What a shame.... Not only did they just copy our work, and making profit from it, they do not even give credits to us. They even re-branded the software from uSDX to uSDR. This is no fun at all for me as one of the developers of that rig... The licence is CC BY-SA 4.0, which means, it´s ok to copy, but you a) have to name the source and b) release it under the same license. They did not do that, as there are no Schematics published. I totally agree with you. I did not know about the projekt before I bought it. I just saw a link in a Facebook group and order it directly because everything sounds nice and I'm a big QRP fan as you can see. Now a few days later and a lot of views (I never expected that) see the problem.
So HAM spirit and appreciation is the most important thing.
My issue is to show my DIY QRP stuff and unbelivable low power QSO's

Dankeschön lieber David für dieses aufschlussreiche Video. Als OT (1. Lizenz 1969) habe ich viel experimentiert. War aus verschiedenen ländern QRV ... da ich immer mindestens ein Gerät dabei hatte und immer Gastlizenz oder Gastland-Rufzeichen hatte. Mit den Jahren reduzierte ich dann immer mehr die Antennengrösse und die Ausgansleistung. Zwar habe ich noch einen IC-7400, benutze aber viel mehr meinen G90 oft runtergeregelt auf 10 wtt... SDR erlaubt guten Empfang und bei einigermassen Bedingungen auch prima Verbindungen. Da ich verschiedene dieser uSDX-Geräte gehört habe kann ich nur sagen die Audio-Qualität Deines Gerätes ist (im Video) die beste. Vor einigen tagen habe ich mir also auch so ein uSDX bestellt. Es soll mir aus Frankreich geliefert werden. Gut das Du sagst es gibt keine "gedruckten Unterlagen/Anleitungen" zum Gerät. Ich möchte aber mit dem Gerätchen experimentieren. Das bedeutet ein externes Mikro anschliessen und auch in Kopfhörer oder einen externen Verstärkerlautsprecher gehen. Hast Du sowas schon versucht???? ... und sind die üblichen Mini-Klinkenstecker so belegt das man Handmike und Kopfhörer ohne "umlöten" benutzen kann ???? Vy 73 de EA3ANC (ex DK6DX).

Schaue dir bitte die anderen Videos an. Leider ist der China trx sehr fehlerbehaftet. Es wird eine ganz neue und viel bessere originale deutsche Version geben suche nach DL2MAN ich werde die neue version bald vorstellen.

@@QRP.lifestyle O.K. ich hoffe wenn das Ding bei mir ankommt, das es in den wichtigsten Funktionen "lebt". Ansonsten möchte ich damit ja experimentieren. Wie "gut" man in (ich nehme an) Familienbetrieben in China gelötet hat ... zeigst Du uns ja. Sicher haben viele dieser "Unter-Unternehmer des Handels" auch nicht immer das richtige Material im Karton. MADE IN GERMANY wird daher etwas ganz anderes bieten können. das deutsch-internationale I&D steht ja. Allerdings werden die Preise dann sicher für viele Funkamateure das Buget für so ein interessantes Spielzeug übersteigen. Nun gut, warten wir mal ab. Ich glaube DL2MAN sollte sich keine Sorgen machen. Zwar ist man als Miterfinder zunächst geschockt und tief getroffen (mir ging es in einer Entwicklung innerhalb meines Berufslebens auch einmal so) aber eine schlechte Kopie zeigt dann doch in kurzer zeit den Wert des Orginals. Ausserdem hat Dein Video sicher viele Funkamateure zum Experimentieren im QRP-Bereich animiert. Nochmals TNX/TKS und ich werde auf jedes weitere Video gespannt sein. Peter EA3ANC

CW is well! On my tranciever on WB2CBA PCB's CW is works so terrible on filters lower 1500hz. I don't what is this. May be mixer or synth.
You can change callsing on tranciever menu without PC.
And one little remark, not Lambic this is IAMBIC (yambik). 73!

