72, just started my 42nd year of mtn biking. Doesn't matter if you are fast or slow. What you like to ride, where you ride, the bike you ride. Just get out and have fun. Take care of you and have fun.
I am 67 long time athlete & a grandma with both hips and knees replaced. Have been MTBing 6 years and love it. I may not be as fast as I used to be.but I still love to ride and get out for a couple of hours a few days a week. Never give up
Age 71 retired. Busted back, arthritic thumbs , major heart surgery , hernias and recent Achilles rupture. Love my turbo levo !! Ha Ha!! That guy is a quality rider !!!
I'm 66 and I think I could almost keep up. If I'm being honest perhaps 30 to 45 seconds behind by trails end, The secret is to stay as far away as possible from golf courses.
Just curious, what age did you start MTBiking? I started at 35 and I actually wish I started in my early 20's. I could have learned the proper techniques much sooner.
Speaking personally, riding itself is virtually unaffected by age. Bouncing back after falls is, as our tendons and such are not what they used to be., so you have to reel the risk in a bit
58 year old Canadian here. Got my first mountain bike in 1984 and I'm still at it. Not sure I could hang with this pace, but I love these trails they're on.
Love it ! Just turned 53 in April and want to get back to mtbiking. Did alot in late 80s and 90s and was always on my bmx as a kid. Reminds me of when i snowboard though, notice some suprised reactions when i take off helmet and goggles and people get a better idea of my age. It's insane the evolution of the bikes and the riding since then.
The late 70’s and early 80’s kids and young teens coming out of that pocket of time will be ripping much later in life than previous gens. Serious convergence of alternative sports in that era that required endurance, fast twitch, balance, imagination, confidence etc….. and being able to do it with the best music genre's of all time played a part. X’ers will be active into 9th decades mark my word. Godbless
Downieville ??? Damn , you're a legend . i'm 77 and ride an eMTB but not single track anymore or fast downhillers , just cruising through the forest . 😂
Been at it on an Off road bike since 1982. Got 1st Schwinn High Sierra and took it to Tahoe on 1984. Never left, Got a Klein, worked at a bike shop and lived the dream. Seen all the changes in the industry. I still Hit it hard but, not as wreckless as I once was.. To live to ride another day ismy Motto..as well as Ride fast and take chances.. There is NO Substitute!💪
For mtb, maybe. Though I'm 62 too, and if I'm still able to perform 100 km in gravel through hills, after this I need 5 days for to get over 🙂 But naturally, this is very depending on the person, and on the training.
So many other "experienced" guys commenting here, I love it! I still struggle to say my number, it hurts, but I'm 61. The trail in this vid is one of the best I've seen in So. Cal. Kinda surprised to see a trail like that compared to what I usually see in videos from that end of the state. I wouldn't mind hitting that trail next time I'm out there if I can figure out how to bring my bike on a business trip! Riding at low altitude after riding here in CO makes me feel like a super hero - there's so much oxygen there! 👊 Big props to the guy riding in this vid, wish I could join you! Looks like a blast.
Don't just say your age, embrace it! I'll be 66 in 3 months and I ride three times a week. I would be eating this guy's dust but I ride as hard as I can for my skills and most importantly, have fun every single ride. Never going to stop!!! 🤘 😎
60 is the new 15! I agree that age discrimination is as prevalent as ever, at least in the workplace, but you're likely to have a very good quality of life in 15, maybe 20 years from now. Keep riding!
I’m 49 just bought a new T8. I used race AMA Motocross in my younger days. This guy is shredding up the trail! Hope I’ll still be shredding it up at 60.
67 here and my last mountain bike had a SID fork, rigid Ti frame and 26" wheels. I went over to the more subtle joys and greater fitness of the road about 20 years ago but one day I must hire one of these bikes with huge wheels and full suspension and see if I've still got my balls.
"Age is just a number " until it isn't. you obviously have not reached that age where your mind says yes and your body doesn't respond . that age is different for everyone but you WILL experience that one day . best not to think about though and just enjoy , now .
60s is the new 40s...so many at this age group and older still ride'n hard and fast. I can remember when I went to the NORBA Masters class at 35 and thought that was old...I'm 63 and still ride hard with the younger guys and gals.
I've been riding offroad for over 50 years. First, when I was racing MX as something to do other than riding the same track over & over. Then I discovered MTB & did that for 30 years, & for the last 5 years, emtbs. My point is that a lot of geezers have A LOT of time in the saddle & have a lot of time to ride. We may lack aerobics, but we have vast trail smarts. Another reason we can shred is that we don't have dependant children who we have to support like most 30 - 40 yr. olds, so if we get hurt, it's just between the Dr. & us (& the ball & chain). I think the biggest reason there aren't many 50+ yr. olds is most weigh 220lbs+ because of living sedentary lives.
I'm not quite as old as he is, but I can still climb okay, even sustained techy stuff. When it gets really steep, I struggle, but I can make it. Hoping to ride Leadville maybe next year. We'll see.
Looks like side of Rocky Peak over Simi Valley. You can see the 118 running parallel. Odd though can't recall a single track running down the side of the mountain like that.
Where is this at? I just Turned 60 this year and never road a bicycle, But now that I am 60, I must be able to do that. HAHA No been riding for years and stopped three years ago, but my Son now is challenging me to ride more.
The problem for people like me (almost 60...) is not to hold up to younger riders. It is recovery and increased danger of injury after crashes, which are inevitable in this sport.
Thank you very much for uploading this. The trail and the view - they look amazing. Really! I was surprised to see so much greenery in SoCal. I used to live briefly in Camarillo and thought that all the plants in the neighborhood are always dry :) Greeting from Ukraine.

