countertops a little and then treat them. Look at some modustrial maker videos. He makes lots of stuff out of concrete.
The 3D printer is very useful. Awesome video on the counter tops.
Those look rad. I wounder if you could partially mix something in it to replicate a stone of different sorts
Yes...Yes... Excellent!
I really like the bathroom counter tops. Looks beautiful.
🇬🇧 Those counter tops were fantastic, Well done.
You guys are Uber cool. All the best from the UK 😎👌🏻
Great work as always.... I'm a concrete guy from NYC....ish... All my work generally gets buried, or unnoticed while driving over.... I may have to do my own concrete countertops just because
Nice job on the cement counters.
Looks amazing
1:40 You can put a jigsaw through wood without cutting an opening first too. Just put the front on the wood with the blade parallel to the wood and slowly tilt it in. It'll feel weird the first time, but it works perfectly fine.
Always watching from Morocco
For a cabinet handle line up tool all you need is a piece of aluminum trim 1x3 at most L shaped, set up one hole manually then hold the piece over drill your two holes from the back of the door thru the metal, mark it from the bottom of the door, flip and mark, cut off both ends now it fits with NO measuring. For drawers just draw reference marks and line up, one vertical and one horizontal and don't forget to put a line between your holes on the jig. Take less than a minute to make one.
Pro tip for tile cutting: you can get a small tabletop wet saw for $100 that can cut any size tile (just remove the guide). Also you can buy a porcelain diamond blade that will reduce chipping...
Tim from Canada🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 you know if you would’ve mixed up another batch of white cement in used a little stick you could’ve put designs in there that looks like the veins that show on real tile in the stores that paint brush or a little stick with white cement could’ve given you different ideas to put in designs or the marbling you get from real granite tiles🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Your videos are always filled with warmth and kindness. Thank you for your generosity and openness!🐮🥩💚
When making those forms or really anything you will be screwing in, try using a brad nailer to tack it in place. two or three even small brad nails can hold something really well till you can get screws into it.
Great work , i like it 👍
I LOVE the Milwaukee autolock tape measure! You have a bad one, it should retract just by pushing the button--return it for another one (and test it in the store first). I have 3 or 4 16-foot autolocks around the house and shop, now I'm Jonesing for a 25-foot one like you. When you get a good one you might like it much, much more.
BTW: you can trust this opinion because it was written on a laptop that sports an "Ambition Strikes" sticker on the lid.
If your not completely satisfied with your countertops you could put a skim coat of feather finish by ardex. You can tint it any color and model it and burnish it like marble it’s pretty easy to do. Then put epoxy over it. Food grade.
Very interesting video. Thank you for sharing
I found using a plastic paint mixer for doing the concrete with the mesh in it seems to mix better with less mesh sticking to the mixer also.
This video was well done for the steps for cutting the tiles. Maybe a longer format, more detail explanation version of that part of the video would be great. I never thought top use a wet sponge like that. Always thought I would be using a water bottle with a slow pour.
Those counters are awesome! I was so worried one would get dropped. I've been thinking about getting one of those printers to print parts for investment casting. I've heard that they make a filament for that. Great job!
I would recommend you Makita DCG180Z since you already are using Makita. It's a silicone/glue gun and I love mine. So much easier than getting hand cramps for the manual ones
Great video as usual. Boo on the Bamboo Labs 3 D printing sponsorship. The recent change in how much control they insist on having with their printers...no thanks.
Just don’t connect to the internet and update anything. But yes, it sucks. Like Tesla and kitchen appliance companies compiling sexy time videos they got from their cameras and sharing them in house. Companies are just making gross choices. Nice counter tops.
Good afternoon to you all
