- Translated from the original German. Recorded in Ottawa, Canada.
Based on the song "Für mich soll's rote Rosen regnen" (For Me It Will Rain Red Roses) written by Hildegard Knef.
Video footage is from Wolfgang Staudte's 1946 film Die Mörder sind unter uns' ('The murderers are among us') starring Hildegard Knef and Ernst Wilhelm Borchert.
This was the first feature film produced in Germany after World War II. It was made under the auspices of the newly created DEFA studios and featured the budding new starlet Hildegard Knef. Hildegard Knef went on to great fame in Europe as a singer in the 1960s.

I think it's Tom Waits
Where can i find this song of Tom Waits ?
Thanx
It's not Tom Waits. It's Rene Caron
Het kan natuurlijk niet, maar het is bijna indrukwekkender dan het origineel van de grote Hildegard Knef.
Not even close.
Singer is Rene Caron as stated in title. Also: ua-cam.com/video/W3IGhU8jHRA/v-deo.html
