- Agnetha’s solo album "My Colouring Book" was Agnetha’s big return to the public after 17 years, and became not only one of Agnetha’s most personal projects, but is one of the most celebrated and most loved albums for many fans. It was released exactly 20 years ago today. This special look at the album - with original comments from Agnetha - will give us a new perspective and understanding with how much devotion the album was created, and why it is so special for fans, and for the artist herself, Agnetha Fältskog.

Absolutely.Due to its charachter this one is possibly the perfect album that suits to be on Vynil and spin on the turntable if not on Vynil ONLY.
I support this whole heartedly! This album is special to me, it came out when we moved towns and our daughter was born. And as a huge fan of 60s Girl Pop myself I really loved her renditions of these classics.
WEA (Warner Music) seems to have no interest to release "My Colouring Book" on vinyl. What can we get this fantastic album re-released then?
I am the same age as Agnetha. I also like 60's songs, and would buy CD collections in 2004 of 60's groups and create "mix tapes". Agnetha did the same, but with her own vocals singing her favourite songs. I understand her completely, this was a labor of love, and a gift to all.

When the album came out i was so happy to hear her voice again after all these years. Almost couldn´t believe at first. And the result was so beautiful. I played the whole album over and over again, and i still love it. Every song is a little jewel to me.
Agnetha has beautiful taste in music. My favourite song from this album is "Sometimes When I'm Dreaming". I love it because of the deepness and how melancholic it really is. Thank you Bobby Brother for your heartful work and I would like to see more of Agnetha's music work
On an American" AC" radio station I heard just the opening notes and a few words of "If I Ever Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind" and I immediately thought, this could ONLY be Agnetha! Of course, how could this be, she has been silent for many years. Am I just dreaming??? Love this very personal album that only Agnetha Faltskog could interpret to this perfection! :)

Agnethas voice is always close like a friend who knows you and your deepest secrets and scars very well…. Like a confidant, At the time I was stunned about the fact that her voice sounded so true und strong as if it hadn‘t aged at all. I love this album very much! Thank you Bobby‘s Brother!

When Agnetha sings the last 'My love', in What Now My Love, it brings tears to my eyes every time. Even now, in 2024, it still moves me. God, that woman's voice...
"My colouring book" is my favorite Agnetha-Album! And "If I thought..." my Favorite Single. I also love the photo session for this album. "What now my love" should have been another single. The album is so personal and artistically sophisticated.

How I love this album... Beautifully produced, arranged and performed. "If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind" still leaves me with a lump in the throat after all these years. She really nailed that one. "Sometimes When I'm Dreaming", "Remember Me" and "What Now My Love ?" are also magnificent.
Once again you produced an excellent, informative video that didn’t only include interesting details about this interesting Agnetha Project but also reminded us how time flies.

I go back and forth on which of Agnetha's solo albums I like the most, but My Colouring Book is probably the one with the most depth to me. A very personal album from her...gives us insight in to what makes her tick.

Ilove it. At the time of its release i remember thinking "she's still got it. And still that 'edge' in her voice in ETYWITR And the plaintiveness. At the time of its release Cilla Black commented on how much she like IITYCYRM. Did you also know that Barbara Streisand recorded My Colouring Book'? and of course Shirley Bassey did What Now My love in her own style. Great work BB😊

It is such a beautiful album and her interpretations of the songs were so fantastic, many IMO surpassed the originals such as "If I Thought I'd Ever Change Your Mind". Her voice sounds lovely, and her story-telling ability was still there. The album remains poignant, at times haunting, and very melodic. Love the orchestrations too.

Such a wonderful album that I only recently became familiar with (still trying to find a copy) All of the songs are well crafted with care by Agnetha and those working with her. Fly Me To The Moon has long been one of my favorite songs, but her version just made me melt!

