    I have a DJI mini 3p, my 1st dji and I must say Autel smokes dji on precision landing. I used to have an Autel evo 2 v1, and it NEVER missed, landing pad or not. My Parrot anafi would always hit, too, if i used the blue side. Dji just doesn't have it when it comes to precision landing.

      Well in the past I never had issues with my M4P or Air 3. I have been hand launching and catching for a long time so its been a while since I have tested this. I think I see my mistake I only went 7ft and it should be 7meters. I will test this again!

    One minor flaw in your test. You didn't update the RTH position each test.

      Well I did not move. Where I took off at is where I wanted it to land. The only time I update the RTH is when I move to a new location after take off. Thanks for comment!

      @@JandE-TEX-DRONES when performing a test like this, you should always update rth on each run.

    I'm the same way. I always hand launch and land my drones myself. It doesn't really bother me if it's precision landing is not accurate as long as it's within the proximity of the area where it took off from. I think the drone marks a home point spot within the area where it's hovering at. Maybe when it says "the home point is updated please check it on the map" you should check wether or not is actually centered on top of the mat and the home point on the screen to see if it's accurate before flying away from the home point. I may have to try this theory with my drones myself. Great video BTW.

    Possible mistake at 4:01 ?! They say 7 meters not 7 feet for precision landing scoping ! Is it that you just didn't hover high enough over landing pad before departing for the rest of the flight ?

    Great video and test! I saw another video a few days ago that indicated the Mini 4 Pro needs to ascend straight up from the target landing pad, about 22 feet, to properly capture the image data needed for the precision landing on the return-to-home. Possibly in your test flights there wasn't enough pure vertical climb after takeoff before the horizontal flight started, so the Mini didn't have a suitable reference image of its home target? I actually had just tested this yesterday with my own Mini 4 Pro, and if I ascended vertically > 20 feet before flying around, then the RTH was dead-on the center the landing pad in multiple flights.

    • @gama45
      @gama45 2 місяці тому +1

      Yes, that's what I was going to say. Have it launch from the landing pad and go straight up to 22 feet, or 7 meters, not 7 feet and hover a few seconds. That seems to work for me, although I haven't installed the latest update. Great tests though, John!

    My Autel Evo Lite Plus doesn't advertise precise landing but it definitely does. Or once it gets close. It will tell you it's moving over to where it started from. So I can't say Autel has this as well. But it definitely lands where I started. Even on LONG FLIGHTS ✈️.

    I would just like to mention, that the Earth has been experiencing a lot of solar storm activity recently, and this will affect the accuracy of the drone's receiver to calculate an accurate landing position. You can go to recent solar activity to check current conditions. I hope this explains what more than likely is going on. Safe flying, I enjoy your channel. Tom

    I could be wrong, but it looks like you were taking off manually and possibly pulling the stick ever so slightly to the right or the left which can't confuse it's a return to home spot slightly. Also, I apply several different drones but I use automatic take off to take it straight up let it sit for a few seconds then you go straight up to 20 fe the two drones you were using are both pretty good. Sometimes it will not return the whole likelihood on the other hand. I have a Mavic 3 pro. You're lucky if it's within 5 to 10 feet you almost always have to manually landed.

    Move further away from the landing mat and keep your shadow well away from the mat as the drone is taking off and landing. It’s essential the take off area must remain unchanged. You must ascend to 7 metres not 7 ft and hover a moment for the drone to “memorise” the position before proceeding horizontally

    Awesome video, man!!! It’s pretty cool you remembered Dwight’s name. Haha. So, I made a video for this coming Sunday where I was testing something other than precision landing and guess what… crap! I can’t give it away, but something happened and I bet you’ll be surprised. lol. My big question for DJI here is the drone knows it’s coming in for precision landing and when it’s coming down it’ll try to fine tune its spot, right? If the distance is showing it’s 4 feet off like you Air 3 was showing, why wouldn’t it try to adjust its spot? In the manual it says the drone won’t land until the terrain matches it’s take off terrain and ain’t no way the drone would thing the terrain was the same if it took off from a pad and was landing in the grass. lol. I don’t know if that came out right but hopefully you get my drift. I’m not a wordsmith!!! Hahaha. Thanks for the mention, brother and for following up with this test. Oh, that spot you flew at was pretty awesome. I love flying around water like that. The only thing I would’ve done different was I would’ve stayed in the truck. 😂
