Great video!!! The effects are fantastic!! They can be different for each track!! The reverb is great and the shimmer-verb is like a 2nd instrument that serves as a whispy pad!! Also... EQ can be different for each track!! And the EQ can be quite extreme in of itself!! It was the best $550.00 I ever spent on a synthesizer/groovebox!! But... for the uninitiated... be careful with those little M&M buttons. Sometimes they get stuck inside and you have to carefully pop them back out!! My only wishlist item is for Roland to include a song-mode, or endless pattern-chaining. That would help a lot when one person (me) is trying to use multiple devices. Thankfully, I can externally sequence the Roland SH-4d from my Korg Electribe ES2 (which has robust pattern-chaining), or my wife's MPC One (which also has song-mode)!! Still... the Roland SH-4d is like four fantastic poly-synths... plus a drum machine!! And one of my favorite little desktop boxes EVER!! But a song-mode would probably elevate this to my favorite piece of gear EVER!!! Cheers from the working-class land of Delco!
@@thelastdj Yes Roland released it last year. It's great having a keybaord with a synth included, but you can link it up with everything else like the TR-8s and SH-4d with midi cables.
That's a surprise - really? Nearly every day I nuddle a little bit with this and keep finding it very inspiring ... at least for my genre - minimal / electronic techno. Maybe those people expected this machine to do the work for them?
@@maciejlegowicz5834 well the thing is you have to thinker with each engine and sonically if you are on a hurry they made nice patches for it to start. I think people want it to be a Elektron box when it’s not. This is a Analog 4 but with way more voices
Great introduction to the SH-4d GSDM - similar level of chronological advancement as yourself - nearer the checkout than the trolley park but enjoying this fantastic means to make music anyway ! Got a good deal on Ebay so this little beast looks like a lot of fun - should arrive thursday ish. How long have you been playing/beat making ? Thanks for the video.
@@thelastdj Glad i've found your channel Nick - hope to pick up some tips from your content - my instrument purchasing ability seems to not align with my instrument playing ability but work in progress as they say ! The TR8-s is my default machine at the moment but i have a queue of things waiting to be learnt so the potential for fun is there waiting to be unleashed.

Yes fully agree with every word thank you
I ended up with the GAIA 2 synth which takes some of the stuff from the SD-4D and puts it in a keyboard
Not heard of that sounds very good

That’s a good synth
The zencore effects come from their top of the line Integra model.
Yes agree
