I really hate the pro vs premium that Stern does. The play of the game should not change between the two. They should do it like CGC and the games all play the same. The model difference should be in cabinet stuff, the playfield should be the same.
People hated on House of Horrors for being a boring layout with stupid mechs and a shitty code upon release. Four years later, it’s one of Stern’s best with an amazing full fleshed out code. Give it time, and this game will rip.
Cary s**tting all over a fan layout but when the code goes deep it's great on modern Sterns. Also, this code sounds *DEEEEP* plus Eddy designed some of the best fans of all time.
What really concerns me is the way the wireforms flex so much that they are (Stern) almost bragging about that. WRONG. Witeforms /ramps should not flex as bad as that. Cheaping out is how I see it. I bought a NIB Foo LE, but will not fomo out any longer. QC problems all over the board. Thanks for your Vid and take Cary
That turned me off to the premium. It feels cheap to me, I’m also very concerned that those mechs aren’t going to hold up and become a maintenance nightmare.
@@Retrosys all they primarily care about is profits now, not ‘the game of pinball ‘ now. Especially with a new CEO that worked for Disney and some appliance company. Hands in the air bro.
No matter the game people will always justify their pro purchase. The old standard is “the premium slows the game down” but with this game people really gotta bend over backwards to make the pro seem worthwhile at all.
Agreed. The Pro’s are becoming for “on location” placement only. The Premium/LE buyers are looking for mechs in the new games, which make it so difficult to keep a pin going on location, I suppose.
@@-Gramps I have only two games and my first was Godzilla pro. Godzilla will fill my niche if a great shooting fast non stop game. Now I’m in the market for mechs. I want my lineup to have variety. If anyone wanted a pro I’d say get Godzilla or foo and stick with just one pro.
I knew this pin would be a no from me if it was ever released. Theme does not do much for me. I hope it does sell well. These prices are getting insane. It really has to be a theme that resonates for me to be spending that much money. I hope everyone that gets one has years of joy
Plugging the plunger: They way the video showed it does look weird, However, I've noticed on my Rush, I'll use my fingers, or thumb to quickly short plunge to my top flipper prior to the auto-launch kicking in. I don't have to look down and can judge the feel better with my fingers than putting on a full grip. But yea, that was weird. Good eye. Was that the new CEO's hands?
Your game room looks fire. 👌 🔥 😍 I have 5 games but still on boxes 📦 😅 because I'm working on getting my garage ready for an arcade room. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks very much, Cary, for providing your first impressions of this pin. Nope, you’re not the only one that noted the unusual plunger pull. IMHO, the hand& arm seem to be of a very early teen- possibly with no pin experience? Reminds me of the trailer for the SW Home Pin. I’ve seen only the first movie, & admittedly my expectations may have been tweaked by the new Haggis Centaur, but I though Venom would be a GREAT opportunity for a Black, White, & dark blue color interpretation with bits of red added for flair. Obviously, I’m not one to criticize Zombie Yeti, but I wonder what he could have done with that palate. As for the shots…I agree with you- gonna have to wait to see what Deadflip reveals. Take care….
I am definatly interested on how the pro plays, but for $9600 I would save up for a JJP Toy Story before I bought a Premium Ster, it is getting to be a hard sell on these machine prices
BTW you need a co-host 😎. Just like baseball. Would be cool to entertain that idea. Hell I’d be game. Otherwise it’s still you and your straight up honesty which we all appreciate
Sound Effects/Music is going to be what makes or breaks this game!! I keep going back to Bond, both Bonds sounds like the roof is coming off my house when you start hitting the shots!! A good pinball machine needs to sound like it’s going to explode when you get it cranked up!!! Stranger Things has some of the best sounds in pinball!! Hopefully Brian Eddy nailed the sounds in this game. I still think Stern needs to do better in the sound dept!!!
Go back and watch all the promo videos… every one has a weird plunger pull. It’s like they are trying to show a novice how to play by emphasizing the pull
Yeah, Stern and their bloody 1 min and 8 sec teaser previews with a ridiculous amount of cuts or the 2 min 55sec one that's on the distributor site now where the Stern CEO tells us just a little bit more are just friggin annoying. With the bs prices they're asking it'd nice if they'd actually tell us/ show us a lot more about the playfield and the different mechs and the game rules consider "choose your host and change the game" is a major selling point. But we don't actually know exactly how that's gunna work. But I suppose it'll all be revealed in the game play live stream......After the first runs probably all sold out already anyway. 🤷♂🤦♂😂
Great video. I agree with you. Way too many cuts. The bottom two thirds of the playfield look bare. I am not interested in purchasing this game. Maybe I'll change my mind after seeing a better video but as right know it's a no for me.
I’ll say it, there is a reason this game was delayed an entire year. I’m guessing they had a lot of issues with those mechs and getting them to work properly, and a mech like that changing tower, while neat, seems like a maintenance nightmare waiting to happen. I don’t like the cheap and unstable wireform coming off the 180 ramp, not a fan of that shot that just has the up-post in front of it, the only shot I like from that tower is the u turn/horseshoe shot, which is what is on the pro. I’m not entirely sure the shot changing based on who you pick is a good idea. If you don’t like one of the shots, then the game may have less flow or be less fun, and you may never use that character again. I truly believe that where this game is going to shine is in the code, not the mechs. There is a TON of potential here. Now whether Dwight’s ambitions have been kept in check with Raymond Davidson helping out or if he just went bananas and the scoring and code is going to be very complicated like on Turtles, that remains to be seen. I expect this code to be at 1.0 on release because of the delay, though. One thing this game has shown me is that I’m not entirely sure Brian Eddy was ever that good of a pinball designer. He has two ultimate classic games under his belt, and another very good game, but outside of that? It’s like he doesn’t have any ideas in his actual design left that aren’t tied to mechs. His layouts are all very simple, he’s essentially exclusively using two flippers in his Stern designs (minus the mini playfield on Mando which doesn’t add any left to right play). This is his third Stern game, and none of them have felt special. Maybe time will be more kind to this game, but I can understand the initial hesitation most are experiencing around taking the plunge. Personally I have been wanting to replace Mando (I try to keep at least one game from each designer in my Stern line up), so I’m going to do that with this, but my preference is the Pro.
Cary asking the hard hitting questions: How do you pull your plunger. lol love the recap, Im not turned away by fans, and the code is so intriguing I see this as another Eddy sleeper
Cary isn't wrong. Stern ALWAYS, STILL, release Grade A *TRASH* game reveal trailers. It's gotta be some sort of prank at this point. I don't even care until I see regular gameplay. Idek wtf I'm looking at.
Dig your videos Cary, thanks for doing what you do. Gotta say this Game looks lame as hell. Way to uniform - bunch of shots right next to each other - all North/South like a shooting gallery. 2 big thumbs down for Venom!
Another clown vomit artwork with a boring marvel them ,,,,snore , Look how classy the godfather art looks compared to this ,,, just my opinion, playfield design looks good though , looks like we’re returning to a modern version of the angle art of the late 60s where all the machines looked the same for a while
Really like that intro Cary! I'm definitely interested in the upcoming DEAD FLIP presentation. From the video and what I've seen so far it looks like the Premium would be the machine to get IF buying one... Looks like a LOT of stuff going on in this game- Lets see where the code is at and where it's going. I will also check it out in person at SFGE...

