Can Clone High work in 2023 is my biggest concern. The original run was very much of the early 2000s, and the teen dramas that aired at that time. Will it keep its early 2000s vibe, or will it try to mimic what's popular now (honestly not even sure if teen dramas are as big now). It's also why I feel a Drawn Together reboot would be tricky to pull off.
The only teen stuff they could possibly lampoon now is texting, social media, and not any one piece of media such as Dawson's Creek etc. And social media has been made fun of so much that it's tough to say anything new and exciting. It sadly doesn't have much of a place in 2023. It feels like the most they can do with it is make fun of generational gaps like in the Raisin the Stakes episode.
Teen dramas definetely still exist and are still very popular, Riverdale and Euphoria are huge. If the tone is kinda tounge in cheek that it's embarassing how little has changed I think they could totally make it work
Honestly the worst thing about the way the new characters look, besides kinda breaking the original shows style, is that they have no visual cues for who the new characters are (besides Frida Kahlo), which is just bad from a character design standpoint no matter how the design’s actually look. In the og show you could usually tell who the lesser characters were but without being told you would never guess that they are supposed to be Confucius and Harriet Tubman
Ya know the really funny thing about Lincoln being a string bean nerd in the show is that in real life as a teenager he was a brawler and a badass. In those famous 'take all comers' style fights organized in fairs and the like you'll see in old movies, he frequently signed up for those when he was young and literally fought and wrestled challengers. His father was basically a thug who strongly disapproved of his son going into the legal profession but Abraham wanted to be more than his muscle.
It’s so interesting how only 5 years ago I was taught that he was very scrawny and weak, but a good person, but I just looked it up, and yeah, now he’s apparently a powerlifting superhero of some sort.
This show came out in 2003. Then it returns in 2023 on May 23rd... and the trailer playing "What's My Age Again" by Blink-182 mentioning "Nobody likes you when you're 23". This is all just epic asf ❤

Same here, if Joan ends up with Abe I'll honestly be so upset. He doesn't deserve her after all the crap he put her through, JFK is much better for her
JFK may have been nice to her in the last episode of S1, but it doesn't really mean that he will act the same. I have a feeling he may just, you know, do the same thing he did for 99% of S1.
I honestly would be fine if they replaced Gandhi with 1 character but 4 is overkill💀. They could’ve just made Christopher Columbus replace Gandhi since Columbus actually fits in with the og crew. His colors are simple and not over saturated unlike the others. Also Confucius looks body looks so wrong. I don’t know if he’s wearing different shirts, but it looks pretty bad
Oh my god. Joan dating jfk? After abe realises he has feelings for her!? What a perfect way to reverse that intentionally stupid crush! Brilliant. Actual genius. I couldnt be happier knowing this is real TwT
Im worried for a couple reasons: Joan is no longer the one with unrequited feelings for Abe and Abe is no longer oblivious to her affection. this could work but I am getting some Velma vibes. some characters seem like they were added to feel modern like Frida but hopefully she can win over the audience. JF was numbskull but also a jock I think he's going to be given the Fred jones treatment like in Velma. I hope I am wrong and the show is a great follow up as this is only a trailer.
Frida seems like she'll probably be my favorite character out of the new additions, though Confucius and Harriet's designs alone have me a little worried. They're way too bright, and were definitely made to be more modern
I think the switch with Joan and Abe will be good (if they don't screw it up, fingers crossed) because, of course, the whole climax thing at the end of the first season, it kinda had to change. I just hope it doesn't last too awfully long because of course it will get old. (especially after seeing it all of season one. Not saying it wasn't good then, but we definitely don't need more of it)
1:15 brief but Harriet and Joan are fighting over JFK Some theorize that they're might be a love triangle between those three. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
I know season 1 didn't have the best animation, but season 2's animation looks a little weird, feels a bit more like Total Drama Island than Clone High.
I hope Gandhi comes back in the series finale in the most offensive way possible, what are they going to do, demand a shows cancelled after the series finale lol.
