So, you know when someone moves around and you're not ready for it! lol I honestly don't plan on taking more than one other person fishing with me. Maybe a kid with a parent and just have two people fishing. It really is a one or two person boat though. The base price for a 2020 Micro is $22K. With all my options, for a 2019, I was a little over $30K. Thanks for checking out the Vid!
@@Xray.71 Basically, everything I show in the video is an option. The way it works is, you pick the model of boat you want, they give you a list of available options, and you build the boat you want. I'll be doing a video in the next few weeks on the options I chose and what I may, or may not do, differently now that I've had the boat for one year.
Hey man, I ended up getting one of these recently - really curious what kind of range you get on this? We haven't pushed it too far yet, but any idea how many miles you can drive it on this tank?
Hey SnakeBasket, awesome, you're gonna love your BT! Honestly, I haven't really pushed to see how far I can go on a tank. I run to the spots I want to fish, then I'm using the trolling motor, or polling, to get around. I don't think I've gone under a 1/4 tank since I've had the boat! lol Sorry I don't have a better answer than that, but I've never given it a second thought. I stay out all day when I go out, and run a lot of different spots. Range has never been an issue.
@@knockdowncity8976 thanks for the response man! Yea the boat has been amazing we are in love with it. And yea I guess we’ll just figure it out. Actually yesterday ran about 22 mile round trip and used a little less than half the tank so I figure 40-50 mile range. Thanks again dude!
Thanks Roy! Measuring from the outside of one fender/tire to the outside of the other, which is the widest point, is 71 inches. So, one inch shy of 6 feet.
Beautiful setup.... I’m torn between the micro and mosquito. Once in a while it would be nice to take 3 people and not feel “underpowered” with a 30HP. 🤔. What kinda speeds you see with that setup and is 3 people too many for comfort?
Deathstroke 0331, Thank you! I can tell you 100% the Micro is not made for taking more than two people out for a day of fishing. Maybe two adults and a kid, but even then, it's going to be tight. Absolutely ideal for one or two people. Drafts way skinny, easy to poll with two people, performs great! Yesterday, I went out alone, and actually reached the fastest speed so far: 28.4 mph. My average top speed is probably 25 mph @ 5500 rpm's. Maybe a little less than that with two people on board.
Thanks Joe, that's a great question! I'm going to do a video soon, after one year of owning my boat, and I hadn't even thought about that!! I will definitely cover this in my video, for every one else. BUT, since you asked; I do not find them to be redundant at all. I mostly sight fish in Central Florida on the flats, in 2-3 ft. of water. I usually troll to a spot I want to fish, and if I want to stop and fish a spot, I kill the trolling motor and use the Power Pole. If I happen to be trolling, or idling, in deeper water and decide I want to stop and fish, I use the spot lock. I don't even have an anchor on my boat! Probably should get one lol! Also, there are times when I'm polling in water too skinny for my trolling motor, I just push pole up to where I want to be, drop the Power Pole, and fish. Hope this helps. Thanks for checking out the vid! I'll have the one year review video out soon! Tight lines
Thanks for the overview! How would you characterize the stability at rest, particularly in less than glassed out conditions? Edit: also what do you tow with? Thanks again
Hey Michael! I had this discussion with Jason Parisi, (see comments below.) He asked if the boat is "tippy', I said, not really, blah blah blah, he did a water test and said, "yeah, it's tippy". lol I must say, I have to concede to Mr. Parisi. The Micro is a small boat. Very low profile in the water. When I have another person on the boat, I really notice the boat rocking when someone moves around. When I'm alone, I don't notice it at all. I've surfed my entire adolescent and adult life. And, have been fishing out of a kayak, standing up, for many years. I bounce around that thing like a monkey when I'm by myself. The boat handles light chop surprisingly well. Anything moderate to heavy, you start getting wet. She just sits so low in the water, it's going to happen. Having said that, I've had her out in choppier conditions than I really wanted to be in, took some water over the bow, got pretty wet. But, she plowed through like a champ! When it's glassy, she's sick! Easy to pole, rides nice, dreamy! I have a six cylinder Toyota Tacoma 4X4 now. But, when I purchased the boat I had a 2008 Ford Ranger 4 cyl. 2WD, absolutely no problems pulling the Micro! Sorry for the long winded response. Hope I've helped you out!
The backrest not being fold up is tough to live with. Access to that rear compartment is severely hindered. On a boat that only has two compartments, that is a huge con. I really hate the deck channels leading aft from the forward compartment. I know why there are there. I get it. But BT could have done something a lot better to accomplish that goal. I would be stepping on those all the time smashing toes, twisting ankles, and whatnot. Its a terrible design choice, and it would keep me off the front deck. Hard to imagine spending $25k-$30k on a flats skiff and not have the option for a second (second and third in a few cases) live/release/cooler well for this size class. Its a beautiful boat you got. Dont get me wrong. It looks great and you have set it up the best it can be set up.
free88 Thanks for the comment. You're right about the non-folding back rest. I plan on talking about that in a follow-up video. It is very cumbersome getting gear in and out of the rear compartment with this option. I keep everything I need in small plastic totes but, I still have to put them in and out from the side. BT has a folding back rest but, at my age, the step up to the polling platform is a trade off I'm willing to live with LOL I am, however, dreading the day when I have to get in that compartment to do any work! Also, interesting observation about the deck channels. They haven't hindered or bothered me in any way but, looking at other boat designs, I definitely see your point. Thanks again for your comments. I really do appreciate all thoughts points of view when it comes to design, functionality, etc.
