  • The second chakra is Svadhisthana Sanskrit. स्वाधिष्ठान, svādhiṣṭhāna "own"; "Housing"; literally - "own housing". The chakra, located approximately between the upper edge of the pubic bone and the navel (the traditional description of the localization is "at the base of the lingam (penis)").
It is depicted as a scarlet (ruby, blood-red) lotus with six petals, in which the Sanskrit letters ba, bha, ma, ya, ra, la are inscribed. In the middle of the lotus there is a white crescent symbolizing Varuna and the elements of water, and inside it is a bija-mantra vaṃ mounted on a white crocodile or macar. Inside vaṃ is Vishnu along with the goddess Chakini or Lakshmi.
In Viveka-Marchanda, svadhishthana is described as a fiery triangular yoni, shining like molten gold or lightning, and the seat of prana.
The result of meditation in svadhishthane is the release from all defects (eg, selfishness), and diseases, the reception of all siddhas, the harmonious movement of vayu through the whole body, the knowledge of the various sastras by heart and all sciences, the position of "the lord of love and adoration of all beautiful goddesses," and likening to Brahman.
