I would need a lot of convincing to replace my Tdr’s for these. I use ethos’s for all my float work ( braid spools) , but bomb or method can’t beat a Tdr.
Way too heavy for float work and not engineered particularly well. I had a 3012QD and a 2508QD and neither was I enamoured with. The bail was easily bent, the handle wobbly and the drag was basic. I use a vanquish for float and Stellas for bomb and light feeder. Not cheap, but they feel like proper tools in comparison.
Fox/Matrix reels. I don't think so. Shimano/Daiwa have so many years of expertise behind them. Their mid-range reels are hard to beat. Not as good as they were thirty years ago. But not much is.
Without the plastic washers to adjust the line lay that come with most Daiwa reels, the "Match" build, the price (half of a TDR), these have to be considered - although a 5500 size would be a great addition. Some find the LT sizing of the Daiwas confusing too, considering they were the company that introduced the 3k and 4k reel sizing in the first place. A Daiwa LT3000 reel is NOT a 3000-size reel.
@@AS-jj2bx Fair shout. I haven't used a Shimano reel (or picked one up) in over 25 years, and was unaware of Korum and Sonik reels needing adjustment washers for their spools. Biggest thing that comes from this is that despite all the technology and claims of these companies, they can't seem to get the basic engineering right to fix the line lay problem before releasing the reels in the first place.
@@stevemccrory9130serious reels are best found in the predator section these days. If you can do without backwind, the best reels at any price point are shimano predator reels: Ultegra FC, Vanford, Vanquish, Stella FK.
Well you have to take some time out to clean your gear ie wipe your stuff pole down as you pack away wipe n dry your reels if it's got wet dry it out when home
Nein Vergleich, bei 200 € Rollen. Die TDR überzeugt mit ihrer Bremse. Außerdem fehlt der Matrix einen Ersatzspule, und der Griff ist auch nicht einklappbar

Plaatic washers isnt exclusive to daiwa korum amd sonik do them daiwa rels massively overated amd over priced shimano way better
