Thank you! Many UA-camrs who call themselves productivity masters waste a lot of time on such videos. You did really well and this is how it should be done.
Glad it was helpful!
Agree!
Thank you. I watched 4 others before coming across yours and NOW I understand it. Great explanation.
Glad it was helpful! We are doing a new series for new Airtable users starting in 2022 - here's the first video in that series: ua-cam.com/video/gyr-H3Soh7w/v-deo.html
Thanks very much for this channel of Airtable videos. I have been looking for someone to do this as the creators seem to have abandoned the support through video for this. The videos are informative and well presented. Looking forward to learning more!
Really happy to have you here, thanks Neil!
Airtable...wow! I had no idea. Love it so far :)
Thanks Gareth. Your doing the 🌎 a service by showing us the road to dawn. Much 💘 an blessings to you an your kin forever.

I am just starting to Use tus App... seremos really good and simple to manage. Thanks for your tutoríal. Very good
Just found out about Airtable today and searching for guidance/tutorial. thanks for the video :)
Glad it was helpful!
Would this app work to establish a snail mail list? We are collecting prospective clients’ info and need a place to organize this data and to track what and when we’ve mailed things out. I am assuming this might be a good place for an app like this...🤷🏾♀️
Yes, Airtable would be a great solution for that!
@@GarethPronovost Thanks so much! I will investigate it a little more before taking the plunge. Thanks, again. :)
This video is very helpful. I was just introduced to airtable. Your video is very informative and I look forward to learning more. I just subscribed to your channel and I look forward to getting caught up with the other videos. 👍
Thanks for watching!

Very nice tutorial, my dad asked me to check Air Table out and this video explained it very well :)
Glad it was helpful!
Really helpful and well done video, Gareth. Thank you for putting it together.
Airtable very cool piece of software... Really looking forward to shifting my data into Airtable...
Thank you for this video. I was asked to create an Airtable form for the project and had o idea what to do. Feeling confident now.
Thank you for this!! Started a new project recently and the team I'm with uses airtable and I have never used it before, so this video super helpful!
So glad you found it useful! I try to answer new Airtable questions in a video ever week, so please let me know if you have any specific troubles I can help with!
Amazing video! learned a lot! thanks so much :)
Thanks Vienna!
Great video. Can you change the date format to dd/mm/yr
You can change it in the formatting of the field, or also create a formula to reinterpret/reformat the output b
Great video with very clear points, thank you
Thanks for watching and for the feedback!
DUDE! Very useful. Thanks
Thanks Shane - glad it helped!
Dude you rock!! Great Tutoria!
Thanks man, glad it helped!
Well done. This helps.
Glad to hear it!
Can you recommend how you would use different bases for project management work? Would you have a base that lists all open projects, or a different base for each? At any given point we have 40-50 active projects and 20-30 in 'pre-project'. What's the best way to maintain a single list of all of those projects within Airtable?
I'd suggest putting all of your projects in one table and having a status field that tells you what stage the project is in. For example, you might have 'proposal, onboarding, phase I, phase II, project complete'
Then, you can build new 'views' for each phase of projects - this way you only see the projects that require attention. This also works great when you have different team members who are in charge of various steps in the process. Assign each team member to a specific view and have them go from there.
thank you! and now i understand how to use it
No problem!
Great explanation. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
How does one widen the cards in the gallery? Thanks
Thanks in a million. Amazing.
Thanks so much for such a detailed and easy to understand tutorial! Tfs🙏💕
Anytime - thanks for watching!
Thanks for the play list, it's so wealthy
I'm honored you think so. 🙌
Really helpful overview, thanks Gareth. Ignore the negative point below, that person was obviously having a bad day.
Thanks Jennifer - glad it helped and your comment had me laughing. Can't make everyone happy all the time, right? :D
Very helpful to get started
it's so helpfull. many thanks
Glad you think so - thanks for watching!
that was very informative, thank you for sharing this video, keep up the good work.
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the simple explanation. keeping the no-code idea value up! very intuitive
So excel simplified and working context not within a sheet, but separate table and just work with headers and types like in regular database design.
I would say it’s more a simplified database table design app more so than a spreadsheet.
Would I be able to send a link to prospects in order to capture data in Airtable?
Absolutely! 💯
Hello. Interesting concept, it looks easy to use as a small database. Question, can users/passwords be created, are there accessibility options like administrative, read-only, etc., can it produce PDF or Word reports, how about scripts?