Okay, one of the new characters is Frida Kahlo. That's good. But who the hell are the other two supposed to be? Big dude with the blue hair and the girl with the pink afro? I had to look it up. They're Harriett Tubman and Confucius. And that's not good. They're not visibly recognizable as their historical counterparts. Which is the main joke of the show. I'm sure a lot of people hate them for stupid culture war 'WOKE IS BAD' reasons. I don't care about that. They just look super inconsistent with everyone else and they don't jive with the show's style. Frida is good. It's obvious who she is. Her design is funny. Obviously there is a challenge when trying to transpose the image of older adults from a different time period onto contemporary teenagers. You need to make them both recognizable as their historucal counterpart, and fit in with a modern setting. This isn't easy, I get that. But somehow they managed with everybody else. And they just don't fit with the look if the show. The original cast looked very timeless. Like they could be teenagers from basically any period in the last 40 years. The old designs are simple and clean. The new cast looks very busy and AGGRESSIVELY 2020s. Are they trying to appeal to teenagers? With a revival of a 20 year old show? I just don't get the strategy at play here.
the show's big audience was teens in 2020 ( me and and everybody i saw being involved in the fandom for this show were basically in high school or younger )
@@draculaura_keyblade Online fandoms have never been a strong indicator of the broad populace and as a general rule are mostly dominated by students in high school and college. Most adults do not participate in the kind of stuff.
I think they’re trying to make it clear that the new characters are actual gen z, and weren’t made at the same time as the other clones? Like maybe while the originals were frozen, the scientists went “oops let’s try again” and cloned some new ones. That’s why they wear more modern clothes
It’s funny how people got offended over Ghandi and demanded he be removed for respect but forget how he was a pedo and slept with little girls regularly for his ‘spirituality’. But no, this show was the offensive thing.
They can always go meta with Ghandi: "wait, why is Ghandi still frozen?" "well, it is actually 2023, and having Ghandi running around this school acting the way he did is problematic nowadays, and we can't draw any more attention to our high school"
Funny to me that by their actions to remove Gandhi, they're in a way making sure his memory doesn't live on. Kinda sad in a way, but as Frank Sinatra sang, "That's Life!"
UA-cam should add a third option besides like or dislike just for how I feel about this trailer. “I watched the video, and I’m giving it extra credit here, but not positive or negative credit.” Type button. An “observed” button. Because when I watch this trailer I’m definitely having a lot of feelings about the reboot, but not really any good or bad feelings… most just concern they’ll ruin it and hope that they won’t.
i wish they had not just historical figures, but famous musicians. i wish they had Kurt Cobain, Taylor Hawkins, Michael Jackson, Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, the dead Beatles members, Freddy Mercury, etc.

VRC:get out of here I'm going to eject
Ya, kinda like an opera, huh? And I think u meant 1:30.
I reeeeeally hope jfk and Joan stay together, they’re adorable
Ya!
Same here, if Joan ends up with Abe I'll honestly be so upset. He doesn't deserve her after all the crap he put her through, JFK is much better for her
@@MLH_1231 Definitely.
Not saying it wasn't good then, but we definitely don't need more of it)
As the singular abe enjoyer on earth im happy to see what his arc is going to be this season
Gandhi still in the freezer: I’m sure they’ll come back to for me…right ? guys…
Uhhh…
Something tells me Confucius is the sane and rational one of the new characters.
And Gandhi’s legacy lives on in his friends AND these new people.
never forget what they took from us
never forget what they took from us
1:15 brief but Harriet and Joan are fighting over JFK
Some theorize that they're might be a love triangle between those three. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
Ah. Now, that might b a problem.
I know season 1 didn't have the best animation, but season 2's animation looks a little weird, feels a bit more like Total Drama Island than Clone High.
Cancelled again lol
my fav clone high character- vincent van gogh
my fav clone high season 2 character- confucius
Update the RT page please nothing of Season 2 is on there
i am gonna miss the thicker lines but it is what it is, im glad they kept the art style as close as they could to the original
except for joan, I dunno why they made her head more curvy
@@slugyourpal probably because flat point head was ugly
I hope Gandhi comes back in the series finale in the most offensive way possible, what are they going to do, demand a shows cancelled after the series finale lol.