@@knockdowncity8976 Everyone's use is different, so what may be a con to me is not necessarily a con to someone else. Some people will never replace a livewell pump, or bilge pump, etc., down in the bilge area, so its not a con to them to have such difficult access. That's the mechanics problem, not theirs. I only fish salt inshore, and almost exclusively in SWFL. Last boat was a 21 foot bay boat, but got over it. Comfortable, but spooks the fish too much. Fishing now out of a Gheenoe, which is a redfish and snook catching machine. But the comfort features are not there, and its not the most stable and safe boat when you got twin and triple outboard CC's blazing by you. Looking to get in the 16ft/6ft/50-60HP class.

Hey had a question about how long the whole build process took? From when you got the price to the moment it was ready for pick up. Really want to build one but don’t want to wait 6 months to get it
Hey Biscayne Boy, Man, I really don't remember. I saw your comment/question, and I thought about it, and I have no idea. I got my paperwork out for the entire build, and I have no record of when I placed the order! Sorry, I'm real bad about stuff like that! I'm pretty sure it was only about three months or so from the time I placed the order to the time I took delivery of the boat. I really can't remember though. I did hear that Beavertail was sold recently. I haven't followed up on this but, If so, that could affect everything about the way they did business before. I'm going to look into it...
@@knockdowncity8976 ah ok no worries another thing to take into consideration is that you bought yours pre covid so production probably takes twice as long now due to covid unfortunately but thanks for the info anyways !!
Is it tippy? What was your out the door price with your options? I wanna upgrade from a gheenoe lt25... just visited BT the other day....
@UCYwtn3Rm7Dkni8UXAwfcz9g I wouldn't say it's "tippy'" but it is a small boat.
KnockdownCity right on!
KnockdownCity what options did you get on it?
@@Xray.71 Basically, everything I show in the video is an option. The way it works is, you pick the model of boat you want, they give you a list of available options, and you build the boat you want. I'll be doing a video in the next few weeks on the options I chose and what I may, or may not do, differently now that I've had the boat for one year.
KnockdownCity right on, I did a water test with one yesterday, it’s tippy but a nice boat. Tough pill to swallow for 30,000.....
Beautiful setup and can't wait to get one early 2021. Could you tell me how wide the trailer is at it's widest point? Tight lines!
Very nice boat. Have you found the power pole and the trolling motor (with spot lock) to be redundant or do they each have their time and place?
Tight lines
Sweet skiff!
Thanks bud. I love it!
@@knockdowncity8976 exactly the amount of wind I was looking for in a reply! Thanks for the information!
Nice looking Beavertail. Do you still have it? Just curious if you were interested in selling
wish I could finace something like this be my kids come true beautiful family boat bud
@@KungPowEnterFist Yea, I fish inshore salt water only as well. Here in central East Fl. If you've seen any of my other videos, you know I kayaked for several years. Challenging, and a lot of fun. But, it was time for me to step up my game. And, I definitely know what you mean when it comes to boats swamping you! A Geenoe can be a great boat. They're actually made in the town I live in, Titusville. I know Sam Gheen personally! Good luck in your search for a flats boat. Like me, it sounds like you do your homework and research before making a purchase. Let me know what you decide on!
Great looking skiff! I am in the market for one as well. Haven't been able to find a micro to ride in yet. Right now between the Micro, mosquito, and gheenoe. What other skiffs did you consider? I am also coming over from a kayak.
Thanks Webmasta Dj! Honestly, I kinda knew I was getting the Micro all along after seeing a couple Beavertails and researching them. I checked out other skiffs, (mostly on line or in magazines,) I live near Hell's Bay Boatworks so I've seen a ton of them. Great boats! And, I live in the same town Gheenoes are made. I went with BT for the price, quality of the product, and reputation. There are other great skiffs out there, and, Gheenoe has some really great boats, (probably for a lot less money!) Anyway, good luck in your search for the right boat. Let me know what you decide on. Thanks for checking out my video!
@@knockdowncity8976 I am looking to purchase a Micro now. Would you be open to meeting up so I can take a look at your Micro before I pull the trigger?
@@djpic Yeah man, we can probably make that happen. I'm assuming you live in Central Fl..? Shoot me some contact info at rusallen80@yahoo.com
@@knockdowncity8976 Thanks...I reached out via email.
I really like your rig, so clean and well laid out, I'd pretty much pick all the same options, curious as to what something like that runs out the door w/ trailer?
Thanks Ryan! I'm not gonna lie, Beavertail boats are pricy. The base price on the Micro now is like, 22K. By the time you add all the options, (and I didn't mess around lol,) You're spending 30K for boat, motor, and trailer. But, The boat is awesome, brand new, and it's exactly the boat I want! No compromising. No dealing with other people's problems. Thanks for checking out the vid!
Top speed
thing is sicky
Thanks for the view/comment CJ! Yeah, minimalistic, but still has some bells and whistles :D
What are you promoting a boat company or a Beavertail? Boring!
Thanks for your critique.
