I have a question... cam you record a song and go back the the beginning and record another on top like a new channel... record channels 1 and 2 and then start from the top and record a channel 3 instrument like the classic Tascan Model 12?
Thanks for the awesome review! Few questions: 1. Can the vocal effects use the guitar channel input for detecting chords while harmonizing? 2. Can we enable guitar effects on two channels simultaneously? Like apply electric guitar effects on one and bass guitar effects on another channel simultaneously? 3. Can each microphone channel have a different vocal effect enabled simultaneously?
Yes to everything apart from number 1. It doesn’t do auto detect on harmonies but yes to everything else. It can certainly have different effects on different channels. For the third one you would add an effect and tweak it to how you want. It’s still technically one effect but with multiple effects within it, like a chain. Best way to do that is with the software for PC and Mac. 👍🏻 Watch this : ua-cam.com/video/OVHK_09ytIs/v-deo.htmlsi=IVZ9h_d_OeBZWERP
Does 🎤 3 and 4 inputs have FULL access to the FULL vocal effects? I thought I read somewhere were only 1 and 2 have full access to GT and FX while the other 2 are basic reverb ect..
Thanks JP. Have you used the Gigcaster with the RC 600? The Gigcaster sounds very useful for guitar and vocal effects, and for recording, but I'm wondering how I would set it up with a looper pedal. Could you separate the vocal and guitar outputs before running them into a looper?
Another great video, thank you JP 🙏🏻. Can you help me with a questions please? Is it possible to pan sound coming in via Bluetooth and assign where the left and right go separately? For example, I want to use the Bluetooth to stream backing tracks with click tracks. These are recorded with the click track panned hard right and the backing track panned hard left. I'd would like to use the headphone out for IEM's so I would need to have the Bluetooth right channel go only to headphones, and the left channel to mix with all the other inputs, and go to main outs, so FOH only gets the mix, and not the click. Another way to ask the same question, can each input be assigned to a different output? For example can you assign input 1 to main outs, but input 2 to headphones only etc? Hope that makes sense!
Hey 👋 So.. yes and no. You can pan the sound but you can’t separate the Bluetooth signal L&R. You would be better off plugging the device with backing tracks into the USBC and use track 5. The second part is that at the moment you can’t get a different headphone mix. Hoping that changes in the future.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK Hi again JP. Could you help me with this problem please? I understand from your previous reply that I can't separate the Bluetooth input to the GCS5 to left and right. However, I've tried your suggestion of inputting my backing/click tracks via USB, and while I can pan, what I don't understand is that when I pan hard over to either side, I get no difference in the audio, I seem to get both tracks in whichever side I pan to (but what I'd expect to happen is that I would hear only the backing if I pan hard left on the Gigcaster or only the click if I pan hard right. The backing/click are recorded in stereo by the way) The same thing happens if I input the backing/click to the mixer via input 3 and 4 (ie the two 1/4" inputs) and I would definitely expect these to be easy to separate between left and right channels...🧐
No. The video is recorded on the device directly. You can record on SD card for the sound AND have the sound go to the phone too which is great if there was a streaming or recording issue. And it’s 32-bit too.

Hi! Love your videos. Maybe a bit too much it seems. ;-) Since I was looking for some equipment for my two kids to play bass, guitar, sing, and record at the same time, it seemed like a good solution. A reputable company - not named - had a good deal at half price, so I ordered it. It's shipping now. However, even though the Gigcaster 8 has numerous inputs it seems as if you could only connect one guitar/bass at a time? And only one mic at a time? Do I have to get two of these to fulfill my needs? Is there a way to use it as I originally thought - for a two-man band, or is it just a great one-man band streaming device? If the latter is the case, do you have any tips on what to get that would meet my needs better, where streaming may not be the most important part. Maybe at half the price of this unit. :-)
Hey 👋 Thank you so much. 😊 To answer your question, you have 4 inputs and they are combi jacks which means they can take either a jack input or a mic input and you tell the Gigcaster 8 what kind it is with the button on that input. So you could have 2 mics and a guitar and a bass no problem and record the lot on SD card either as a stereo or record each track separately. 👍🏻 Watch this as a setup guide for multiple musicians - ua-cam.com/video/AeTBkQ1ask4/v-deo.htmlsi=cAdRqVOt7QNe_Bym

No but you need to tap on the channel button (guitar/1 button) on the GigCaster and make sure it’s coming out properly. Should be stereo from the output even though it’s mono on the input.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK I solved the issue because it were XLR input going in the gigmaster from the headrush I had to set the channel to microphone, all good now 🤙