Hey Mauricio - thanks for the question!
- Each user will require their own login and password
- You can share a read only view, and limit accessibility with a password
- There are four levels of permissions in Airtable, from read only (always free), commenter, editor, and creator. The second - fourth of these are all paid users if you are on a paid tier
- There is a block (part of the pro subscription) that can output to a PDF (ua-cam.com/video/HyfE57VoLNY/v-deo.html)
- Regarding scripts, if you are looking for If-this-than-that logic, Airtable integrates nicely with Zapier for the purpose of automated workflows
Hope this helps!
Excellent
Thanks!
Awesome tutorial! This will definitely help me take my accounting firm to the next level.
Thanks for watching!
Hi,
Please help me know if we can create custom search form in sortable having textbook/dropdowns and as per that search query, it searches and displays data on UI
Hi, I'm sorry I don't fully understand the question, but you can create a form that pulls data from Airtable as options in the form. I cannot display data on a UI without a third-party tool. For this, you may consider exploring this video to learn more (ua-cam.com/video/b_wBsLdZGI4/v-deo.html).
Hi! How do you become an air table consultant?
I'll be launching a course on this very topic soon. If you're interested in learning more, make sure you're on my email list (you can sign up at garethpronovost.com)
Thanks ! Do you know a platform to create a beautiful website from airtable ?
better than Table2site ;)
Depends on your goal.
If you want to give people access to your database through a user interface or portal, check out Stacker at stacker.app
If you want a public facing website, you can either write some custom API code, or use embed blocks. Otherwise, Table2Site is still the best platform out there at this time.
Great video, thanks Gareth!
Hi Gareth, are you able to sort pivot table data from largest to smallest in Airtable?
Hey Steve - good question. The truth is, it depends. For example, if your pivot rows are a single select field, then you CAN adjust the sorting of the pivot table. To do this, you would just need to rearrange the order of the single select options inside of the field customization.
However, if your pivot rows are a formula or number field, I don't believe you can re-sort the order (it will automatically rank from smallest to largest).
That's not to say that it's not possible to find a workaround! But, I haven't found one yet.
Interesting that when you access your account from the Android app it says you can't yet look at a gallery view, but if you share the gallery view from your desktop browser and open that link on your Android it opens the gallery view in the Airtable app.
Great tip!
@@GarethPronovost Thanks. I just added a Button field with "Open URL" and the gallery view URL in the base so anytime I'm looking at the grid view on Android I can just tap the button to switch to the gallery view.
Gareth, this is very helpful information. Thank you. My question is how do I determine the best layout to use for a table? For example, I'm a freelancer. I have a dozen clients I work with every month, and on average, I'm completing a dozen projects for each of those 12 clients. There are roughly 5 or 6 tasks that occur with each project. There is SO MUCH DATA to look at. I'd love some assistance figuring out a way that I can keep track of everything I need to work on. Would it best to create one table for each client and then have a field for each project? I'm using Trello right now and it's just overwhelming and cluttered to look at one board with tasks for all 12 clients on it. Any suggestions are much appreciated!
Good video. Thanks.
Great video, thanks so much
So happy it was helpful!
Thank you. Very helpful!
My pleasure! :)
Thank you Sir.
Glad it's helpful!
If I have several boxes with multiple items in them and I want to find a specific item, can I do a search and fine which box that item is in?
You can use CTRL+F (the standard 'find' shortcut) to search for a specific item!
Awesome video! Thanks a million... looking forward to see the video on using relationships with different tables.
Hey - thanks for the comment and welcome to the channel!
You can check out that video here:
ua-cam.com/video/hxulKNGllYw/v-deo.html
Is there a limit on the number of rows (records) Airtable can handle? Excel taps out at around a million rows. Can Airtable handle "big data"? And what formats can you export to? thanks ~
Hey Gregg, so far Airtable's 'pro' plan caps out at 50k - definitely a long way to go to catch up with Excel, but fantastic for the average small business!
Price of the software?
They have a freemium model - so free to sign up and get basic functionality - it goes up from there (I pay $24 per month for myself - more for my team)
I have a video regarding their pricing model here: ua-cam.com/video/hJIAW97iMHc/v-deo.html
Not tech minded AT ALL. Have been invoicing using PayPal, adding to a calendar manually and adding to an excel spreadsheet manually. Too time consuming. Can you please help me Gareth?
