For us, the best of both worlds is a Vitamix -- though it is more of a smoothie maker, not juicer. This way you get the benefit of fiber.
This. Juicers get rid of all the good stuff. Smoothies are the way to go if it's healthy drinks you're after.
The expression on Bridget's face when she tried the carrot juice was the funniest thing I've ever seen on ATK. 🤣🤣🤣 She looked like Lucy Ricardo taking Vitameatavegamin. 😂
Nama J2 is an excellent juicer and sorbet maker.
Yes, quality juicers are expensive.
However, I have had one of my juicers since 1980 and it still works well.
I will purchase the Nama J2 as homemade fresh juice and sorbet are healthy and the Nama J2 is easy to clean.
Can it do nuts for milk?
Ridiculous they didn't include the Nama J2.
This review is from 2021.

@@CerberaLM This review is from today, since it was posted today. No one cares what was going on in 2021 ATK
FYI, I used to do a lot of juicing back in the 1970s. I have to say that cantaloupe and fresh ginger root make the most delicious juice I ever tasted. Sooooooo good.
Every time I think about getting a juicer, I reconsider because the thought of cleaning it out would make me never use it. I'll stick with my blender, and if I really need to remove the fiber, a strainer.
I have a Breville juicer. I use it to make a ginger, turmeric, apple juice. It works very well. I also eat other foods with fiber so that’s not an issue for me. It’s an older juicer so when it dies I will be looking at a mastication juicer.
When I heard the price I made the same face Bridget did when she tasted the carrot juice.
Ouch!
Would have been nice to see it working
I find it easier to eat my fruits and vegetables and chew really well.
Those filters are a PIA to clean. I had one and used it maybe twice. If it can't go in the dishwasher...hard pass.
No budget pick? For $400 I'd rather use a good blender and add some water and/or ice to make smoothies. On top of that, more fiber in the drinks, and less counter/storage space required.
Not every equipment review results in a budget pick. An ATK "best buy" has to keep up with the favourite(s) while costing a great deal less. The other masticating juicers reviewed were either not recommended or recommended with reservations.
it's also far healthier that way, since a lot of what's separated with juicers is the healthy stuff
You really should never add ice to a smoothie, as it dilutes them. Instead, add frozen fruit.
@@CPUGaming You can absolutely add ice. It's just a question of what texture you like.
@@lsamoa Yes, you can add whatever you want, but not if you don't want diluted smoothies.
It's been over 5 yrs and I still love my Breville Juice Fountain Cold XL Pro.
Expensive, choresom, hard to clean, and produces mounds of crappy juiceless pulp : *Juicing makes no sense to me.*
Maybe a video about how to use the pre-masticated fruits and vegetables leftover from juicing.
I still love the jack lalane juicer. Works great everytime
The juice weasel was always my favorite!
Still have and used my juiceman juicer, those who recalled this equipment knows;
although it cannot macerate certain fruits and veggies well, also nuts.
Everything else is so pricey and not affordable to low income households.
So i used the blender to reblend the fibers of the fruits, as to waste not.
Technically, eating fruit and veg in the normal way is more beneficial for health than drinking the juice (even if the juice does contain fibre) - so juicers are for encouraging people who wouldn't eat the fruit and veg whole to at least get some nutritional benefit from them - or because juice is what you want.
For me, I bought the juicing attachment for my Kenwood Chef years ago and used it about once. The chore of cleaning it far outweighed the benefits.
I have both an Omega and a Breville juicer but my favorite by far is the Pure Juicer, but it's pricey.
@suzannes5888
Yep, for US$2,000+, the Pure Juicer *should* be good.
Jeepers. I'd rather use a blender to make smoothies from veggies. For regular juicing of fruits, a hand juicer is under $20. The attachment for a KitchenAid mixer is a little more than that for a 3rd party item.
Why discard the fiber in foods?
Health, vitality and I think I lost it after that. I need memory food! Joking. Lots of fun.
Disappointing comparison. It does not explain, for instance, why masticating juicers are preferable over centrifugal juicers: They push less air into the juice and therefore cause less oxidation.
I have an Acme. It was my Mother's. She used to make carrot juice all the time. I never use it although I love carrot juice. It's a monster to clean.
Yeah most all juicers are even the masticating ones.
I've never understood juicers. It's like a blender... but it removes fiber which equals less nutrition. Also juicers are less versatile and a pain to clean and cost roughly the same amount if not more. Like, why? I don't get it.
I suppose they're useful when you've just had a wisdom tooth removed and can only ingest things through a straw. Or if you're into making sorbet. Otherwise, I don't see the point. Just use a blender/mixer and a strainer.
(255) Shades of Jack LaLane!!!
Hey, can you juice frozen vegetables and fruit if you let them thaw?
I think you could if its hard for you to get fresh. You would still get the stored nutrients. Maybe add some ginger and fruit to hide potential freezer taste.
Yes it be more of a smoothie bowl depending on how much frozen items you use
so short! and no mention of the issue of heat? 😮
A link to the full review, which also included centrifugal juicers is in the video description. The issue of heat is typically associated with centrifugal juicers, but ATK testers did not note any significant temperature changes with carrots they processed through either type of juicer.
@@sandrah7512 thank you!!