I'm 60 and love hitting the mtb parks, berms, drops, and jumps. I'm pretty sure mtbing is the fountain of youth!
Age 71 retired. Busted back, arthritic thumbs , major heart surgery , hernias and recent Achilles rupture. Love my turbo levo !! Ha Ha!! That guy is a quality rider !!!

And have a cooler full of ice cold ones at the end of the ride.
amen to staying away from golf courses⛳. i should have spent more time riding mtb than whacking that tiny ball and wasting half of my day.😥
I’m 63 and like to think I could keep up but… who am I kidding? Dude’s got mad skills.
58 year old Canadian here. Got my first mountain bike in 1984 and I'm still at it. Not sure I could hang with this pace, but I love these trails they're on.
Many riders now in their 60's and 70's were riding back when Mountain biking started and still going strong.
Still going hard there! I’m 58 this year, I havent slowed down much if at all since I was 40, its still my favourite thing to do 🤙🏻
Ride on! I’m 63 and hit the trails 4 days a week.
Nice!
Love it ...I'm 61 now and still mtb ing + dirt biking..
THIS IS SUPER INSPIRATIONAL!!!
I’m 47 and just started back good to know I can keep riding for decades!!!
Great examples to follow 👍💪🏼
Love it ! Just turned 53 in April and want to get back to mtbiking. Did alot in late 80s and 90s and was always on my bmx as a kid.

I’m 60 and had open heart surgery 6 months ago. Just got back from spending a week in Moab, rode 110 miles in 4 day. Old people rock!!

And the equipment is so much better than when we started. Plus, we usually buy the high-end schtuff.
Legend has it that Nick is still trying catch up.
Haha
70 year old here & just did Downieville! Keep riding, everyone!
Downieville ??? Damn , you're a legend . i'm 77 and ride an eMTB but not single track anymore or fast downhillers , just cruising through the forest . 😂

And I'm 60..#WileysWheelWorks
#MTBAlpineCounty
I had a sierra through h.s. & college.
A heavy tank you couldn't kill. Bent hanger? bend it right back, etc. 10's of 1000's of miles on it...
I'm 62 and have been riding for 35 years. I have no problem keeping up. Age is just a number - Never give up, never slow down!
I didn't start mtb until I was in my late 50s, now 67, it just gets better!

