This was his 'victory run'. Ofcourse it's not gonna be his best performance - he is emotional, shocked, incredibly happy, full of adrenaline, tired. You should've done him justice and picked his original performance.

Some advice for future Eurovision videos:
Winners get to perform their song one last time at the end of the contest. At this performance, winners are usually very overwhelmed and sing flat or their vocals crack. In this video, you featured one of such "winner's performances". It's generally better to take the original performance because that's when the singers are at their best

Duncan wrote this song while he was still a student at the Rock academy for a friend who died years ago and who had hope that her loved one would come to her before she died. Which he didn't.
The song is about hope, close but hard to reach. The Nakedness in the clip means vulnerability and the surface of the water stands for hope, love, light and the wish to reach it.

They don't play the piano live cuz they aren't allowed on eurovision ;)
In Eurovision, they aren't allowed to play instruments for real. They are allowed to 'play' the instruments on stage but they are not making any sounds, so every instrument you might hear is a recording. Don't ask me why, it's just that way haha

Some background info: Duncan was a student at the rock academy in Tilburg, The Netherlands, where he studies song writing and performing. He had entered the voice before where he met Ilse the Lange (his coach at the voice). As a former Eurovision candidate, she recommended Duncan to the selectors from the Netherlands.
He was unknown in the Netherlands up until the release of Arcade. It was his first single. He wasn't a known name in our country at all. He's the definition of an underdog, which definitely helped strengthen his appeal

And tbh, Tristan may be one of those people: he is super tendentious and he never does any prior research (because it's a reaction channel, I get it - but it shows his lack of interest).
