  • A flashing tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light doesn't mean the same thing as a solid light. Understanding the difference between the two can help you know what to expect when you take your vehicle to the shop.
    Check out this video to learn what your tire light is telling you, plus you'll get my best impression of the worst kind of dealership service advisor!

    very good video, on a professional level, no ums or uh's in your speech, and you got straight to the point. I hate tutorial videos where the presenter takes several or more minutes to get to the point. well done this video.

    I choose to ignore it and check my pressure manually, but this was useful

    Have this going on right now with my rx350. Have always been able to reset the system (after checking pressures, of course) but now I cant. I'm getting flashing and non flashing lights. any suggestions?

    When the TPMS sensors are originally set up you have to tell the sensor what is the normal tire pressure of your tires. If this value is set low by the installation techs, you could have tires that have higher pressure than they were set at and the sensor will think you are outside of the pressure tolerance originally set by the installer of the sensor.

      Right! My frustration as a tech was when my own coworkers tried to dodge dealing with tire lights by re-initializing the system so that the light wouldn't come on until a tire was around 20 psi. The flat rate pay structure creates all kinds of bad habits in some people, lol

    I have a 2009 Toyota Yaris 4d sedan that needs new sensors. I can't find the requirements on how to reset or program new sensors. Trying to determine if I need a tool or if there is another way to do it. I'm going to get new tires from Walmart. They charge $30 for each universal sensor. I can order a set of 4 off Amazon for $40. Walmart said I can order my own, but I'm not sure what kind I can order for certain. I just know there are different kinds available, but I don't now the difference and I don't want to order the wrong ones. Hoping someone can help me.

    Do you by any any chance know the reset code for a 2014 journey ETC light? I know nothing is wrong and it only happens when we are at the most humid and then rains. I know it is key on, press gas 3 or 5 times quick, wait 10 sec and so on but I’ll be damn if I can find the sequence and the mechanic who help me isn’t not at the shop

      Hey Lori, I'm not familiar with it, but try looking around in forums to see if you can find a sequence that looks like what you're thinking of. Maybe check out the top response in this thread: www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-c22728_ds678517 Good luck!

    can I just totally ignore the light and judge if my wheels are flat by letting go of the wheel for a sec and the car doesn't go straight?

    • @FiredUpAutomotive
      @FiredUpAutomotive  2 роки тому

      If you're going to ignore the light, it would be a better idea to check the pressures regularly with a gauge. Not tracking straight could be a symptom of a low tire, but there are other problems that can cause that same symptom, too. And by that point, you might already be irreparably damaging your tire by driving on it
