Yes, you need more than simply GSR; I'm not sure why the PD doesn't see this. Instead of basing everything on gaming mechanics, conduct some real police investigations.

Rare Angel W. This actually sets a huge precedent for shooting in the city, and it’s actually a fair and logically sound ruling. There’s no definitive proof showing Mr. K actively took part in the shoot out, and it’s on the shoulders of any PD to be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the subject committed a crime.
Honestly with K’s and Suarez trial she set huge precedents for criminal cases, for K it was GSR alone is not enough evidence and for Suarez it was casings alone are not enough evidence. She’s kinda forcing the cops to conduct more investigation to prove a person is guilty of the crime they’re charged with

Yeah. Instead of rushing to scene maybe take some photos who is shooting and who is robbing who then maybe have a chance to say look he was gsr positive and I have a picture how he was robbed so highly likely he had a gun and was involved in shooting. 😅 so simple or maybe sometimes don't arrest just make photos and let him go 10 15 min later you probably will find him in another shooting incident with same outfit 😅

Just been like "The Police said multiple times that the incident lasted 30 minutes, and in that 30 minutes they were taking pictures and documenting everything involved including clothing and cars, but not 1 cop got even a single picture of Mr K with a weapon."

Ruby is a textbook definition of a cop that Nino doesn't want. She can't think for herself, she is not able to apply the human aspect when it comes to the arrests and things related to them. Which ironically makes her the one being difficult to deal with when you are a crim. Just because a server mechanic says something, it doesn't 100% mean that the person is guilty.
I remember this incident happening and when LK was in the cell at the PD. He explained his side of things to Ruby but it was pointless because in her mind gsr positive = guilty. It didn't matter to her that nobody saw him shoot and that he didn't have a gun on him. She called him as being difficult to deal with and refused to even reach a middle ground when the lawyer arrived.
You don't wanna have cops like this on the server. What she did stops RP, not only for the crim but also for the lawyers. It is one of the reasons why lawyers stopped showing up because what's the point of being a lawyer if the cops don't roleplay with you.

Where is the firearm!? no witness no casings no actual proof of robbing by not catching the perpetrator only GSR positive leading to false charge. Fought back with enough backing of the questioning and staying strong on defense. Absolutely loved watching this case. Truly creates more RP in other scenarios of shooting.

How do they not understand that you need more than one piece of real evidence and a bunch of assumptions to find someone guilty.
The PD does all have the advantage of mechanics for them. The crims dont even have the counter to GSR and DNA. What crims can do is just justify their arguments by relying more in RP route rather than mechanics, it will create more creativity and like this court cases. thats why the devs dont added counter mechanics for that but the PD cant see this and just like to be lazy and handed all to them.

Essentially, this should be the situation in EVERY SINGLE CASE. One singular piece of evidence should never be enough to push charges on someone.
Relying purely on server mechanics to push a charge is just fail RP. THE PD IS NOT A GANG AND YOU NEED TO ACTUALLY DO YOUR JOB

If they just taught RS vs PC more clearly to officers this would make more sense. GSR+ you have RS that a gun was fired, you can search them and investigate further. GSR+ & Gun on person = PC for arrest and charges. GSR+ & witness testimony = PC to press charges but witness will need to testify if challenged, and be credible. Its honestly not that hard if they remember they are role playing and not gaming.

They barely teach RS and PC in 4.0. Most of PD command and HC doesn't even know or care about it. Brian was the only cop who used to drill RS and PC into his cadets but he hasn't been doing P&T stuff since middle of 3.0. Mehdi stopped playing cop because of how frustrating it is with this PD and group of dumb cop players.

I don't get the confusion. Literally all they had to do is look at where the body was, look at the casings around it, look for the projectiles that match those casings and see if them stem from the body. If you can't match projectiles without the weapon, then follow the blood. Most people don't go down where they start bleeding. See if there's the same casings at that first blood site that leads to the final site of the body

How is it hard to understand that someone could have shot a gun, perhaps at the gun range, and then gets shot down and Gsr’d an hour later? GSR doesn’t give you when he shot a gun, just that he has at some point shot a gun. They need corroborating evidence that proved he shot it at that point. Why is it that hard to understand?
and to think this arc started with k losing the case where he argued they planted a gun on him and he lost anyways even though the prosecution lacked evidence to charge him

They argued that a lot, but Angel refused to allow proof that GSR tests can present false positives under certain conditions... Then in their deliberation they said that the defense didn't prove that GSR tests can present false positives.
At least the ruling was right, but refusing to allow something to be proven or disproven, then using that inability to prove or disprove something, is the same braindead nonsense that has been going on with the PD/DOJ especially egregiously since the beginning of 4.0.
Technically (im sure this isnt a mechanic ingame, but you could make the argument) that someone around you shot a firearm, and thats why you have residual gunpowder on you.
Gun shot residue only comes out of the back of a fire are by the hammer and doesn’t go very far. So, you could make that argument, if you want to be laughed at

Also, it doesnt just exit out the back of the gun. It goes every which way. The front, the back, and if there are any holes for pressure release, it goes out of those aswell.
Im sure if you walk through the gun range you exit covered in GSR.
So yes, you could make that argument, and be laughed at by idiots that have no idea how GSR works.