@jamescorbett3039 have a look at this video and you can go into the PC and Mac editor and you’ll see how you can tweak stuff. To be fair it can all be done on the screen if the Gigcaster too - ua-cam.com/video/OVHK_09ytIs/v-deo.htmlsi=BaypCc9WGlbhpqw4
You can stream live no issues with plugging the RC-300 output into the GigCaster. Difficult to use the fx into the 300 and bring it back in again. Would have to cleverly use the headphone input and feed it back in.. but.. I haven’t tested this as I think that you would get feedback which would then feed back into the main output. Hoping that they update to that you can edit what comes out of the headphone output (separate mixes).
Thought I would share some wisdom for people thinking of starting a live right now……. The GC8 is an ACTIVE (powered) mixer, this should NOT be sent to an ACTIVE (powered) PA speaker like an EON or Bose S1 PRO. if you do you will encounter grounding issues, poor operation of both speaker and GC8 before one of them blows and becomes simply no more than a broken piece of equipment. GC8 for live use must be used with PASSIVE PA systems. Hope this helps someone and prevents unnecessary loss of equipment or money.

hi John, another question, I have cubasis on my I pad, can I somehow load the recordings you make with the gigmaster8 on the SD card into cubasis?, ..if so, how could I do that? . Do I need a special cable from the SD card to the iPad?🥴.
The main thing you will use is the app called ‘Files’ on your iPad. Create a folder first and then you will plug the SD card in with an Adapter, Goto files and transfer the audio. One is an SD card reader for the iPad. If it’s lightening or USB C will depend on which one you need. @@JohnPaulMusicUK I was having a windows issue, not a mixer issue. In windows 11, you must adjust the sound/recording settings in Control panel AND the typical settings. Was beating my head against a wall as I knew everything was set up correctly other than this Windows setting. Appreciate
the time!
@Luke-rg5lc no worries. Sorry I couldn’t help more as I only use Mac. Glad you got it sorted. 👍🏻
Hey 👋
Thank you so much. 😊
To answer your question, you have 4 inputs and they are combi jacks which means they can take either a jack input or a mic input and you tell the Gigcaster 8 what kind it is with the button on that input. So you could have 2 mics and a guitar and a bass no problem and record the lot on SD card either as a stereo or record each track separately. 👍🏻

May I ask, Do the main outputs which are unbalanced effect sound quality ??
Nope. Sound great to me. 😊 👍🏻
Hi Paul I'm going into the gigmaster 8 from my headrush pedalboard, out of the left output in mono from the headrush into channel 1 at the back of the gigmaster, when I put my headphones on it's only coming out of one side of the headphones?? Do I need to go in stereo
No but you need to tap on the channel button (guitar/1 button) on the GigCaster and make sure it’s coming out properly. Should be stereo from the output even though it’s mono on the input.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK much appreciated I'll look into it, I'm loving the mixer, it's a brilliant all in one 🤙
@@JohnPaulMusicUK I solved the issue because it were XLR input going in the gigmaster from the headrush I had to set the channel to microphone, all good now 🤙
I’ve been gigging for 20 years! Things have changed somewhat so thanks for all your tutorials. I like the look of the gigcaster, I’ve got a question. Can you individually set guitar effects? I mean add some chorus/reverb and a bit of delay for example and tweak each effect and then save the patch? Or are the presets pretty much locked in as they are? Cheers Jp
Yes you can totally tweak them. 👍🏻
@@JohnPaulMusicUK cool! You may have sold me on this product! And thanks for the ultra quick response!
Hi JP. Quick question: Does it track the guitar to create vocal harmonies like TC Helicon Play Acoustic? Thanks
How we can stream live with rc 300
You can stream live no issues with plugging the RC-300 output into the GigCaster. Difficult to use the fx into the 300 and bring it back in again. Would have to cleverly use the headphone input and feed it back in.. but.. I haven’t tested this as I think that you would get feedback which would then feed back into the main output.
Hoping that they update to that you can edit what comes out of the headphone output (separate mixes).
Why is my gigcaster 8 oy recording files in 10 min inte vals??
It’s does do that.
However it carry’s on without any interruption if you were to drop the files into a DAW like Logic or Ableton. Hope that helps.
HI, Nochmal.Ich habe jetzt Iphone 15 pro max und klappt trotzdem nicht..
That’s fab advise!
🙄 I finally thought I found the perfect substitution for my TC Helicon Voicelive 2 and Behringer Xenyx 1204usb mixer that I use in combination with my EV powered tops and sub. Thanks for telling this. But also very dissapointing. 😒 If somebody would have advice for an alternative I would love to hear it!
Asked in a Facebook group and there I was told GC8 is not powered? Also, in the video, the Mackie Reach is active also right? So lost now...
hi John, another question, I have cubasis on my I pad, can I somehow load the recordings you make with the gigmaster8 on the SD card into cubasis?, ..if so, how could I do that?
I use this one and still use it now after 5 years of owning it to transfer stuff (literally used it yesterday! 🤣) ua-cam.com/video/J3WcoBbBQao/v-deo.htmlsi=V6x3nuSv4fojsoe2
