I can't believe you're doing this while wearing white. Thanks for the video!

Summary
1. Spray oven cleaner all over
2. Nylon bristlol scrub brush
3. Wipe down with paper towel
4. "Awesome" cleaner. Ammonia Free, No Acid, Non-flammable
5. Mr. Clean Eraser
6. Plastic knife / putty knife
I was stunned how phenomenally effective this was. I had persistent circular mold marks from a bath mat's suction cups and had tried EVERYTHING to remove them. I would estimate the oven cleaner and nylon brush removed 35% of the stain. The magic eraser COMPLETELY removed the remaining marks in about 5 minutes effort. It was amazing how effective the magic eraser was.
would you recommend just using the magic eraser for the same issue but lighter mold marks?
@@Jlaw01 absolutely. They left no apparent scratches on the porcelain whatsoever. I really don't understand why they worked so well while still seeming not to be abrasive to the tub itself at all. All I can say is that they worked with really minimal effort. I was shocked. I'd been preparing to try very fine grain sandpaper instead and am very glad I tried the magic eraser first. I had expected them to fail.
@@Jlaw01 that would be the easiest first step. if that doesn't work try the oven cleaner.
adulthood is: getting excited because someone in UA-cam uses the same cleaning product you use. Cleaning validation hitting on a different level
Wow what a difference - I never thought to use oven cleaner on a bathtub .... you forgot to talk about ventilation while using oven cleaner ...
And maybe mention trying to keep from washing the toxic products down the drain. It's great you use the paper to get as much as possible. :) I think of this, because I live in the countryside and everything I put down my drain goes into the soil via a special septic trap, but it's near my garden. I've since become very conscious of those critters.
Wow, so much better! I would've never thought to use oven cleaner. Thanks for the great tip!
Boy it looks a 1000 times better!
So I tried this and my tub looks great
My guess is a lot of the mess on that tub happened when re-tiling the tub walls. As a remodeler I would always cut a sheet of plywood to fit as a deck over the top of the tub leaving a 1/2" to 3/4" space around the walls for tile access. I would also pad and tape the top rim of the tub to keep the plywood off the tub surfaces. This protects the tub from the drips and debris from rocking, tiling and grouting the tub walls. The deck also gives you a stage to stand on to reach the higher sections of the walls. No need to do all that clean up.
Can't afford to reglaze quite yet. I have found the Foaming Bath Magic Eraser works even better.
I use the Magic Eraser on the walls, but use a pumice brick from Ace Hardware on the tub. Way faster that what you used. Try one.
Great demo video on how to clean stains, which is what I was looking for. I liked the list you started with and then the add-ons like rubber putty knife to your arsenal. Nice work on cleaning a horrible tub to make it presentable!
Wow so much better! Thank you for the video
Thank you so much! We're going to try your solution to hard water stains in our tub!
Vinegar and baking soda will get out at least some of the rust and hard water stains. I have never liked Magic Eraser. Every time I've used them they shred to pieces.
I would give you two thumbs up if I could. 1st off my husband needs to take note of how to do the honey do list. Lol 2nd we bought an old house and no one has lived here for probably 10 yrsthe original owner passed. My stains and build up are probably cooked on, so how long should I leave the oven cleaner? I dont want to leave it on too long and ruin the finish. Thanks for sharing this!!
All of this in a white, long-sleeve shirt?? You are a brave, brave man.
Thank you, I loved the tips, but due to herniated discs and chronic back pain, I can't maintain my bathtub. Any tips are welcome
Gotta hand it to man looks 10 times better....thx 4 the video
oh my god! where did you get this filthy bathtub, gumtree?
Plastic putty knife seemed to be the MVP
Oh he something Else! I use oven cleaner for everything too
Use Lacquer thinner with 600-800 grit wet sand paper and it will work better than the Mr Clean Scrubbing pad
Thank you. I used a friend of mine to spray the other units tub. It looks brand new
Some great ideas but you’d be smart to wear a protective ventilator mask, or an N95 at least - with moldy stuff and harsh cleaning solvents, protect those lungs
i've heard white spirit works too in getting years of grime off a bathtub or shower
if youve ever felt weird about reminding people to like a video, dont. i didnt rememeber to leave a like. it does actually help
How on Earth did you keep that white sweatshirt clean
I was impressed. I would NEVER wear anything with long sleeves when working with chemicals!
I would have ripped it out and put in a new one. That’s a lot of work. Peroxide works well on rust
Liquid Bar Keepers does a great job as well. I have VERY hard well water here and my tiles are red.
Have you ever tried turpentine and salt mixture 1:1 ratio? But overall I’m super impressed at the results you got!
hi, does this work? I don't know what AWESOME is. We don't have that here where I am, in Africa! Or it will have a different name for sure...
Linda J awesome harsh on the lungs better wear a mask 😷 and open a window & have a fan going. All those chemicals he mixed is not safe
Hydrogen peroxide really has a chemical reversal on rust. I can’t figure out what gallon bottle is.
Could you put the equivalent of your cleaning products to what we’d use in uk. Got the oven cleaner but what would the other products be . Many thanks
This little ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.
Thank You for the Idea
Next time use hot water and flush the dirt instead of paper toweling it out, less work. Looks good though. Also bar keepers power is better then awesome 👌
I think he did not use hot water Down the drain because you do not want grout and mortar to get into your water lines and harden.
