Easy way to get huge calves, gain 100 pounds and walk around a lot for a year, then lose the weight and boom, massive calves.
+Matthew James Tip #6 😉
Buff Dudes how about a video concerning effective calves routine
i have been seriously considering this lately.....
Matthew James lol I was really overweight and I kept my good calves but for some reason my forearms look skinnier
What if you just walk around with weights in a backpack?
My biggest calf mistake is thinking that they'll actually grow.
UnoriginalUsername25 thats the thing buddy get bigger weights / more explosive exercices for the calves to really hit them
UnoriginalUsername25 hahahaha😂
"25 Ib weights" LOOOOOOOOOOOL
You realize your calves/legs can hold INSANE amounts of weight compared to your other body parts?
A great way to graw calf muscles is to inline skate. My calf's are huge and I'm only 17.
Raggex X mate you need like 45 kilo dumbells ans do standing calf raises on the edge of a stair. Those light weights will only tone your calves not make them get really big
Calves are another name for biceps right??
I do believe it is Scandinavian for Biceps lmao
Conner? You here? love your videos :D
Naate57 hey thanks dog
Conner Cox 😅😂👏👌👍
+Conner Cox I thought it was another name for hitting Back, well, the more you know i guess,
Calves = biceps daily noted hehe xD
number 1 tip to bigger calves. Become a farmer. start raising them calfs 🐄🐄
lol
Half the time I feel we make videos just so we can read the witty comments.
not calfs, "calves" actually. sorry, i'm an english language teacher.
+Scott Giles I love and hate this comment 'cause it's soooooo good, fuck you for being funny and take your +1. I love it.
+Scott Giles Hahaha lmao xD

Pretty much 90% of male pop..I'm part of that 10%. I love workin my legs.
I must add, "blaming genetics" IS THE BEST excuse out there. It is the biggest limiting factor in calf size.
Most people with decent calves have them 100% due to genetics. They may train them, but they would be big either way, even if they didn't train them.
Using Arnold as an example of a small calf person who overcame the genetics "excuse" is bad because he was on steroids. Show me a 100% legitimate natural who started out with small (less than 14.5") calves who grew them to nice calves. THAT is what I'd like to see, and that is who I would take advice from.
No offense to anyone but it's hard to take advice from people with genetically gifted calves or steroid users when it comes to growing calves for a natural, small calf person.
Gluten Even roids don't do much for bad calve genetics.
Dan Haines yeah I mean it still will be a ton of work, but with roids we've seen it's possible. I.e. Arnold.
I've yet to see a legitimate natural with small calves pre-lift grow them to be decent sized. It's always guys who already had decent calves, or guys who are steroid users. (or both)
Gluten Arnolds calves were high and slim well into his training years but in the movie twins they are pretty big despite the rest of him shrinking away. I suspect implants on that. Anyway, it's no excuse not to have a dedicated calve day if you weight train. Train what you have!
Dan Haines lol yeah I still try. They've gotten quite strong just not big.
Tom Reid not quite sure what the big yawn is for, since the rest of your comment is in alignment with what I said.
1. deadlift
2. squat
3. repeat 1 and 2.. a lot
4. hold at the top and bottom during calf raise
This video is screaming Omar Isuf.
Blasphemy. Why would you bring him up here?
@Arthbor Blackraven no, he just has small calves. He jokes about it himself
Is that Buff Dad at about 6 minutes in? 😍
someone tag OmarIsuf here please
2 tips I would add: constant tension (biking), and explosive training (box jumps, cleans, sprints)
tip number 6: include standing calf raises. The seated calf raise focuses mostly on the soleus, not the gastrocnemius which is the bigger muscle in the back on the calf
Team chicken legs 👋
I swear these videos are getting better and better
Still need to focus on my beard gains to be at your level.
Why
May look a bit odd if others see you, but if you have lots of flights of stairs at home/work then just putting half of your foot on the next step and using your calves to raise you up to the next step is my tip. Can feel it after a few floors
One of the best fitness channels, period.
6: Hit calves with high reps. At least 15 reps per set for soleus (seated calf raises) and at least 12 reps for the gastrocnemius muscles (standing calf raises)
Thanks for this video. I know of these things, but so many people need to see this, especially the bouncing part.
LOVE the new Buff Dudes quality on the videos!
calf workouts for no equipment: heel raises, toe raises, and even just running builds them well!
The quality of this channel is going up!
Can you guys please make a video on fixing muscular imbalance? My right lat feels dominate in back excercises, and my right quad is bigger and feels dominate in squats
awesome video very important CALF LIVES MATTER
The editing on these vids is top notch! Felt like I was watching some retro 80's show. Keep up the awesome work!!
