@@tanakayawatch Have you ever tried using the oblique end of the graver as your top-rake rather than using the side. You might find it offers more control for certain materials? M
Mesmerising to watch your work, thank you for posting the video! I have one question, the brass jig is a great solution for such a piece, but would it be possible to support the work at the tailstock i.e. between centres? I was a bit worried you lost concentricity towards the end.
That would be ideal, but in practice it can be hard to maneuver the graver with a live center engaged because the tailstock gets in the way of your hand. Of course it depends on what lathe you have.
@@tanakayawatch maybe you could make a longer tailstock bit that provides enough room for the tool rest? Leave it a little oversized to account for a bit of warping when hardening it, then grind to the final shape after hardening.
@Forest-iv5vm thanks ☺️ Yes I’ll try next time. But If you could heard my excuses, I only make parts as repairs, so I work with minimal jigs and minimal risk. I believe that if you are going to mass produce parts, you should take jigging more seriously.
Quelle doigtés!!! Спасибо. Я тоже по тихоньку начинаю что то делать. Много времени надо уделять этому делу, что бы получалось. Это на видео легко и просто.. даже отрезать стальную заготовку не так просто)
Hello,I have watched a lot of your videos and have been very inspired However, this time when turning the brass support,it seems a bit inconsistent.I don't know if this is a problem
Thanks for watching ☺️ I usually decide 2 type. One way , measurement pitch circle divided leaves,in this time use module 0.13. Other way, Select cutter teeth by appearance.
Thanks for watching. ☺️ It will be a very thin part, I wanted to avoid deformation and cracking by quenching. I'm afraid of cracking it with hardening.😢
I do not understand why you do not finish all the machining before the hardening... With your method you loose the centering ..... The jig is not enough to avoid concentricity problems also if you add a support on the right side
Thanks for watching ☺️ That is problem you said. Middle part of it is very thin (about 0.1mm) ,then if hardening at last will make clack or bent. So I do mid of method. If make big a cannon pinion will hardening last. About jig is best now for me. I don’t make same parts two times. Then jig will not perfect but better.
Beautiful work as always!!! No other channel shows how to make these small parts! Thank you so much for videos.

@@tanakayawatch if you make the hardening at the beginning? Maybe the deep of hardening effect is enough. What king of material do you use? C45?