I completely agree
I don't pull my plungers like that but will try!
Great video. I found myself often watching the tv in the background during the side camera shots.
It's the underhand tickle technique. Very popular in some geographic areas.
Absolutely! I believe you find it most often in the southern hemisphere. 😅
I pull the plunger like that if its a game like bond where it doesn’t matter how i plunge. Its just easier on the wrist for me

That’s an excellent video mode, too

That's extreme levels of goal post moving. I wouldn't even consider the pro and premium to be the same game since they play so differently.

If you want prices to come down then you don't want it to sell well
Just buy one, play it for a few months and send it on its way. This is the way
The prices are absolutely horse shit. I am now only buying if it absolutely blows my mind. This doesn't.
Waiting for Cary to rename this channel to Old Man Cary. Stay off my lawn kids. ;)
It’s funny you say that about the plunger, as I immediately thought the same when I first watched the video 😂
You know the game doesn’t blow you away, when the most intriguing thing it’s a plunger technique!
Both Bonds have extremely fast wicked combo’s that are knee buckling when you get it right!!! Ahoy Mr Bond!!!!!
Thank you for the Kung Pow clip. I almost spit my drink out. 😅
Of course the game will be good, its a Stern!! Play it then trade it for the next!!!

Was on standby to potentially buy a LE venom, but after the reveal I moved my deposit to a premium FF
the Venom filter is funny
Your game room looks fire. 👌 🔥 😍 I have 5 games but still on boxes 📦 😅 because I'm working on getting my garage ready for an arcade room. Thanks for sharing 👍
All I can afford is a Pro. Like you, I'll see what the code does and those left and right locks. Could make for some really nice flow and fast games.
Amazing innovation, but all Marveled out. Jaws is my dream theme.
No I'm not going to buy one. But it looks good. Premium has 3 mechs, and a 4th if you count the raising ramp. Good vid.
You pull the plunger like everyone else does 😂
Cary Hardy’s first impression #1 !
Venom Pro should be renamed to Venom Vanilla
Is he trying to shoot webbing out his wrist when he plunges maybe??

Have fun with your stepper motor and wiring problems
Could be a P3
The plunger thing may have been imitating web shooting? Why they thought that would be cool on the other hand..
I am definatly interested on how the pro plays, but for $9600 I would save up for a JJP Toy Story before I bought a Premium Ster, it is getting to be a hard sell on these machine prices
My man..
Toy Story 4 is a solid pin

I noticed that weird plunger pull on my first watch 😂 You’re not weird Cary, that pull is weird!
My neighbour punches the plunger with the palm of his hand and it makes me cringe.
Hopefully not on your machines!
It used to be a thing way back when and then they put pointy ends on the plungers 😂
@@PubeStache Sadly yes! Its the same level of cringe I get when someone puts a beer glass on the playfield glass.
Web sling plunger pull.
Arby's. We have the meat?

That's how a typical fan layout is.... all of the shots are fanned across the top. Max speed to smash everything up top.
This was a great video until you said you'd get rid of Cactus Canyon... What an incredible game