I adore this album. The care, the attention to detail of the arrangements, the recording and the performance is superb! Agnetha’s voice has never been better! Sometimes When I’m Dreaming is one of her most powerful solo performances. And What Now My Love was so unique - I heard that it was going to be used in one of the Bridget Jones Diary films but cut at the last minute (such a shame)! Agnetha was back and for me, this gave a sign of hope that maybe Abba could do something again one day…
Oh i had absolutely lost hope back then since 1984/'85 and even ever after until the 2018 ABBA anouncement.I still remember the feeling i had ,while reaching in the end of the '80s decade.Abba's absence had left me a devastating gap.As if i had once lived in some glorious castle that then got abandoned and half demolished never to gain its lost prime.That was my desperate sense.The loss of some big love ...until the very very late '80s early '90s that something had started moving again around their name and finally from the ashes raised a new neverending Abba revival.I kind of breathed some fresh air again.
I guess Cilla Black must have been satisfied by Agnetha's delivery to her songs.I know she once did an Abba cover possibly around 2009?That was 'Knowing me Knowing you" and was included in an album featuring various retro covers.
I revel in listening to the entire album! It’s that ”GLOWING SENSATION” that I love!!! 🙌
Magnifique video. When it launched I bought it inmediately. As a fan of ABBA since the 70s I've been following their steps. I suscribed to the Internacional ABBA Fan Club magazine, then found in Fb Mundo ABBA for spanish speaking fans. Wish you Bobby's Brother could document the big impact ABBA made in hispanic/ latin countries. I own their original spanish lp. Love it.
I own that too!My father had bought this from Spain as a Xmas gift.I had read about it being released in Spanish speaking countries so i wrote the title to my dad in a paper.I couldn't believe he had found it!My Original vynil was labelled in Septima records and the sound in our quadrophonic turntable system was glorious.

A wonderful album, beautiful interpretations of the originals! The first English album on which I love every song!
Thank you SO much for this Bobby. This album is incredible to me for so many reasons. I never expected to hear Agnetha singing again so it was a wonderful surprise when I found out and it surpassed all my expectations. No ABBA song had ever made my cry (until Voyage 😂) but hearing the first few words of the first single “hit me like a train”.
Agnetha has always interpreted songs in such a special way and this album is a credit to her. It has so much emotion and feeling particularly on Past, Present and Future which is very special.
I didn’t know Sometimes When I’m Dreaming was an 80s song but it fits perfectly.
I was overwhelmed on holiday in 2004 walking by a nightclub and seeing everyone dancing to the remix of If I thought You’d Ever Change Your Mind. That was also something I never thought I’d see again. Wonderful. The whole album is such a wonderful mix of happy sad and uplifting and really connects with what Agnetha hoped for.
Hello BB and all. I remember listening live to the 1st radio air play of her song. I listened live with ABBA fans around the world on the abbamail mailing list. 👍
Btw If i remember well from my reading in an early '80s book titled 'Abba in their own words" a couple of Agnetha's fave choices also .were ';Mr Lonely" by Bobby Vinton.Another one was 'Goodbye yellow brick road" by Elton john.Frida loved stuff from Carole king ('Tapestry"album)and Earth Wind and fire..Also in a 1979 BBC radio interview while promoting the VV album Agnetha chose a couple of Bee Gees songs from the SNF soundtrack and in a 2013 radio interview she praised Karen Carpenter's voice and pointed her out for being an inspiration and 'Yestreday once more" was her choice by The Carpenters.I also think that her ''Mr.Persuasion" song that was like a '50s or kinda '60s Motown flavoured track should have been a single back then in 1983.
I really love that Agnetha came back and recorded so many English lyric songs post ABBA. We didn't see so much in English from Frida. Agnetha's earlier work was beautiful, but there is that language barrier.
Brilliant! Reflecting upon it now, this album stands as a rare and considerate gift from her to her devoted fans. The very moment Agnetha appeared on screen with ‘If I Thought You’d Ever Change Your Mind’ emerging from the shadows of the past was emotive, wistful and unashamedly tear-inducing.
Agnetha recorded two Cilla Black songs on her fabulous album. Her version of/ If I thought ...../Was wonderful and was A listed on UK Radio 2.

