Shine a light has always been a favourite of mine but this version just fell from heaven. The backing singers are angels and Jason is the sinner calling them for grace.
Saw Spiritualized the other night and their rendition off this otherworldly classic was as poignant and soul searing as anything I've ever experienced. It was hard to not just want to get down on one's knees and cry. Just... so... damn... beautiful.
things change, people age, but there will never be a show like the '96 Royal Albert show where Spiritualized basically blew the top off of that place. Always thought it was so cool how he took Oh Happy Day and just rocked the shit out of it with a gospel choir and full band. That whole tour was just amazing. I'm glad he's still goin'.
This is so great, can't remember the last time I watched a concert and started singing it randomly during the day, I'm watching this from beginning to end as a treat a lot these days
A similar setup to the Spiritualized gig I've just seen at the Brighton Dome on Saturday 18/5/24. Seen them 6x over the years and this was the best. Top 10 gigs ever! Better possibly for not having a brass section. Backing singers great, lead guitarist wonderful, drummer restrained. Jason's soul was on fire! Thanks all for a memorable gig
saw this tour and they started with playing ‘and nothing hurt’ completely to be followed by a best of collection. bated breath for ‘everything was beautiful’ and the concert in march to boot. keep layin’ down your soul J. i’ll be listening. p.s. sounds so much better when playing over a bangin’ stereo n big screen. oh happy daze. ;-)
Agreed. I've seen a lot of great live bands: Radiohead, RHCP, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard...nobody even comes CLOSE to Spiritualized's live shows.
one band that i LOVE live is florence + the machine. Particularly their old performances in like 2009 of their more post punky songs like Kiss With A Fist or Girl With One Eye. she absolutely darts across the stage and is somehow never tired. If you want to see what i mean watch their performance of Delilah at glasto 2015 (here ua-cam.com/video/KdceK2E-w_8/v-deo.html ) absolutely insane how she can do that and still sing. bonus- shes a HUGE spiritualized fan and she has amazing music taste so 🤷♀️
love how they chipped off the 'hall' part of the Marshall logo on J Spaceman's amp stack. Perfect. Not a huge fan of hearing the entirety of the new record in the middle of this set, but really glad to hear Soul on Fire again with these backup singers and Oh Happy Day is always a joyous revelation. Lack of keys seems a little weird, but still totally enjoyable.
I'm so bummed. I was supposed to see them late 2018 or early 2019, but I became far too sick to go. I never got to see REM live, but I at least wanted to see my other favorite band live. Now we're still under a stupid pandemic and I'm heavily immunocompromised. If "Everything Was Beautiful" ends up being their last album, I may never see them live either.
Me too.. Almost feel ashamed about missing out for such a long time. Was listening to The Brian Jonestown Massacre live cardinal show and youtube told me to finally listen.. And they were right, amazing!
@@simonr1568 already have of course! And yes, just brilliant in it's purity! And that led me to the Dandy Warhols (logically) and their live shows are quite amazing too.. i love it when a door in the world of music suddenly opens and behind it is a whole treasure chest of new gems to be found!
I’m glad you did. I found Spaceman 3 as a young 17 year old while working at Tower Records in San Francisco back in 1990. My world changed dramatically after that.
Too much new crap in the 2nd half ... I hope they dont pull that shit opening up for Queens of the Stone Age..... They could blow em away if they wanted too but Jasons gotten so emo n contemporary..... Damn my old setlists should be worth mad bank
One of the best Spiritualized gigs - The backing singers are ace!
Shine a light has always been a favourite of mine but this version just fell from heaven. The backing singers are angels and Jason is the sinner calling them for grace.
so amazing, you're spot on, I love the tune but this went next status.
We had done loads of shows by then - this was our last of 2019. Can’t wait to go back out in a month or so

Drugs r bad don’t b bad m Kay
Best christian concert ever.
the main back vocal (the one on the left) is incredible
music Always Allows Us All To Come Twogether " Great Post An Opening Song For A Memorable Show" That Shines A Light For Everyone Ta See "
That organ sound.... especially on Shine a light... damn.
Those backing vocalists are unreal
J's concerts always DRAIN me. So emotionally overwhelming but in the best way possible.
That performance of Let’s Dance is incredible
Absolutely the highlight for me - breathtaking, stunning, and so next level - love love love
Definitely. I see and hear the song differently now

I hope they do it this tour
Jason is a gift
Epic in a 'Spiritualized Way' Sound Production is something else, 100% Gig from all those that created this 'special' Event - Beautiful
This concert fights gravity! So good...
Oh Happy Day brought a tear to my eye, not gonna lie.
Whoever mixed the audio for this video did an incredible job. Awesome production effort
Fuck yeah, I’m glad someone said that. The clarity and power are unusually good even for a broadcast level recording.
Amazingly good sound on this. Someone needs a big pat on the back !!
I was thinking the same thing, I would like to hear their mix of the albums.
Special limited edition icepick mix.

