  • Sydney radio station commenced broadcasting on the AM band on 15 February 1932. In June 2020 the station was sold to Sports Entertainment Network who moved 2CH to DAB+ only on 22 October 2020 so that they could launch a sports format on 1170AM.
On 10 June 2022 at 6pm, after 90 years on air 18 months an a DAB+ only station, 2CH ceased broadcasting. Here is the final hour on air (with songs and ads edited out) hosted by Jane Nield with Eddie Olek.
Of interest are the ads directing listeners to move to 2UE 954 to continue listening to classic hits. This is unusual as 2UE is owned by a competing network (owned by Nine Radio and operated by ACE Radio), but several 2CH presenters have made to move to 2UE in recent years and as a result of 2CH closing down.
At 6pm, after a breif pause, the audio feed on DAB+ and the web stream cut to "SEN Coast" - SEN Track's feed for 801AM Gosford.
Final song to air: ABBA - Thank You for the Music.
Recorded from the web stream at www.2ch.com.au

This was on my birthday. Even Aussie radio isn't safe from badly conceived format changes 😂

Very sad to see this station cease. My Nan amd Pop loved this station when they were alive.

2CH RIP. We loved you for so long. Can't see the KIISs and similar lowbrow radio stations still around in 90 years. Why advertise the station as 'Forever on the AM Band on 1170"? That statement was its death knell.
