Chris is now perceived by my girlfriends as a terrible person. Well, maybe if he wasn’t a filthy serial cheater and dump people when they have cancer, then he wouldn’t be perceived as a terrible person. Those sort of things aren’t things people are looking for in a partner. His reputation is all his own doing. Talk about making your bed and lying in it.
0:05: The fact that Chris cheated on his wife as she was dying with cancer is reason enough he is a terrible person. Grace just hammered home the point emphatically, and rightly so. Chris needs to radically change his ways if he ever wants to get another mate.
4:03: Kudos to OP for telling Lily to put herself first. Lily definitely deserves better than OP's lazy, shiftless son. However, bringing up her conversation with his mom shouldn't have been brought up. Plus, shame on the dad for enabling his son's laziness.
6:24: Never, ever try to force anyone out of the closet. OP probably meant well, but her brother should be the only one to make such a personal decision if in fact he is gay.
honestly sounds like the last dude was goin through a bit of an identity crisis at the time. it actually kinda sounds like me when i was just figuring out my sexuality and was in heavy denial over it, so i hope the situation gets better for the both of them cause it’s not a fun time fjhdhd that’s the time when teenagers typically start figuring out their sexuality so it would make sense
Lily including the conversations with his Mom might strain the relationship between mother and son enough for him to move out. Though I think both parents should have had that conversation way before Lily became the person who kicked him in the butt.
The first story reminds me of my older brother, unlike Chris, my brother is very handsome but due to his personality women are turned off by him. Now he is nowhere near as bad as Chris since he wouldn't do that. It's just that my brother is overconfident. He is fit with a six-pack. He makes fun of overweight people, and his expectations are very high. You have to be a supermodel to go out with him. Maybe a regular model at most, but that is as low as he'll go

First story: None of this would have happened if Chris hadn't kept pestering Grace after she let him know that she was not interested. Second story: This relationship was doomed because of the son's laziness and degradation. He's looking to blame his mother but it's his fault for not trying to get ahead in life. Third story: Yes, brother should not have sked that question of a fifteen-year-old younger brother.

okay for the last story i hope the brother doesnt think its his fault...i think the brother is still not able to accept that that is who he is....i love the op for being so supportful and saying that he would love his brother no matter what..i think this would deff make him feel more comfortable around op and trust op more.
Don't ever ask if someone is gay, you are essentially forcing them out of the closet if they are. And causing them extreme anxiety if they are still questioning. Just let them tell you 1st.
I have a story of something sort of similar happening to me except I had a random woman ask me if I was dyslexic. I was a cashier at the time and we were having a fantastic conversation while she was in line. But out of literal nowhere, she asked and it made me have a panic attack and start bawling my eyes out. They had to send me to my break early and even my manager who pretty much hated everyone at work/ also hated being touched gave me a hug to make me feel better.
It made me so freaking self-conscious that she would ask that. It made me question what I was possibly doing to make her think that, it made me question every little thing I was doing. It was absolutely horrible. I'm already horribly in my head about every little thing I do and it made it a million times worse. Don't force people into uncomfortable situations. It is not that difficult to mind your own business and let people disclose things to you when they want to disclose said things to you. By asking you are forcing that person to out themselves for things they aren't sure of themselves or for things they might not want people to know at that point in time. Let them tell you when they want to tell you.
If you wanted to breach the topic of sexuality preferences you can make comments about others and not your family member specifically. You can just make comments about how you appreciate queer artists like Troye Sivan for how much he helps the LGBTQIA+ community with his actions, words, and with how much of a role model he is. Make comments about how you are an ally to the community yourself. Say you love watching shows like Queer Eye or Ru Paul's Drag Race. Comment about how you want to start reading books by LGBTQIA+ authors so you can learn to be a better ally. Say you want to attend a Pride Parade as an ally and ask if they want to go too but assure them that they don't have to. And so on. This will let your brother know that you support the community and when he feels ready, he will know that he can go to you if or when he does come out.
I personally am bisexual, and trust me we will remember comments people make about the community when we do decide to officially come out. My family member who I waited the longest to tell/ who I was afraid to tell made negative comments while we were watching a show that had bisexuals in it. So even when I did actually come out to this person I came out as gay first and waited a few more years to clarify that I was bisexual to them.