How did you miss the Nama J2? It’s the best juicer at the moment.
There was a price cap of $450US on this review.* And how much is the Nama J2?
*It was also conducted circa late 2020 - was that juicer even available?
Let's be honest, you guys are behind the curve. The latest innovation is batch juicing... Think Nama J2, Hurom H400 or Kuvings Auto 10. That's where the market is right now. You guys are reviewing juicers that were state of the art 5+ years ago. Cleaning your juicer is an art. You put through a cup of water before cleaning. Then you scrub gently with an o cedar sponge.
No juice for me. I eat fresh fruit only.
😂😂 l love watching Bridget try gross things.
Jack LaLanne is smiling.
Someone had to pay
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
If you were into eating healthy you wouldn't grimace when drinking carrot juice. My old Acme works great.
I still prefer my manual commercial grade press. I only do fruit not veggies.
Omega is the only juicer with a 15 year warranty.
🎯😂🤣😂🤣😂 Bridget!!
I purchased the Breville Fresh & Furious, and use the juice function. If it is too pulpy, then I run it a 2nd time. Otherwise, if I am looking to toss that much 💰💰💰 at juicing, a Vitamix would be in the mix.
I have a Nama juicer. Love it. It looks similar to the winner. Got a discount from fully raw Christina.
No judgement, but this segment may have involved more than just straight juice. i.e. they seem tipsy. Juice responsibly!
Juicing is good, but we should be eating our produce, you know, the way nature intended. Eat a variety of produce, eat slowly and save $$$$, not only for the price of a juicer but the amount of produce it takes to make a glass of juice 😎👍🥕
My Breville is awesome.
Vitamix and keep the fiber in your juice. It’s much easier to clean than any “juicer”
I miss when Lisa did these vids
?? She still does. But Adam's been doing them longer.
Nama is the best juicer
ATK you have to check the Nama J2 juicer!
Came here looking for more juicer reviews and got loads of unsolicited nutrition advice.
Poor Bridget literally looked like she was going to vomit!
Thanks. I can't afford it. only a wallmart nutribullet. I never juice carrots. It spikes your glucose. Best is lemon, celery, cucumber, green apple. And a little bit of beet root. Make sure you peel it to get all the dirt off.
which model ? and how do you prepare the beets before you put them in? this is what I'm looking for ! THANKS
Breville has the best juicers
Why can’t I just eat the carrots? 2 bucks from Walmart
Nothing is cheap these days.
Facts. Seems like $100 flies out the pocket these days.
No Nama juicer? The best juicer of all time
You guys are usually spot on but this was a missed opportunity…the best juicer in the world is the NAMA JUICER
Silly.
A juicer could be useful for extracting juice to make jellies, but I don't consider juices on their own to be particularly healthy. It's basically flavored sugar water that will cause your blood sugar level to spike which can contribute to the onset of Type 2 diabetes. You need the fiber fruits and vegetables provide.
lucky staff, they all get these expensive products to take home and keep for free
And the crappier ones!
What a waste of time that you didn't include a revolutionary Nama J2, which is orders of magnitude better. Good grief, ATK has really jumped the shark.
Was it available when ATK conducted this review circa late 2020 and if so, was it under the $450US price cap they set?
lol imagine buying a juicer in the first place
ATK!
$400?
This is youtube, do better
This segment was recorded initially for one of ATK's TV shows on PBS and based on an equipment review published in one of their print magazines and on their website. UA-cam is not the be-all, end-all of ATK content. Sometimes you get their "repeats".
Sorry, when I hear "kale" mentioned in the same sentence as "juice", I think of the Veggie-Boy skit from "Cheers". Disgusting stuff.
Thumbs down on this one.
Why wasn't the Kuving slow juicer... test kitchen only puts sponsored companies 😠 is there reviews are inaccurate, can people need to take their reviews with a grain of salt
Just a copy of the Nama J2.
The Kuvings C7000 was recommended with reservations. It worked smoothly and was stable on the counter as it juiced, but it was slow, couldn't take much produce at one time, was hard to assemble, take apart and clean.
@@sandrah7512 I haven't used the Kuvings, but it is essentially identical to the Nama J2 that I've used, and if those are ATK's comments, they are bizarre. It is fast, holds a huge amount of produce, and is easy to clean. ATK has jumped the shark
@@bostonbesteats364 Sorry, missed the part where ATK said the Kuvings large feed tube cut down on prep. It was the motor that couldn't handle more than one carrot, etc. at a time.
Do you even know what "jumped the shark" means? This is not it. ATK tested juicers against juicers (not their first time either), put them through the same tests, recorded their findings and ranked them accordingly. Pretty standard - no sharks required. There may instances where ATK as a brand has "jumped the shark" (ATK:NG?), but not here.
@@sandrah7512 I know exactly what jump the shark means. ATK reviews have been increasingly incompetent since Christopher left. They even had to redo their incompetent review of the Anova Precision Oven. Being completely clueless about what are the leading juicers in the marketplace is another example here
😂most unhealthy thing is JUICE throw away the juice, eat the fiber "waste" if you actually care about Health and not having insulin spikes!!
Seeing two overweight TV hosts extol the health benefits of juicing is... ironic.
Damn that DEAD TOOTH is BAAAAAD
