My first memory of London was being taken to see the decorations that were still in place just after the coronation of QE II, I'd be about 4 at the time. All I can really remember is walking along by a high wall and possibly some flags on lamp posts!
I've identified the theatre in this clip. It is now the Noel Coward Theatre in St Martin's Lane, London. The buskers are performing in Cecil Court. The telephone box has not long been removed. The Stage door is at the back of the Noel Coward Theatre. The outside of the theatre has hardly changed since this film was made. I took some photo's of it this morning at around 6.00am whilst on my way into work.
Thank you for this. I'll have a look at your link. I'm fascinated by this film because I work in the West End. I go past St Pauls, St Martins Lane and Oxford Circus every day. THe shop fronts may have changed, but the general layout hasn't

Superb. Hutch had a terrific voice. The choice of footage is also inspired. I recognised most of the places featured.