Seems like the new judges are trying to do a better job to balance out pd vs crims on charges standard. Pd should not rely on just mechanics. Because you can't argue mechanics in court

People charged for the July 3rd incident are taking it to court. It'll probably get ruled blood on scene isn't enough to push charges. That's why she allowed the PD to push warrants. She knew people would get caught and fight it in court to set a precedent
Nobody in that case brought up that he was surrounded by casings or where the bullets landed that would match the casings , those two things plus gsr would be beyond reasonable doubt in a court case . PD roleplayers should take a look at how much work other roleplayers have to do on the server to make things work , for example , growing vegetables, theres like 10 steps before you can do anything thats fruitful , another example is , building materials , you have to literally grind for weeks before you get the really good stuff , so they gotta stop complaining and actually do some investigation , every case cant just be open and shut .

It's quite simple: A positive GSR test is not, on it's own, enough to convict someone of criminal use of a firearm. It's *supporting* evidence that requires a gun, or other physical evidence that the defendant fired a gun *on scene*. The fact that the PD doesn't understand this is baffling.

I dont expect PD to take pictures of an active shootout or photos of people being robbed but to rely simply on GSR alone it doesnt prove criminal use but they could have articulated literally anything and would proven it because he was criminally using a firearm. To say PD is lazy and relying on mechanics etc is not fair. They are doing the best they can with a rework in the constitution

See the problem is the pd is so use to using mechanics to win cases they know that nothing is able to give you a positive gsr unlike real life hell a firework could make you positive is some cases
Only thing i dont like is that Mr Ks defense was all based on GSR tests can give false positives, but Judge Angle was wanting to set precedence that GSR positive alone isnt enough. kinda a f u to the defenses work and time to make a precedence.

This is braindead af they don't understand this. It's extremely simple:
Hearing a shot in the area gets you to respond.
A GSR test can give you RS to search someone for a firearm.
Finding a firearm then gives you PC for an arrest.
The most fundamental problem of the NP cops is that they do not understand the difference between Reasonable Suspicion (RS), which gives you grounds to detain and search people, and Probable Cause,(PC), which allows you to arrest and charge. This is not complex.

I thought you needed to know how to actually RP to get into server? Not only does it seem like its hard for them to understand that the DoJ wants the PD to use a little more effort and do a little more policing and not just take'n easy street sayin all they need for a W is GSR.
And that leads me and helps with the econd part.. Knowing that the only way someone could get GSR is by them specifically shooting a gun, but it RL and in RP its possible to get it by other means.
So the DOJ making the PD get a little more evidence and not just goin off a mechanic that people cant change or control and is just black and white, no grey, will help some with that part.
Oh.. forgot about the icing on the cake.. loved when the cop was like.. the spot where the gun was most likely kept, was empty... TF you mean? He had a gun holster and that was empty? FFS.. next he was prolly about say its illegal to roll money, followed by telling a crim if there is anything that says it needs to be seized by police, I need to take it..
Seems like PD needs to get trained on how to RP properly and how to use game mechanics the correct way before they get trrained how to actual police work. Cause not knowing how to do one hurts when doing the other.

GSR on its own just proves that that person shot a gun. it doesn't say he shot at who, where he shot it, or what he was doing. Unless you can 100% identify him shooting, with the casing in the same area that he shot, you can't really charge him with criminal use for a firearm. Also a gun license just say that a person legally own a gun. it doesn't say that you can't shoot a gun.

I mean this seems like a case of K has been complaining so much and convicted so much that he got tossed a bone here. And Angel convicted him on terrorism and got mega hopped that stream and attacked that for something this small he got off. And he will probably get a few more from Angel. The only one I see standing firm at all times is Bailey. You saw him in the Soze case. He will literally take whoever is giving the evidence that makes the most sense. And most crims wont go to court unless the situation is completely fucked because they know they are guilty so why waste everyones time to get innocent in a trial because pd has to argue mechanics without it sounding that way. But some people cant take the RP L when the money means nothing to them and the time is like 2hr.
