Good video. You’re a really good fisherman . Thinking about going there in a few weeks I’ve fished so CAL my whole life both in salt water and fresh water. I’ve caught plenty of fish life but I have never fished this lake. For some reason somebody told me that this wasn’t a good place to fish in the past so I never tried it out for myself. Ive had lots of luck up in Mammoth Lakes, Crestline, Lake arrowhead, and Castaic with catching trout and catfish off of nightcrawlers. Are you allowed to use live worms at this lake? Also I got myself a couple of casting spoons. My question is do you see anybody using these kind of lures there? And if so do they work?
Great video! New subscriber, here in Idaho they call those "golden trout" or "golden rainbow" but I think the "proper name" is palomino trout. They breed them here in Hagerman, ID. Nice job!
Yes Palomino Trout is the proper common name, I believe Lighting Trout was the promotional name given here in Southern California to attract crowds at stocked lakes. We get ours from Mt. Lassen.
Thanks for the tips dude . Just started getting into fishing. Next week will be the first time ill be fishing at the Santa ana river lake . Hopefully I have the same luck
It’s a tough lake to fish the first time you go. I don’t think I caught a fish there until my 4th or 5th time going lol. Just keep trying different baits and stay active to maximize your chances at catching. Also, try to go close to the stock days so you have a better chance at catching fish.
Peacando en el “boat dock”, “pump house”, o en “casa corner” casi siempre esta bueno. En la pagina de el lago hay una mapa que tiene los lugares que nombre. Tambien llege temprano para que encuentere un buen lugar.
Another great vid. I’ve been looking into getting a float tube. Any tips or recommendations on gear ? Also I like the mods you made to yours any info would greatly be appreciated. Keep up the good vids.
I have an Outcast Super Fat Cat and I like it a lot. It is light and pretty well made. It’s a bit more expensive that other float tubes, but it’s bigger, has more pockets, and has more seating space. The rod holders I made out of PVC, I just worked around the sides and use zip ties to hold them in place. I would definitely recommend getting a float tube though, it’s a bit challenging at first but it’s fun once you get the hang of it.
I use waders and the fins are separate. They’re white river waders that I got a bass pro. You can find good deals if you keep looking. I also got the fins at bass pro. They’re nothing special and the most basic ones but they work really well, it’s just about learning how to control the tube.
@@kevinsalgado7394 i was just about to ask you the same question. What model elixir is the one you first started fishing with thats paired with the stradic i been wanting to buy an elixir and now seeing the action im jumping on one lol? I have the same reel paired with a GL3 G Loomis.
I’m debating on either an elixir or the iron feather. Looking at the 8’6” but not too sure if I want to go 2 piece or not. If I go one piece I’ll go shorter. Do you have any advice on the iron feather or elixir also length and one piece or two?
I have the 7’7” one piece, 7’9” 2 piece, and 8’6” 2 piece. The one piece is more fast action and has a little less bend to it. The 7’9” and 8’6” 2 piece rods have the same action and bend, just one of them is longer. My favorite one is the 7’9” because it’s not too long or too short. But I honestly don’t use them that much anymore. The tips are extremely sensitive which is good for jigging, but they can break really easy. I don’t like the new Elixirs that much, but the price and rod overall is good. I think going with a 7’7” one piece Mirage or the 8’0” fast action Dragonfly is the best choice.
Get a good spot is the main thing, somewhere around the boat dock, casa corner, or the pump house should be good. Catching a lighting trout is like catching a rainbow, there’s no set thing they target, but supposedly they bite orange better.
It depends on the lake. Here we were letting our jigs fall to about 15-20 feet then working them back up as we retrieved. But it can vary on how the fish are acting that day. A safe depth I think is 10-15 feet. If it’s more shallow then maybe 5 feet.
They're freshly stocked from the hatchery so it's not like they've been sitting in that lake for years. There's nothing wrong with eating the fish from the lake. No one's going to pay $30 to fish just to throw the fish away. That would make no sense. Mt. Lassen trout are some of the tastiest fish you can get.
First time seeing your vids bro. Pretty cool. Great job. I’ll keep watching. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you! I appreciate it it
Nice bro! New sub!! they just started stocking those in our area!

@@ricardoalamo8704 You can also go to the Float Tube Fishing Forum for more info. It is mostly active in SoCal. I use a Cumberland myself
Dang man some nice high end gear you got there! What setups were you using?
Thanks lol I was using old models of the Phenix Elixirs paired with a Shimano Stradic and Stella.

Going next Friday, does anyone have any tips to catch a lot of trout or a lightning trout ?

Which spot would you recommend ?
When jigging for trout in a float tube what depths should i be working ?
