The video aims to explain the concept of Uniform Resource Locators (URLs)
and the difference between HTTP and HTTPS.
Assalamu alaikum, everyone. I hope you're all doing well, including the children. I trust you're enjoying your learning journey and studies. Today, we're delving into Chapter 5, focusing on the Internet and its applications, specifically Uniform Resource Locators (URLs), and the distinctions between HTTP and HTTPS protocols.
Before we dive into the main topic, let's grasp some essential terms. A browser, such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox, is software that enables users to access and display web pages by interpreting HTML sent from websites.
A URL is essentially a text address we type to access a website. HTTP, or Hypertext Transfer Protocol, is a set of rules governing file transfer across the internet. HTTPS, on the other hand, provides added security through SSL or TLS protocols, evident with a green padlock icon in the browser's address bar.
Breaking down a URL, we find the protocol (HTTP or HTTPS), followed by the website address, which includes the domain host (e.g., www), domain name, domain type (e.g., .com, .org), and possibly a country code indicating the website's origin. Then, there's the path, representing the web page or root directory, and finally, the file name.
Understanding these components helps us navigate and comprehend web addresses effectively. If you have any questions or uncertainties, feel free to ask. Let's continue our learning journey together, and don't forget to subscribe, share, and join our community for the latest updates. Thank you for being a part of this educational endeavor. May Allah bless you all.