Thanks I am not a fan of digimodes but I will do this with my whip antenna from the livingroom in the middle of the City. To catch some will be a challange. Maybe in a few weeks from now
I warmly welcome. I also have this problem with the reverse operation of the knob and I do not know what to do, I do not have a cable to program and improve or a program, the knob goes the other way, the external microphone turns on but without modulation.

Nice. I have one on its way here. It will be interesting to see how it works, compared to your experience. (We'll see how it compares to the Xiegu X5105 ;-) ) Very nice video. I get the impression from all the ham videos I see coming out of Europe that there is a bit more activity there than here in Gringoland. That little uSDX box would be fun for POTA and SOTA operations in Iberia or Italy. Hook it up to a Begali Traveler key and have some fun on a hillside outside Sintra or Bresia ;-) Vielen Dank für das sehr feine Video. I'm in Ohio. I don't know about import fees (yet). We'll find out when the Organs come knocking at the door ;-)

No for me Ft8 is not interessting. Maybe try it for a video in the future. I think there will be an update in the Software after that I try it.
But I really do not know who make the Software. Anybody out there any idea?
@@QRP.lifestyle I had the same question on software and also if there is a group to discuss changes and modifications that I am sure we hams will do . Waiting on the German version , but has to be built due to age problems with eyesight and hand tremors .

Have you tried the external mic? Did your radio have an included hand held mic? I got one and it doesn't work. Only the internal mic works. Love your vidoes.

I've had mine for a week or so but please tell me if you have any issues with the unit such as mine:-
* Not usable for receive below 3500MHz due to loud internal hum/noise?
* Poor AM reception unless slightly off-tuned (front -end overloaded)?
* Backlight does not turn-off at all?
* Receive sensitivity randomly cut/attenuated when changing bands/mode requiring the unit to be powered off/on?
* Frequency selection via tuning knob erratic (steps back and forth at random)?
I am left wondering if I have a faulty unit or whether the quality of these units is just not up to expected standard.
Also wondering if anyone knows a support group or forum as I believe there is a firmware update but there seems little information available on-line. Maybe someone can add a comment?

Hey Rob,
There are no bandpass filtersections below 3.5 and over 29mhz. If you are in AM the receiver is fully overloaded. So I do not reccomend it for AM Broadcast, only for 29mhz AM operation. Backlight the same. Yes if you reduce the volume and change the mode, it is loud as the last setting in this mode

It is ok for this little rig. I try near solar panels in an industrial park. No problem at all.

It has a built in microphone as well as a plug for an external one . I have only used mine on CW so far . I also have the other model that comes with a microphone on order , but with all of the backup at our USA ports for container cargo ships , I have no idea at all when it will arrive . It does come with a charger for the battery , but there is also a jack where it can be powered from 12.6 volts . W5COV

I received mine about two weeks ago and found the receiver to be outstanding. Mine is a little different since I have to make the changes with the menu button, not the tuning dial. I ordered mine from eBay for 152.00 USD. I would like to use it for FT8 receiving has been great but can not get it configured to transmit. Every time I try to plug into the MIke jack it goes into transmit move. If anyone has luck in setting it up for FT8 please let people know. I was able to get a manual of sorts giving settings etc.

Backlight off is not possible, this is a bug for sure
being Arduino on the intreface part, there should be a way to tweak it :P very exciting!
The uSDX is a users development and rework of the QRPLABS popular QCX radio - for SSB Operation - I don't see anyone crediting QRPLABS for making their radio publicly modifiable, if anything it deteriorates from a perfectly good CW rig to become a copyable knock-off of a user-group project. Perhaps the developers should have taken the initiative to offer the uSDX to potential buyers and stop complaining that their work has been stolen by the Chinese.. There is still time!
The idea for SSB comes from PE1NNZ. He and DL2MAN did the SSB mods and a few more software options. Now the chinese are copying it. I am in contact to DL2MAN there will be news in a few weeks.

@@QRP.lifestyle I sincerely hope that the group that created uSDX will eventually create a 'finished product' (not necessarily a kit) so hams will have a choice to buy a EU or China SSB rig!

audio awful, receiver wide and no headroom, buggy volume control via knob. software freezes when volume adjusted below 0. squeals when turned up. tofu dreg.