Kaboom toilet bowl cleaner and eraser alot better and easier no scrubbing at all
I don’t know if its the camera and lighting, but that bathtub is dirty in a very strange way... it looks like it was used as a trash dumpster during construction and filled with water, thats why it’s dirty at the bottom and clean everywhere else. Again, it could be just lighting and camera
you're right. it was from a neglected several years plus most recently a catch all for a bathroom remodel
Mine is yellow stains, well water. Will this work? I tried toilet bowl cleaner, didn't work
This is good
When you put the Awesome in you should have plugged the tub, so you could have it there for better cleaning. Just saying
Amazing job! ✨✨✨
Did you tile and install the floors yourself or use a 3rd party?
I bought a small bottle of white porcelain paint one time from an appliance dealer....I touched up a couple of spots in my microwave.
The magic erasers literally last 10 minutes of scrubbing..lol..not very durable
Please put that bottle of something in the notes. I don’t live in your region so I have to find a comparable product at Home Depot.
Wait are you using a DRY magic eraser!?
How is he breathing all those chemicals.. awesome is harsh on the lungs
It's actually not that bad. I had a mask and the window open but when I took the mask off there weren't any fumes
Mask? And why not Ajax
2 thumbs up for elbow grease
That awesome is strong, you need a mask when using it
What is the yellow bottle name? and buy from where?
it is called Awesome. I believe they sell it at Home Depot but the best place to get it that I know of is dollar general. If you have either of those stores near you.
Dollar Tree sells it. You can get a 32oz bottle or a spray bottle for a buck. 👍
name : AWESOME : ... yellow liquid cleaner in the clear bottle w/ redorange letteeing ...
DOLLAR TREE ...
Wow amazing job
I'm exhausted. Honestly, if my daughter doesn't remove a heavy duty bath mat every time she showers, I'm going to run screaming. I'm tired of cleaning up after her. She is having guests & I get to clean. What a mess. Oven cleaner, I don't use that ever.
Ajax and a scrubber leaves it like new 😊
Not always, just grime and soap build-up is all it does for me. Water stains go nowhere.
Jeez, that is not a shower.. Looks more like a construction parts cleaning tub...
Kaboom toilet bowl cleaner and magic eraser works thousand time better no scrubbing
i've got the same problem. i'll be ripping mine out and putting in a walk in shower. this isnt the 1800's. nobody uses bathtubs anymore. i just need to get in and get out so i can go to work. i dont have the luxury to sit in a tub filled with $20 worth of water and stare at the ceiling.
People with kids use tubs to bathe their children. If you’re in a typical single family residential area with young families you might not want to get rid of the only tub. If you plan on selling in the future.
Or give your dog a bath. But besides yourself, other people like to sit and soak, especially in city areas where nobody has a swimming pool and it's hot and humid, it's a great way to cool down. Just think of the tub as a taller shower floor.
bro, u look like Canelo
I would HATE to have to do this.
You could have bot a normal spray bottle it would have been just 1 more dollar
Unanswered questions:
1. Why are you wearing a nice white shirt?
2. How did you not get it dirty?
If it was me I would run some water.. That would be a lot easier ..than at the end Fill up the bad tub with water and run it through
Would have been nice if someone had protected the tub with a tarp or plastic sheet during the tile job.
I am the one who did the tile job. lol. My initial plan was to have it re glazed which I usually do but decided to save it this time.
He ought to have. mask on to keep from breathing in those fumes from the oven cleaner...just saying.
NEVER, EVER USE OVEN CLEANER ON A TUB OR SINK. It will completely ruin it. I had someone I hired to clean my house and she ruined my tub doing this. I don't blame her, she didn't know. But this guy should know better!!!
Nails on a chalkboard 😬😬😬😬😬
but great video. It’s me not you 🥸
is this bathroom from your SMOKER HOUSE? the video you posted last month?
Yes it is! The Upper unit completed now. Just waiting for a couple appliances to be delivered and I share the unveiling video.
Where your tub really,that dirty.
Made my back hurts watching you try my method you'll throw all that away but the eraser and gloves kaboom toilet bowl cleaner ur good to go
@@johngalt5411 yeah I just found out myself they discontinued it really upset because it took me a year to find something that actually worked ,
You lost me at the "magic Eraser" they don't work
Eraser will work with kaboom toilet bowl cleaner ur tub will look brand new . Pour kaboom and wipe down eraser done no wait time no scrubbing or bending over for a long time
You titled this to be fast. Then you say 12 minutes in that it takes a lot of scrubbing. On top of that when you claimed to be done it was still stained.
No mask?
Ur tough!
You're cute
I just know you could barely move your arms the next day.
sup nerd
Re-glazed would have been a big plus, Get to it.
This bathtub is not porcelain. It is metal with enamel finish, like most tubs that are not fiberglass.
A Magic eraser is not a scrubber. First, you get it wet. Then, you glide it over the surface like an.... eraser!
He forgot to mention ventilation when using oven cleaner
Rather than mention his lack of a spray bottle over and over, he should have driven to a different store to get one.
When pouring the liquid around the tub, he should have put it in a small cup first. That's an easy way to avoid wasting it.
This video is useless to anyone who does not have a bathtub full of mortar and sheetrock. While it is entertaining to see a well-built young man working his ass off, I don't need to do that to clean my tub.
Thank-you! Thank-you!! Thank-you!!! Anyone who owns an old porcelain tub knows how difficult it can be to keep clean. I've literally tried just about EVERY concoction that I could think of. This works!! Again, thank-you so very much for this video!😊 Happy just doesn't begin to describe how I'm feeling right now!!