Easily my best gig of 2022, & I’ve been to some great gigs this year 🙌🏻 Roundhouse London, amazing 👏🏻
Magnificent, doesn't get better than this
Saw them. Wonderful show
The greatest live band ever.
Absolutely Agree

This is like floating in space! Thank you Jay Spaceman!
Come together!
a good set list. professional filming. The Spaceman. I'm floating in space!
I really liked his most recent very easy going tuneful albums. Sweet Heart Sweet Light is such a gorgeous record.
I think ...And Nothing Hurt is their best album.
Great band very loud live wow
Очевидная фантастика, спасибо
Brilliant! The album sounds even better live than on record
This needs to be released as an album
Jayspay did not quite get recording right live however greatest ever performances
This festival is absolute fire!
Goosebumps all over my body 👁️☯️🎶✨💓✨💓✨💓✨
Just wow! The harmonies, melodies and the wall of sounds 🤌🏽
Best band on Mars!
Saw them in Glasgow.....fking smashing show
the recording and video imagery on UA-cam will never truly replicate the true experience of being at the show itself

The best live video on here...amazing
no comments? oh well. this was awesome
La Sublimación de Jason hasta el infinito. 🙏🙏🙏👍🏻
Check out the rack pack. A movie about the life of alex hurricane higgins. Soul on Fire features on the soundtrack and is awesome in it. Great choice!
Que capo el espiritualaised
Simply Magnificent
FOREVERxx
what an entrance... love this
What a genius...
The best rock star in the current era, and tol ignored. Right up there with mark linkous and on par with Brian wilson. No one does it better.

Touring again next year. Get on it!
The REM you want is gone. get high quality videos of shows from the 80s. Get well as Spiritualized is here and now touring. i hope you find a way.
they opened for queens of the stone age here in the states...never thought I'd ever get to see them. hope you do or did by now.
thx for sharing this
The solo guitarist is fucking great
Such an incredible live band. This performance is missing the orchestra though.
@@bensimbirski7680 I was lucky enough to see them perform with an orchestra twice! Saw them perform Ladies and Gentlemen in London a few years back.
Haha. He can play this music in his sleep now
💛💛💛
Why am I just finding out about this band?
Me, too! It came up on autoplay after Ty Segall.
Me too.. Almost feel ashamed about missing out for such a long time. Was listening to The Brian Jonestown Massacre live cardinal show and youtube told me to finally listen.. And they were right, amazing!

the morning after
What happens to the sound quality right after Shine A Light starts? Such a shame. :(
Yeah I was bummed about that too, but cant complain. It sounds like a set of crowd mics were taken out of the mix (rather abruptly)
yep I was devastated we only got high quality audio for one song. Such a shame. It obvious most didnt listen past the first song
These commercials in between are a nuisance!!!
"Come on....."
do they no longer play "ladies and gentlemen" live?
This guy is a musical genius but was the crowd spiking up too? Wtf
Wooooowww fuckin nice!
There is pod, there was affect and there to beguile rally send me
26k views ? The world of music & art is a fucked sphere if you believe that.
Yeah.... But we can keep em to ourselves

The Prize and Sail on Through; epic Spaceman. Takes me back to Feel So Sad. Lose the gospel singers and drown in the feedback.
Lose the gospel singers you say.
You must be the biggest philistine in the history of UA-cam comments
you must be fucked in the head. feedback AND gospel singers all day !!

The advertisers stink. Boikot
Radiohead drummer or case of baldness dopplegangsterism?
Why is the Frontman always sitting on a chair???? That makes this concert a bit boring after some time....
He stood on the stage for over two decades. He is fighting cancer over the last few years. The treatments do take a toll on your body.
No it doesn’t make it boring. There is nothing boring about spiritualized live. They’re a special band
He's Jason Spaceman, he can do what he wants! 😁
Yet I can sit here completely captivated, just as I have when seeing them in person. Hopefully you’ll understand one day.
@@sahandn9 I saw them in 2007 and he sat down with the lyric sheet in front of him
