I am binging on your videos and getting hyped about moving to Da Nang. You deserve a million subs. Your videos are so informative and I love your chill and happy vibe. Vietnam is way cheaper than Thailand! You need at least $1,500 per month just to break even. That will only cover rent, food, bills, and maybe transportation. If you need anything else like gym, going out, travel, clothes, etc. you need at least $2,000. I teach online but bookings have been low so I am looking at other digital nomad gigs I could do. I could be saving a lot in Da Nang plus you have that wonderful beach and mountains.
I'm a former chef, baker and and pastry chef. I was low-key worried about the ability to get larger amts of eggs, flour, etc..because I bake *a lot* . Great video because now I know I can still buy my usual kitchen staples in bulk if I want.
Thanks again for another video of value! Great insight on "Americanized" grocery store. Some of the imported stuff is a bit more expensive, but the cost of fresh produce at the market more than makes up for it.

I think that fruit is called sapodilla in English. It's pretty tasty and sweet. The Mega Market looks as big as a Walmart or a Costco. Everything looks pretty fresh as well.

Asian pear is another fruit that is very similar to a pear, Pyrus pyrifolia or Nashi pear, just a little softer and more juicy, crunchy. Sapodilla is softer when ripe and much sweeter, most are smaller than Asian pear.

Of course. I personally pay $55/mo. for it. Maybe $10/mo. for Gas. Speed is not an issue. If you want to climb steep mountains, then power would be an issue. But for anything else, it works well. I've never had to push it further than 40 mph. But it could go much more than that.

Haha. No worries... All valid questions :) no at first we bought bicycles, so for a few months we either used Grab to go far, or we rode our bicycle. After a while we needed to go ride with our friends and we were the only ones without a bike, so eventually we found out if we got the 50cc, we would not need a license (anyone can ride this legally) so we rented one. If you want to legally ride a bike more powerful than the 50cc you do need a license and you can obtain one here if you d like... It took me a few days to get comfortable in the streets here because they are very unique in how the traffic works with bikes but once you get the hang of it. It becomes second nature :)
Bring your international license and exchange for the Vietnamese international license. Cost you around 30$ - 50$. If you are going to Danang then it will take you 3 days for the exchange. Very easy.

Nice video. However, I wouldn’t call you weekly grocery budget cheap, even for two people. Here in the states you can spend about the same amount at Aldi or Walmart for the type of products you purchased. I’m assuming the other stores you mentioned are a lot cheaper. I would’ve had a different opinion if most of the items you purchased were from western countries. If you purchased all of that for $40, then I would say that was cheap. Appreciate the details though.

Yes, prices to income are very high. Presently, here in Turkey I spend around 30-50% less in higher quality and variety. Like cheese, olives etc. They also grow bananas, but no mango or pineapples.
That definitely calls for another video about living here on a budget. Maybe I should be maybe mentioned that MY lifestyle is not on the cheaper ones out here... Because most people spend way less than I. I will work on that...
12:04 I really hate this system. When it's busy it sucks. They do it like this in China. There was a fancy grocery in Texas called Central Market that allows you to weigh and label everything yourself. Some twats will still just have the cashier do it and then we all wait longer.

Vietnamese buy their daily foods from the street farm market. You can find lots of farm fresh veggies, fish, tofu ect...and very very cheap too...

So I just looked into it :). The OFFICIAL name for it is apparently "Manilkara zapota". But commonly knows as "Sapodilla" 🤷🏽♂️

Here in the states you can spend about the same amount at Aldi or Walmart for the type of products you purchased. I’m assuming the other stores you mentioned are a lot cheaper. I would’ve had a different opinion if most of the items you purchased were from western countries. If you purchased all of that for $40, then I would say that was cheap. Appreciate the details though.
Actually you are correct. If you go directly to the market completely. That would be much cheaper. Maybe I should make a part two video on Grocery Shopping on a Budget or something... Going to the true local places...

Yes, prices to income are very high. Presently, here in Turkey I spend around 30-50% less in higher quality and variety. Like cheese, olives etc. They also grow bananas, but no mango or pineapples.
That definitely calls for another video about living here on a budget. Maybe I should be maybe mentioned that MY lifestyle is not on the cheaper ones out here... Because most people spend way less than I. I will work on that...

12:04 I really hate this system. When it's busy it sucks. They do it like this in China. There was a fancy grocery in Texas called Central Market that allows you to weigh and label everything yourself. Some twats will still just have the cashier do it and then we all wait longer.

eating street food and in restaurants is so cheap, i would never do any grocery shopping here.....vendors with fresh fruit everywhere on the street, no need for grocery shopping.....
Definitely correct :) you don't need to spend much to eat good here... we just have those habits I guess, we will work our way to a more local experience eventually :)

Hey Binh. It is growing! It is nowhere close to Chiang Mai Thailand but it is growing fast. So many people have come here from Chiang Mai and wonder why they didn't come here earlier :) the thing is Da Nang is just becoming a popular destination so I think it is not Huge, but it is getting there... :)
