Wish I had these for new hire training! Great vids. The PMDG model appears a bit off for center line though, in real life I find that you're one centerline (physically verified by the taxi or RWY centerline lights bumping the nose wheel tires) when the painted line passes through either the altimeter tape on the CAs side, or the airspeed tape on the FOs side. YMMV!

Thanks Heavy, many Level D simulators can be off also between either side.

Hey Captain, how do you monitor ground speed during taxi (I can’t see the characters on the cdu, nd or pfd on this tablet)? Is it calculated using gps data into the fms and displayed somewhere??

Ground speed is displayed on both pilot’s Navigation Displays in the upper left corner. The data comes from GPS, if equipped, or from the IRS if not equipped with GPS...

Heya Captain Al! Great Video! Would you by chance have a video in your archives for doing touch&goes in the 747 by chance??

No, I do not, but good idea for a video, here it is in a nutshell. On landing, no Autobrake or Speedbrake, no Reverse on Touchdown, otherwise no
Touch& Go. After landing, PF pushes up the thrust levers to vertical to spool up and says “Flaps 20, Set Trim”. The PM sets Flaps 20 and trims in the green band, then says, “Trim Set”. The PF then pushes up the Thrust Levers manually to about 85 to 90%N1, not full Thrust, PM calls “Rotate” at VRef, PF rotates to about 17 to 18 degrees, climbs to 1000 feet, lowers nose to 10 degrees to accelerate, calls “Flaps 10, Flaps 5 on schedule, stays at Flaps 5, turns crosswind then downwind, levels off at 1500 feet above field elevation...

Would you by chance have a video that covers takeoff/cruising or decent/landings??

That is actually next on the list. I was just going to start more inflight type videos. You will notice though I have not put out any videos for more than a year. Too busy teaching and checking in the real simulator, but hope to get back to it soon.

Great video captain. I hope you have time to make a step by step full flight tutorial from safety checks to termination checks with checklist, ATC and passengers in and out like in real life. Thanks

Excellent videos, where is the takeoff and climb video?

Thank you Efrain, that is a good question. I have not yet produced many inflight videos dealing with maneuvers, approaches, takeoffs, and landings, however at 10:45 on my EFIS/PFD- Airspeed, you can see information on takeoff and climb. Also, during the EFIS/PFD - Altitude and V/S it goes through a landing scenario. I do need to make specific takeoff and landing videos...