Also when training calves, it's a good idea to wear a shoe with a lighter sole to really get the most out of the work out. An ametur wrestling style shoe such as Otomix or Asics is optimal. You definitely don't want a shoe with a bulky sole when working calves because traditional soles in other shoes will essentially block the muscle from being truly worked and stimulated.
I had to measure arms and calves to see the ratio and to my surprise they were exactly the same size. I´m not a big guy tho and I´m sure the more you train the worse the ratio tends to become. Nice video!
I have massive calves, in fact my thighs and calves are way too big, I walk pretty much everywhere and it's all hills, so my problem is slimming my legs down.
Believe me, when you work out your legs, you will feel a lot better about yourself!! More so than your arms. it's easy to work your arms. working out your legs take dedication and persistence and will lead you to be more proud, confident and more motivated! You can do it! you wanna work them buns. Nobody like wet soggy bread right? get em firm!! I would say I'm fairly balanced, just need to lose wait, and tone my abs a bit.
Diggin that V neck. Might have to hop on over to the site & snag one
Finish every weighted set of calf raises with body weight raises. It will help
Good as always. Keep up the good work Buff Dudes!
I never knew people considered calves a chore. I love doing them. I always found them to be a cool muscle because of just how strong they are. The way it was put to me is, just think of how effortlessly you can stand on your toes. Even on one foot. Your calves take your whole body weight like it's nothing!
Problem: weak calves. Answer: barefoot shoes. Having your heel lower to the floor extends the Achilles and the calf muscle making each do more work in calf or leg exercises. Plyometrics, circuits, cycling and running all improve calf definition and bulk. You'll see a lot of runners with huge calves and no arms - the opposite to the gym dude who skipped leg day. But it's essentially the same principle.
Mistake number six: you don't have to use gym equipment to build calfs
Like people said you could walk but there's other exercise like road cycling or off-road cycling
Swimming, incline sprints
Love the intro video. Nice improvement. Thanks for the info on calves. Totally helpful.
Do your calf raises at the BEGINNING OF YOUR WORKOUT with one leg at a time. Have one set with feet pointed inward, then another with feet pointed out, and then the last one with both feet with feet pointed forward on a horizontal platform to failure (leg press could work). Then do the same with standing and sitting calf raises. Do this 3x a week, with 8-15 reps and your calves will grow!! My calves grew 3 inches from having stick legs, and man it is great lol! Let me know if this helps!
I have best genetics for calves, they grew by themselves lol
OGWAZ lmao me too
OGWAZ Hahaha same.... oh wait nvm :(
I see this all the time. People bounce the weight up and down. No one does what i do at the gym. LOWER IT SLOW ( COUNT TO 5 WHEN AT THE BOTTOM) RAISE IT SLOW ( COUNT TO FIVE WHEN AT THE TOP). REPEAT 10 TO 15 REPS PER SET.
my legs shake when i do calf raises. Not that the weight is heavy, i can lift it pretty easily, but when trying to go slowly, my legs shake. It doesn't hurt or anything, but it's a little annoying. Any tips?
usually its because they're not used to the exersize. Maybe try to do them very light, see how they react to that. Might also that the form is wrong. Or its a physical problem. Who knows
No matter what you can handle, start easy, do them slow with full range, you`ll feel it when they start to get use to it. Keep going strong!
Andefir i get it when benchpress
Mine do too, but only sitting raises and I've been at it for 10+ yrs lifting heavy. just ignore it, keep at it and mix that sh!t up.
yeah same, it doesn't happen when i do standing calf raises
Damn was waiting for that bicep at the end so i can synchronize saying "stay buff", but then the pop up widow showed. Savage.
Great video as always and I'm gonna join you on your lean bulk crusade, but without the beard- don't have any, a.k.a baby face :D
Blonde dude is making hair gains👱
You've seen me I'd kiss him
You've seen me ahhhhh Tessa Taylor?
Hair farmer hes half way to cropping out
i love working legs, I have big quads and calves naturally, got lucky with genetics, and I hit calves individually 2 times per leg day. Once on the machine, and once on a smith and a little step up thingy it works good :)
Arnold never had that bad calves really. He saw himself as having bad calves but It was mostly because his own perfectionist mind and he wanted them to look symmetric with the rest of his body. I think he mentioned that calves should be the same size as neck and biceps and as we all know he had great biceps so it took years of hard work to get the rest of his body to match those arms. He always had bigger calves than most people even back in those days.
I struggle with building calves due to having clubbed feet. I have about 30% of normal range of motion. It really keeps me from engaging my soleus. My feet also wear out long before my calves...
Still gotta do the work, but the results are slow.
didn't Arnold have calf Implants?
