- Phenomenal Spirits was founded by CEO Karthik Sudhir in 2017. He started the company with the award-winning 10 year Ron Izalco Rum. Once the rum took off and won
numerous awards, the next step was to a rye whiskey. But for this, Karthik called upon
seasoned Master Blender Matt Witzig from Joseph Magnus to craft the blend.
Ry3 is is blend of three different whiskeys, three carefully handpicked mash-bills, and three distinctive age statements. This blend includes an MGP 95% rye, a 100% Alberta rye out of Canada and 12 year old light
whiskey.

Sounds tasty! Any idea where that light whisky is being sourced? I've had some older light whisky from MGP that really blew me away.
I believe it's also mgp as well

Love seeing rum get some attention. There is so much variety in rum flavor profiles.
Agree with foursquare recommendation. Doing a lot of interesting labels. Also gregarious grump doing some interesting barrel proof unfiltered rums.

Jason, transparency was mentioned by you and on the bottle in terms of age statements but only one has been revealed. We know the LW is 12yrs but what about the MGP and the Albertta?
The mgp is about 4-5 years old. Didn't get the age of the alberta rye.

Great review J. I picked up a bottle of the RY3 a few weeks ago. Phenomenal Spirits did a great job on this one. I very much appreciate that its not Dill forward and that it will hold its own as both a nice sipper or in a cocktail. Cheers

Loving the video. I will definitely look for the rum. Some of my favorites are abuelo 12, ron barcelo imperial, havana club seleccion, el pasador de oro XO.

Jason, loving my rums and building them up on my bar and within my collection. The Ron Izalco 15 just popped up on MoM UK. I purchased a few bottles and should arrive in the next couple of days will let me know what I think. Great review cheers fella :-)
I had a Tiki Summer in 2019 and Rum has a big part of my cocktails. Some Rums are Even good for sipping.
Cool review, thanks for keeping it varied, I’ve dabbled in the rum game as well. Also, dig the fact that the rye is finished, mostly find it in the bourbon/scotch game. Cheers!

I think that should be mandated. Lol
I'm from Alberta, CA and I would bet they use Canadian Club 100% rye. It's not a bad whisky to mix with coke, but probably not one you'll enjoy neat. The price is usually in the low $20's CDN and is considered very budget. Hopefully the rum casks do it some justice.

If your interested in Rum, start hunting for FOUR SQUARE -PATRIMONIO. It’s unbelievable. Not available in US, but if you can find a way... it will blow you away.
I'll be honest, they chose a bad brand. When you google RY3 the first thing that comes up is a vape company. And then the next hundred or so things is the vape company.
