    Wow! I've been playing for 70 years and You just blew my mind with what that keyboard does. My first time seeing one. And you play it so well. Ordering one immediately. They have indeed re-invented the wheel. It hit home instantly when I saw how expressive one can be with it. Seems to replace bend wheels and mod wheels with hand motion. I'm stunned! This old dog just found a new trick lol! Just found you and you are phenomenal by the way!! Subbed and rung that bell lol!

      What sucks is Haken Audio, who started the trend with the Continuum, never sold their product to a company to mainstream it so Roli jumped on the intermediate level first. If Roland could buy Haken they have the mesh fabrication to make the continuum for 1/3 of the price. And its the actual perfect xyz finger board. Roli is nice as a starter for the tech, but the king is still Haken.

      @@FanaticDrummer huh that does look like it would take less force to use I guess, what else do you see as good about it?

    • @FanaticDrummer
      @FanaticDrummer 4 роки тому +3

      Lauren Not just less force, but less friction. It allows for easier slides and glides with the most delicate of touch. No bumps as well. The instruments also respond a bit better and the latitude of playability is better. You can touch multiple points, and move simultaneously with different notes in different directions. The seaboard cant. The Seaboard was a attempt at bringing polyphonic to intermediate price points but the rubber was a turn off. I tried it in person and did not like the feel at all. The raised keys really were unnecessary. It does effect the sliding horizontally from note to note because of the resistance. The Continuum just glides and is more expressive as you apply pressure. Applying pressure to the roli is like how it feels when you press into a rubber pad. Its ok. For the price. But the Haken technology is better, and needs to be sold to a company that can mass produce it for less like Roland. Im a drummer and ever since seeing Jordan Rudess play it in 2005 i’ve wanted one or something similar. Whether its touch screen or mesh. But the Roli rubber design kinda turned me off especially for how expensive it is.

      This is just somebody taking that "pre fabricated music" you look down on and practicing pressing buttons to fabricate it on the fly.
      I'm not saying it's not an incredible performance. It is. I'm not saying she's not very talented, she is. I'm not saying the music isn't great, it is.
      I'm saying that all music is pre-fabricated, and you simply failed to appreciate the fabrication until you saw her do it live here. That's your failure to open your mind. Let this be a lesson to you. If "pre-fabricated" music is worthy of your ridicule, why not fabricate some yourself and learn just how difficult it is to create a catchy, pop feel song with great production value that people want to listen to. Take as long as you like. We'll be waiting.

      @juschu85 4 роки тому +2

      @bo as I agree that there should be more live acts on festivals. But you can't just replace DJs with live acts. It's not like DJs are pretending to be musicians (with some exceptions) while being worse at it, DJ just do something different. Of course, what they do is less complex, but a DJ can give you something live musicians can never give you. A DJ can choose from a huge library of songs to play exactly the right next song after the current one. A live musician can "only" play those songs she wrote herself or learned to cover. A DJ can create an evolving vibe over the whole evening and adapt to the crowds reaction to the music. A live musician has a limited set of songs and after one or perhaps two hours it's over. A live musician (with some exceptions in electronic music) usually has breaks between two songs while a DJ can mix two songs and keep you dancing.
      Yes, people should book more live musicians, but other people should stop acting like DJs are just worse at the same thing. They are doing a different thing you can't compare like apples and apples.
      In the end it depends on what type of festival we're talking about. Should the festival be like a concert? Book some live musicians. Should the festival be like a party? Book some DJs. Should it be both? Book some live musicians and some DJs.

    • @truevegas
      @truevegas 4 роки тому +4

      Most DJs these days are producers in their own right. They put in the work behind the scenes and have the capacity to play live of they want to. It depends on the set, and the venue.

    • @juschu85
      @juschu85 4 роки тому +5

      This is really not the first time. I often see comments like this. My biggest problem here is that you can compliment someone without bashing a whole group of other people. What about "Yes, DJs are fine. But I want to see more performers like her on festivals." ? Anyone who can't write this because he doesn't agree on DJs being fine just doesn't understand the job of a DJ and has to read my previous comment.

    The Seaboard was an excellent choice. The danger of looping is because it repeats over and over it can easily sound mechanical. So we need very expressive instruments like the human voice or acoustic instruments or....the Seaboard! This was just hypnotically wonderful. Your voice in the lower register has a warmth and thickness so unusual for the female voice. it also sets you very far apart. Its just uncanny how complete you sound. The magic of looping done well!

    I see you when the lightning strikes
    One flash a minute
    Each time I see a different side
    The shadows on your face aligned a different way
    You take my hand and lead me toward the light
    But I don't wanna leave the mystery, ohh
    I played this game too many times
    To know it's better left unseen
    I just wanna go
    Lay low
    Aside from where the light is
    Hiding in the shadows
    Where we don't need to speak
    And color can't be seen
    Baby, baby, I would rather wonder
    Than be told the meaning
    Don't you try to speak over the thunder
    Sometimes the moments in between say more than we do when we speak
    Don't move
    I don't wanna leave the mystery
    I played this game too many times
    To know it's better left unseen
    I just wanna go