R.I.P Clone High Gandhi, gone but never forgotten 🙏
Frida is a artist I think she painted a self portrait of herself
I think they’re trying to make it clear that the new characters are actual gen z, and weren’t made at the same time as the other clones? Like maybe while the originals were frozen, the scientists went “oops let’s try again” and cloned some new ones. That’s why they wear more modern clothes
They did my boy Gandhi SO dirty.
0:03 You know damn well who he thinks he’s talking to 😅
Ikr 😅
they couldve just reanimated the og series and i wouldve been fine with that
1:11 what have i watched!?
I want Gandhi back
I know, and it’s too bad they can’t bring him back.
The reason i watch clone high is all about ghandi misadventure
It’s funny how people got offended over Ghandi and demanded he be removed for respect but forget how he was a pedo and slept with little girls regularly for his ‘spirituality’. But no, this show was the offensive thing.
wait, how is ghandi the only one people got offended over? they literally have clone of Jesus and Buddha and they weren't offended by them?
I did not expect to see this show resurface. What a pleasant surprise!
Now for Undergrads S2...
I hope this show inspires people to use this animation style again.
They can always go meta with Ghandi:
"wait, why is Ghandi still frozen?"
"well, it is actually 2023, and having Ghandi running around this school acting the way he did is problematic nowadays, and we can't draw any more attention to our high school"
Love Blink-182 for the trailer
What’s the song called
@@chachy7544 what’s my age again
BLINK ON
Easy fix to the Gandhi issue, "I have to go now, my planet needs me" *Gandhi died on his way to his home planet*
Funny to me that by their actions to remove Gandhi, they're in a way making sure his memory doesn't live on. Kinda sad in a way, but as Frank Sinatra sang, "That's Life!"
We're back baby
It’s so stupid they didn’t bring Gandhi back
I saw the origional Clone High in 2003. I never thought that they would revive it in 2023. 😭
I just hope they bring back Skunky-Poo.
I didn't even know they existed until they came back 20 years later, and now I'm 20 years old.
LET YOUR ANIMATORS DRAW PICTURES AGAIN
YES! JOAN DENISE THAT POS ABE! I'M SO HYPED!
So instead date the total POS JFK?
INSERT ABE’S SAD FACE HERE

Ayoo JFK be packing a whole Cake Factory. 😂
If I un alive myself I directly blame this atrocity
Honestly glad they are fleshing out the mad scientist and robot character more.
¡¡¡Waaaah qué emoción me encantaba esta serie!!!!
Harriet and Frida changed so much
Atleast Jesús is still in the show 0:24
BRING BACK GHANDI PLEAAAAAASEEE
Revival was bad. Gonna say this was not canon and just Ghandi’s frozen nightmare.
1:11 IM CRYING
This looks alright and I’ll still watch but Grandi was the heart of the show 😭
“Gandhi.”
UA-cam should add a third option besides like or dislike just for how I feel about this trailer. “I watched the video, and I’m giving it extra credit here, but not positive or negative credit.” Type button. An “observed” button. Because when I watch this trailer I’m definitely having a lot of feelings about the reboot, but not really any good or bad feelings… most just concern they’ll ruin it and hope that they won’t.
they took this trailer off the hbo channel ITS OVER THEYRE CANCELLING THE SHOW
I highly doubt that. They said they would be hoping to work on Season 4.
They said that but now people saying it’s been canceled
The beginning of the video feels so weird because I was expecting Gandhi
The reboot we didn't know we needed
i wish they had not just historical figures, but famous musicians. i wish they had Kurt Cobain, Taylor Hawkins, Michael Jackson, Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, the dead Beatles members, Freddy Mercury, etc.
This show always was something else. Wild to see it return, I’m sure it’s in part due to dedicated fans.
Holy smokes.
Where's Gandhi?
Why does every new character looks like a tumblr oc?
Because the new ones are based on modern teens.
