This video is ACTUALLY really helpful, I wish I knew this alot sooner!
Thank you for confirming I should use a DI box with my zoom R20 because I don’t usually have my Mac on.
I use my old zoom H5N when I go to NAMM and it’s worked amazingly especially at the direct recording at the game changer audio booth and the stereo effects pedals sounded amazing without the show floor direct when I was editing in post. The examples here again show how incredibly useful these zoom recorders are on the go for recording guitars. Also great to see and hear the Mercury! ❤
Colin, you are my new Metal Guru, because you do Pixie Folk too..... This is where the Tony Visconti string section kicks in... if readers are unaware of the reference, it's Marc Bolan/T-Rex.
First! Slàinte, Colin! Great demo vid for the F6.
Many thanks again for involving me in these projects. Always good fun! 🙏💜
And thank you for all your assistance in making these happen - if only Zoom made a Scoosh for everyone's camera operating needs.
Damn, you just sold me on one. I just found my gift for myself this holiday
I hope it serves you well on all your future projects
I never get G.A.S. when watching your gear videos, I get informed. Thank you.
Very helpful video. Thank you for the information.
That Valiant Mercury looks awesome
Aye, 'tis good laddie! \m/
Could you use this as an IEM rig?
nice
I have an old Zoom PS-02 which I use as an audio notebook and for field recordings when I need to, but that looks like an amazing piece of kit, not sure I really need it now, but a decade of two ago it would have been invaluable to me and the projects I was working on then so I can see how useful it could be! Do I want one? Hell yes! Can I justify spending my non-existing funds on one ........ 🤔 not really.
I hope your recent absence from UA-cam has not resulted in your channel taking a battering from the algorithm.
What is that orange guitar?
@@MrMystery666 it's a Valiant Mercury
How's the battery life when using many phantom-powered mics?
@naafyren88 depends on how big a battery you have connected to it.
Doesn't last long on 4 AAs with phantom power active, but it also takes Sony NP-F550 and the larger capacity versions, as well as powering via USB battery pack. With the correct capacity of batteries you can record for hours without issue.
the scottish singer is the most scot scotsman in all of Scotland

Instantly sounded better than amp simulators 😶😂
It's shite. There's no battery length. Phantom power drains the unit in minutes.
The device can power from multiple sources:
If you are powering it from 4 AAs, then yeah phantom power will chew through those in no time.
But it will also power from Sony camera batteries, which are industry standard, come in high capacity versions, and power much more power hungry devices than this on movie sets.
It will also power across USB, so large capacity battery packs are also an option.
If you are using either Sony batteries, or USB battery packs with decent capacity, you'll get hours of recording out of it.
@@ScienceofLoud I went through 48 AAs at the NAMM show on the previous model in one day. Sometimes, I had to unprofessionally change batteries mid-interview. Is it the NP Sony battery range?
@@cocoloco71 F6 take Sony style NP batteries and I tend to use the NP F970's. Those last ages. Highly recommended. One of the reasons I chose this particular recorder.
That's a tidy wee unit! 😎👌 Actually looking for something just like this atm - Cheers sir! 🫡👍
Cannae recommend it enough, you should definitely have a word with them!