Man CA looks so beautiful after the recent monsoons. This trail looks so fun. Great ride w the gramps. He knew every wrinkle in the trail.
52 and always looking for more gnar to smash. Epic trails like this keep life fresh and me young. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Im 60 this year. Just started mt biking a few years ago. I couldn't keep up with him. He obviously knows those trails. Never hesitates. Awesome.
Good to see someone my age going my speed. But don't make a big deal with age. It's the pure enjoyment that put you out there not age. Nice video.
I’m 49 just bought a new T8. I used race AMA Motocross in my younger days. This guy is shredding up the trail!
Hope I’ll still be shredding it up at 60.
That trail is impressive - and so is your friend!
67 here and my last mountain bike had a SID fork, rigid Ti frame and 26" wheels. I went over to the more subtle joys and greater fitness of the road about 20 years ago but one day I must hire one of these bikes with huge wheels and full suspension and see if I've still got my balls.
Age is just a number. I am 57 and ride my mtb every week with my sons, greeting from Puerto Rico in the caribean sea 🇵🇷.
"Age is just a number " until it isn't.
you obviously have not reached that age where your mind says yes and your body doesn't respond . that age is different for everyone but you WILL experience that one day . best not to think about though and just enjoy , now .
That's right, it's just a number, I'm 55. If you exercise regularly and ride all season, it's no problem to embarrass the younger ones ;)
@EmandSz my husband is 73, I'm 67, were still mtb-ing twice a week.
Where in Puerto Rico do you ride MTB? Plan on visiting my family again and want to ride next time
57 just raced PMBAR still feel pretty good.
Gret riding! 51 here and still competing. Actually the fastest right now that I ever been :-)
Good stuff, 57 here and not slowing down, riding different terrain with different people keeps you going.
👌Never to old to have fun🥰
I'm 63 and still doing PR on Strava. This is the life!!
I'm 60 and I can watch this video till the end, no sweat
Me too 😂

Masters class was fast, but with way more experience lol!
Living in Moab and riding every day at 75. (Only a couple of big rides each week)
That’s Dave P from SB! Great guy & great rider!
You got it!!!
I rode and built trail with an 85 year old and he is no slouch! 60 doesn't seem so bad to me now!
66 here. Never ridden better. Keep charging boys
I am 70 year old Realtor and riding weekly....not like that though LOL. I ride Puddingstone in the Pomona/San Dimas area of SoCal.
Stuff like that really gives me hope I can do that shit for another 20 years or so.
That guy was flying for a 60 year old. Amazing how he is that skilled at that age.
jesus i can’t imagine being 60 and riding trails like that, I mean one mistake could lead to hip/knee replacement etc. Thats insane. He’s a beast
If you keep yourself in shape then 60 is just another number my friend.
i am 61, ditto what XCR said. Riding trails like this keeps you young.
I'm 67 my husband is 73 were out on the trails twice per week.

I’m 60.
I find the challenging part these days is going uphill not downhill
😊
Be 55 in December. Hitting big drops and 30’ box jumps. It so fun
he has 11 years on me and still rockin it.
I wonder how he would do in an XC race, where you actually have to pedal uphill too.
I'm not quite as old as he is, but I can still climb okay, even sustained techy stuff. When it gets really steep, I struggle, but I can make it. Hoping to ride Leadville maybe next year. We'll see.

pretty new trail called Freebird
Hell ya! What freaking trail is this beauty?!!
I’m 58 and I ride pretty hard myself. Saludos!
51yo here and anyone who stays in shape and practices often can do this - really the only thing that slows us down is choosing to be a little safer 😎
Where is this at? I just Turned 60 this year and never road a bicycle, But now that I am 60, I must be able to do that. HAHA No been riding for years and stopped three years ago, but my Son now is challenging me to ride more.

🤟
Intense split second dission making run.
It's not the speed I worry about, it's the falling and shattering like a bag of glass!
How about a over 60 Redbull Rampage?
Guy shreds, nice gap jump.
Nick needs to catch up!
Where is that awesome trail?
obviously knows the trail well which is a BIG advantage, having ridden it many times. But all credit to him..

This is a really cool trail. Where is it?
Who is the rider, does he have a channel? I’ve just turned 50 and been riding properly for 3 years and hope to keep going for as long as possible
His name is Dave Phreaner, I don't think he has a youtube channel.
60´S Power
If this is on-sight, no practice riding, I’m impressed.
Not sure I'm loving the boulders hidden in the tall grass dealio. I have visions of traction and big ole hospital bills.😳
Im 63 and ride and faster up and down hills than people less than half my age, on a non ebike.