NEVER ask someone to come out to you, they will do it on their own term and if they feel comfortable enough. Never assume. Even if you have good intentions, youre doing more harm then good

It's not like she can help out a lot because she is away for college, and frankly, we can't go around diagnosing everyone who is lazy and incompetent with depression.
That's not how it works.
Not everyone has depression. So to assume as such in this situation is ignorant.
@@sparkyblue7016 I didn't hear her try ask him what's wrong, nor did I hear her try to encourage him to find one. Failure to launches are the fault of the parent. Considering she chose some random girl over the flesh and blood she raised, more likely than not it is depression caused from her crap parenting.
@@InvasionAnimation lazy doesn't equal depressed, while the behaviors can be similar- it doesnt automatically mean someone who is lazy is lazy because they're battling depression.
Laziness can cause depression, sure, because it causes an empty routine. But even then, it doesn't mean you're free to do whatever you want. All the mom did was suggest the girlfriend think about what she wants and needs. The relationship was clearly doomed because the gf wanted a future and he didn't care.
You aren't a baby just because you're depressed. You don't get a free pass to make everyone stuck to be hurt by you just because you don't want to change. I say this as someone who has had depression since I was 9 and seen how depression ruins relationships. Depression is a reason, not an excuse.
She can't fix his relationships for him and it's better when family acknowledges you're wrong and stands up for the people they hurt. If he's failing at being a boyfriend to the point that the girlfriend feels there's nothing to do but leave him, while yes parenting can be an explanation- it isn't an excuse and a fix all reason to everything. People can choose to change if they care enough, and unfortunately he didn't care enough about his girlfriend to make those changes. He did at some point but then stopped overtime.
The mom didn't do anything other than tell a girl she had the right to think about what she wanted, there was no push to leave him and honestly she wanted the gf to stay. If putting herself first meant leaving the bf, it means she was pushing herself to care for him instead for too long.

I don't suddenly become a worse partner when I go through depressive episodes. And it's fair for Lily to put herself first and to want someone with the same values and ambition as her. A good family member will call you out and hold you accountable, not manipulate your partner into staying with you, which is clearly what the guy would've preferred, seeing as the honest truth that she can and should care about herself wasn't okay for his mom to point out apparently

Lazy doesn't always mean a bum, he could be depressed. That's like assuming oh that dog trainer broke his leg from a pit bull. It could be anything that broke it. You are choosing to believe the story of op, I am simply saying there could be more to it based on the info she gave.
He could be lazy, but op could also be a shit parent. I don't know about you but I would have enough empathy to ask my son what's going on at least. In the very first story, all of her in-laws just really need to mind their own business here because they can't force Grace to be with Chris when she doesn't even like him at all. The main proragonist doesn't want to hook or set them up out of fear that it will ruin her friendship with Grace. Chris is 38 years old he's not a child he's a grown man who can find a relationship of his own; he managed to find someone to cheat on his very sickly wife with. In the second story, the main protagonist's son met Lily while they were still in High School together so of course he was still very motivated, but now he has no more motivation because he sees that his girl Lily continues to stay busy and is always on the move while he's just completely stuck in a ruck. He should do the right thing for now, and put their relationship on pause until he figures himself out and exactly what he's going to do because sadly he's only holding Lily bsck. She should've said to her son "who the f*ck you think you talking to with your lazy corny a** " You need to go out and look for you a job or something do. I strongly urge you to go to college so that you can further your education. Don't you ever talk to me like that again boy. In the third story, if the main protagonist's brother is gay that's completely okay just be there to support him every step of the way. The main protagonist assumed that about his brother because he kept staring at the waiter. I have done things like this before too, but I just always be to shy to talk to them. Your brother will continue to love you the same no matter whether you admit you're gay or not. I love you my friend!! Have a nice day!! Stay safe!!