There isnt anything on this video that you can't do on google drive
I use airtable.. First time it was good.. but when my app user up to 20 thousand this app not get data from airtable base.. Sometime working but most of the time not working
Hi! Thanks for watching! I agree, Airtable is a great solution in most cases. However, the API is limited to 5 requests per second. For most users, this is more than adequate, but since you have over 20,000 users (congrats, that's awesome!) it sounds like you've outgrown it. Still - that's a good problem to have! Congratulations on your success!
What’s the limit if 20k is too much? Thanks
Really good video, it has got me wondering now.
Does Airbase provide a way to host solutions to customers ??
I'm interested in using this for time management (i.e. tracking where in the heck all my time goes day-by-day!). Can I create a Start Time field, and End Time field and then have a 3rd field that calculates the Total Time spent between the start & finish?
You sure can - in fact Airtable built a block (part of the 'pro' subscription) to help you do exactly that. The block makes it so you just need to start/end the timer when you work on tasks. It does all the rest.
I haven't created a video on the time tracker yet, but will in the near future. In the meantime, maybe check out the Airtable Support article on it here:
support.airtable.com/hc/en-us/articles/115013739588-Time-tracker-block
Hope this helps!
@@GarethPronovost Thank you for the quick reply! I don't want a timer because sometimes I will be entering start & end times at night, for tasks done during the day. I was hoping it did something like a spreadsheet where I can enter a formula of End Time - Start Time and get 00:30 or 01:00, etc.
@@penzput No trouble - you can skip using the timer but build the same functionality. Start date/time, End date/time, and have it automatically calculate the time spent on the task!
@@GarethPronovost So this would be something I could do only with the pro version? Do you have a tutorial video on how it would be done?
@@penzput Sorry, I don't have a tutorial posted on this yet, but you wouldn't need a pro version to get this to work.
Your duration field would take the difference of your start and end date/time fields. Assume your Start date/time field was named "Start" and your End date/time field was named "End" - the formula to calculate the minutes spent would be:
DATETIME_DIFF(End,Start,'minutes')
The output is a number value in minutes spent on the task. You could change it to output hours, days, or seconds as well. Hope this helps get you started!
💯!!! 😮wow
Right? And this was 4 years ago, check it out now!
Man, Goofy out here working twice as hard for the same pay.
Like the man said, he didn't know his worth :D
Very helpful video, Gareth. Thanks!
@@DoughboyLover1 LOL! Hilarious man! (and glad the video was helpful!)
Hey Gareth.
Which kind of programs did you use for recording this video?
PS. Great video mate!
Thanks Jonas - I use Camtasia to edit and capture my screen!
I’m assuming this couldn’t be used as a business for customer base!
Are you talking about a solution for a B2C database?
Gareth Pronovost Yes. However I have already spoken to them now. It can’t be done.
Thanks
I saw all your videos about airtable
You very helpful
I am working in arabic countriy So can i name alise filed arabic just Realy name english for furmal

IMHO, it is a revolutionized version of excel
Revolutionary! ;)
Great information. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I wonder if airtable is just Access..
I'm not an Access pro, but I think the biggest differences are (1) ease of use, (2) cloud based, and (3) the ability to automate from triggers. Still, they are both databases, so I'm sure there are many similarities.
Ok so where do i download it free from? If you gotta pay ill just tell my computer tech to make a crack cuz im poor
They have a free version, or you can pay for upgraded features. Check out airtable.com
my airtable why not working ?
my data loading in my app
So basically its Excel with a more fancy schmancy GUI...
404 when I clicked schedule an appointment
Hey Wes - we switched our site to a different host and things fell through the cracks for a couple weeks. Sorry about that - a good link is here: garethpronovost.com/airtableconsulting
I'll get to fixing the broken links in the description ASAP - thanks a bunch for the heads up!
Your nsme pronovost is French you dont needvtompronouncevthe st in your name it sounds like pronovo.
I assure you, were I in France or Quebec, I'd pronounce it without the 'st' - but when in Rome...
Looks a bit of a toy compared to excel.
Do you mean in appearance (because it's colorful), or in functionality?
Listen mate they’re not emojis they’re icons. Jesus at least use the right words.
I don’t understand why people put their face on video tutorials especially when demonstrating how to use a product on-screen. It beats my imagination.
Excellent video. Thank you so much!