This is by far my favourite Agnetha album, the one I most often listen to for its timeless songs, heartfelt and sensitive vocals and excellent production. Her rendition of "If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind" is simply brilliant (and much better than Cilla Black's) ~ she truly made it her own. Thanks Bobby's B. ❤👋🏻

For me it’s such a beautiful and unique album of covers and beautiful these songs are in her heart and soul ❤she gave us what wee wanted songs that ment a specific significance to her personally ❤
I had to listen to the album again after your video and you can really imagine her young self singing along to these songs in her bedroom thinking these stars are wonderful and then it dawned on me that i was doing exactly the same in my youth thinking that she/Abba were amazing. This album as a wonderful gift
My favorite is If I thought you’d ever change your mind. I can remember hearing it for the first time and it was such a wonder to hear Agnetha on new material after such a long time. I fell in love with her beautiful voice all over again. The album is a gem. My second favorite is Past present and future. Like a real voice actress she brings this peace alive. Every word, every line is exactly right, spot on. ‘Shall we dance’ and she floats away in the arms of the man she’s talking to. It’s like a movie. And her version is better than the original. I also like the opening of the album: For those who fancy coloring books, and lots of people do, here’s a new one for you. It’s like she’s giving a present and o my, after so many years we really really really wanted this present! And I really treasure it.

I clearly remember a lady reporters review in a newspaper when 'My Colouring book'
was released. Time has not deminished her beautiful voice, Agnetha's vocals/voice is still an impressive pop instrument.

This is the solo album of Agnetha’s that I listen to the most. Both the track 'Sometimes When I’m Dreaming' and 'Maybe It Was Magic' (from the album 'I Stand Alone') are simply sublime and can’t be bettered.

Thank you Bobby, loved this video, I went off on a listening spree to the originals I’ve never heard and re lived the beauty of Agnetha’s versions too. The album sounds great as mush today as twenty years before.
My favourite Agnetha album. I do miss her own songwriting on 'My Colouring Book' but everything came together on this album. It's a pity she wasn't yet in the state of mind to be able to promote it like she did later with 'A'.

This album is one of my favourites! I listening to this kind of music my whole life, and she choosed such good, outstanding songs. And of course with her unique and so wonderful voice she turned that songs into her own!! I love this album and the songs, abdof course I even more loving her singing those songs
Personally It's not in my top Agnetha albums,( this and 'Eyes of a woman") but a couple of songs in MCB i love far are better than the originals.,i.e.In 'If i ever thought" she breathed in a competely new life.Video is also very good,but my absolute fave is 'Past,present,future".I gets me down on my knees..My top 3 albums I Stand Alone/A //Wrap your arms around me.All three carry memories.
This has a special place, because it was such a surprise to hear this voice again in new music!

Thanks for the video - My Colouring Book is the best solo album in English by Agnetha in my opinion. I wanted to but never really managed to get into A/A+ whereas My Colouring Book was love at first hearing!

Thanks for the kind words! It was an unreleased mix, "SoundFactory Pop Mix", leaked in 2020 for the first time by Emil Hellman on Vimeo. The description says: "Originally remixed for release in 2004 but shelved until now, this is the much sought after SoundFactory Pop Mix of Sometimes When I'm Dreaming. A re-produced slow version was released to radio stations in 2004 but this version was shelved and never saw the light of day, until now. if you're going to return to music after 17 years this is the way to do it. Personal favourites here are many, the lead single If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind is as good as any of Agnetha's vocals for ABBA, as is When You Walk In The Room which sounds so incredibly ABBA~like. Sometimes When Im Dreaming is gorgeous but I also love Art's version with the fuller arrangement. Past, Present And Furture is a perfect song for Agnetha's speciality of delivering sincere heartfelt songs and What Now My Love is a tour de~force with an almost inde feel to the arrangement. My Colouring Book is simply one of Agnetha's best solo albums period. I remember the absolute joy at hearing her voice again, even if the album was drenched in tears. Well, its Agnetha, it was naturally going to be that way.