Not that I know of.
you guys rock. your videos are entertaining and funny , good job !
LMFAO!!! That thumbnail got me rolling!!
mother of god!
some parts of the body are just designed in a specific way where they dont appear to take up much space from certain angles, and actually don't via certain dimensions. Their actual mass may be different however.
steve122288 God doesn't have a mother
Awesome vid keep em coming boys
I am going to be honest I did 2 years of marching band and working out and my calves are just amazing...
this guy uses pantene Lol
great video mate
#NotificationSquad
edsanz2 yoooooo
Showed up in my feed…clicked for the thumbnail😆
Enjoyed the video pretty much and enjoyed the humour. Good job guys
💪😠STAY BUFF!!!
Ironic thing is, another issue is some guys have GOOD genetics for calves so they won’t work them. I have good genetics for calves but I still work them just like any other muscle. I’ve always wore shorts in the gym too, pants are just uncomfortable to me. Only time I wear pants in there is if I go there directly from work an I gotta go into work early that night or whatever. I’m 5’6 so that would explain my calves lol
*Number 1 mistake = Not being born with the right genetics.*
Seriously, the biggest most badass looking calves I've ever seen are on a chubby diabetic guy who's never worked out a day in his life. Meanwhile, skinny dudes can bust their asses day in day out for years and barely show any progress at all. ....You should still work them anyway though.
This. I only wish I had a camera so I could post it whenever this question comes up. Calves are 90% genetic no matter what you do. The best advice will get you that controllable 10% which is all you have to work with.
I never minded leg day and i actually enjoy calf workouts.
finally some real NATURAL fitness youtubers
theses guys are bad ass !!! funny and informative
Subbed because this video was hilarious.
Been doing very competitive club soccer plus school soccer. Core and waist down are very strong. Pretty defined core + big calves and quads but I gotta work on chest and arms
I definitely don't have the best genetics for calves but I'm actually going to use my bad genetics as an excuse to prioritise them not ignore them!🦵🦵
every video of you guys are so interesting !
That's a great compliment Ankit, thank you!
are you going to make a video of your calf routine? pls do :D
love you guys, best fitness channel on youtube lol
u guys r awesome keep up the work
Got yourself a new subscriber.
buff dad rules. really, hes the best
Arnold was rumored to have had calf implants because he went overseas for a few months, came back, and they'd grown 3-4 inches...
Where can I find that theme song. I'd like to purchase a copy to use as a badass ringtone...
As a Highland games athlete, I have to train my calves. They're always on display under the kilt.
I've always had calves without wotking them ,but when started jumping rope alot I mean alot my calves really came out now I hit them hard.
I loved the thumbnail. Great gag
I built my legs by walking with extra weight in a backpack, biking with extra weight in a backpack, lawnmowing, shoveling snow, and walking a husky a good distance per day. I was also fat as a child, so I had to move that weight too... I've had beefy legs since I've been a child. I shedded almost all of my fat when I was a teen, and been gaining muscle since!
Edit: I'm also genetically gifted to having a stocky body.
My legs are my most developed muscles I have!
I am not gonna thank myself.. I am gonna thank you guys!
Calf raise inbetween each squat and shrug, walking and running
COuld you do the dorsa/plantar section in an arnold voice Brandon?
BUFF Dudes making videos interesting as always 👌
Lol! That intro is hilarious!
Great vid but damn I was just looking at the hair so much volume and shine
awesome video
I used to do calves less than 10 times a year.
Now I will do it 5 days a week
Does anyone else think Brandon is more and more looking like a very young and ripped Santa Claus?
My calves grow when I do squats. Ass to grass squats really helps. I used to have chicken legs, but they're slowing getting bigger.
Yes indeed ^
what we have all been waiting for
My calves are big, and almost dont train them. In the other hand i have tiny 17 arms and dont matter how i train, they doesnt look to be getting bigger
Love the Buff Dude videos but prefer the old buff dude intro music
i love this 80's Intro :P
man i laughed so hard while watching this video,Your videos are Great ! ,DUDES
when i hit my calf's hard😥 finish the sesh jump in the car and try holding the clutch 😂😂😂...
Subscribed within the first minute of vid LOL
I was that guy with no calve i work them out 2-3 times a week at the end of my workout i ended with good looking calve took ke about 5 months for the result
So is it Ok to work calves every other day along other muscle groups not only leg day?
Varsity track and XC yeet yeet
Great video except you didn't stress the need to do standing raises or donkey raises. Seated only won't cut it.
House of cards did fall down. Thanks Spacey.
Great beard Brandon!
still a proud member of #teamnocalves
I wish the gym that I go to is always empty like that.
