- In today's DECLUTTERING IN MY OLD CHILDHOOD ROOM video, we are heading back over to my parent's house to tackle decluttering and organizing my old room. While decluttering in my old room I have to say I was shocked by the emotional response I got while I was doing all this. It completely caught me off guard, but I pull it together and am so pleased with the results.

7:49 I am currently doing that, I travelled to Berlin to declutter my stuff which had been in my Mum’s cellar. But so far I haven’t cried/become very emotional, even though I feel different emotions from different items but it hasn’t overwhelmed me yet. Glad to see you’re doing it at 40 as my Mum has been annoyed with my stuff (I’m 35 and I moved out at 19).

I do understand that feeling of being overwhelmed by nostalgia when you go back to your "childhood room"
I moved out at 18 and I still remember the feelings I had when I got everything moved out of my room except for the bed which I left behind
I went back into the room and checked to make sure I hadn't left anything behind
And the room was so empty and it echoed my foot steps and I was stunned into just standing there, still
If you think clearing that bathroom was so emotional and it shocked you...
Just imagine how your mom felt the first time she went into your room after you moved out ....
She must have remembered all the special moments of your childhood in a slow mo movie in her head....
And then for her to realize
Omgosh, my little girl is gone....she is out there in the world without me

You probably should go give her a big hug and tell her you love her and you're sorry if youre growing up and moving out, and onward caused her any tears

❤️❤️ It’s funny you mention that feeling of seeing the empty room, I know that was hard for her, she has told me she just closed the door and didn’t go in. And now having my own kids I have to say, I dread the day when I have to deal with them moving out. It will be very bittersweet. 😢🥺

Aww how sweet is this!! I love how everything is exactly how you left it there! I shared a room with my very messy little sister and bathroom with my 3 siblings.. this set up look much more enjoyable!
That sounds like it would have been challenging for sure 🤪 It was really great to have my own space and bathroom. ❤️ My 3 kiddos will not be so lucky… lol my poor daughter will have to share one bathroom with her 2 messy little brothers 🤣🥴
Im cleaning out all my childhood items now and deciding what to keep! Its sad in a lot of ways especially realizing wow i muat be getting old. But aging is a privilege and there is no time like the present. I do not have kids so it feels like the end of the era in ways but one never knows what the future holds.

I finally watched your video on clearing and organizing your old childhood room. I remember you telling me how strange your emotions were as you cleared out your old bathroom. I understand now as I watched it and even felt those emotions myself, remembering all the years I would stand at that bathroom door talking to you as you were putting on your makeup and straightening your long blonde hair. ❤
It was a bitter sweet for me to watch, especially as I watch these precious babies of yours as they are growing fast.

All of those memories you mentioned definitely came rushing back to me as I cleaned this space. Such wonderful fond memories. And I’m so glad I now get to see my kids have some wonderful memories in this space as well.
