Beautiful terrain! So many fun points in this video. What's with those dice?! hahaha. At 1:11:15, Justin's point about the action deck being genius is really true. A couple days ago, I played Blood and Plunder and the cards for activation really dialled-up the fun factor. Two forces of 4 units, one reduced to 2 and losing badly. It switched strategy from offence to very strong defence, and deliberately losing initiative with clubs or diamonds. So, defensive response combined with the higher activation points was a superior plan and in the end, with a few spades thrown in to try regain initiative when critically necessary, won the game for that losing force. Although, we jumped the 6-turn rule and took the game to 10 turns. It took longer, but wow is Blood and Plunder SO FUN. :)
So love the ships and nice job with the board!! My buddy backed this KS but hasn't had time to dig into it.. hopefully these "let's play" videos will motivate him!
Looks nice... not sure I'm thrilled about the mix of cards, dice and special game dice. I loved GW's Legends a decade ago, maybe I'm just an old grognard that's resistant to change. Will have to try it out to see if it's worth investing in or have it walk the plank.
With the card system and a you go I go activation makes this game very exciting. the fatigue within the game and the dice condition really makes the game feel like the era of piracy and black powder. definitely want to make my gaming group involved somehow in this game:)
As everyone said, gorgeous board and pretty miniatures. The rules look a bit fiddly to my liking, but gave me an idea: what about adapting Bolt Action rules to the period? Shooting should be shorter range (e.g. 12 inches) and less accurate (e.g. base to hit number of 4+), and close combat less bloody (e.g. retreats if beaten rather than outright elimination) but everything else, at least for infantry, should work about the same, no?
This board is BEAUTIFUL :O
I love how the game is grounded on a historical basis. Good stuff!
Great demo game! The board is absolutely amazing. You've made a really good game look absolutely fantastic. You've obviously had a lot of fun.

This looks so cool and I love the terrain! me and my wife were sad that we could not get into the event that is happening at Gen Con this year.
I would suggest showing up at one of the event with some generic tickets. The Firelock guys are pretty cool, they will try to fit you in, I'm sure =)
