I was in Legally Blonde this past summer I played Pilar and seeing y’all have so much fun performing it and seeing how talented y’all are was so nostalgic to me I almost cried
"Friends" is my sitcom comfort show but yeah it always makes me feel nostalgic, mainly because I grew up in tandem with the cast since I was around the same age as they were in the show in real time, so it makes me think of my 20's and how time has flown by and you wonder how that happened. lol
I feel you. As a freelance designer I spend days in front of he screen but I always make sure go to my gym classes for a break. I really love them, the classes, not the gym 😊 And it’s so impressive to see you and your friends doing the musical reading. You are so talented. It’s going to be a good year ❤
I love sitcoms also and I always cry when I finish my comfort shows. For me it’s the thought of how the cast has been working together for so long creating such a great show and so many memories and then all of sudden that is over and they have to go their separate ways. I don’t know but I also hate the lead up to the last episode because you know what’s going to come

I don' know if you have that possibility in NY, but in Montreal, with the electricity company, we pay the same amount each month during the year to avoid the expensive cost during winter months. Our winter months can get very cold. They make an average amount by months every year and adjust it with our electricity consumption. To give you an idea it cost us around 100$ Canadian per month for a whole year for a 2 bedrooms apartment, 2 adults and 1 kid. Very eco energy wise at that price to give you an idea. Even before moving we can ask on their site the amount of electricity pay by the person before. Another way to make some save is to have a thermostat to control your heat during day and night. Day you should be around 69F when your home, during night or when you're not there, it should be around 64F. If you have heat in every rooms you should be okay. If not, it means you have draft from your entry door or windows. Closing doors of unused rooms can make a huge difference. Maybe it just a financial adjustment for you and Emily.
YUP I did the artists way last year! Its a 12 week program! Just gotta commit to the bit! Also important to note: it's amazing to do the Artist Way with a mini group was incredible and helped keep me accountable -- so what we did is we met every week on Monday for 1.5 hours to discuss the reading and our experience and the exercises and pages and such -- HIGHLY suggest also getting the morning pages book and activities book with The Artists Way -- changed my life! -- I just had to get over the idea of trying to do it "perfectly" and having friends to do it with helped me with that because it created momentum :) Lowkey would also be an incredible weekly series to do!
It's so sunny in NY, I wish I could say the same for Michigan! I just hate the cold too, but I think it's not as bad as what it use to be..lol Love Olive and Bennett. I LOVE Chomps, and I bought a Olipop Cream Soda, but haven't tried it yet. The spare room looks great, I love it. I bet Olive and Bennett will love it too once they are not so confused.
I love sitcoms but also hate the last season! We become so attached to the characters, it's almost as if they are a part of our friend group and we know we are going to miss them! You are living your good old days, but you should be so proud of the way you are doing it! You are totally living a great New York adventure! Thanks for bringing us along! I only ever watch the last season of shows once, to know how it ends, after that every time I rewatch I rewatch up until the last season cause I don’t need to be balling my eyes out all the time 😅
I really enjoyed this episode. Love love love the content about your acting/dancing/performing life- I am not a performer, but love the arts and it's very interesting to watch. Also, you should try the curly girl method for your wavy hair. My hair also only really gets wavy in humid conditions, but I just learned about the curly girl method like a month or so ago and it's been life-changing- I had no idea how much potential my hair had.

Yes, it is a law. The landlord is required to keep your apartment during the day at 68 degrees, at night I think it’s 64 degrees. Get a some thermostats (I got some cheap ones on Amazon) and have them in all of the rooms in your apartment. Take pictures of them and send them to your super. They should know that it needs to get fixed. The landlord is also now required to pay for water as well. They can’t make you pay for it. That’s their responsibility
Attorney here, that's not technically the law. Essentially landlord (LL) needs to provide the *ability* to heat, and if there's no individual thermostat in the unit it has to be 68 / 62 during heat season (with exceptions), but if tenant has their own thermostat and pays for the utility (electric in this case) then they can set it to whatever they want; LL doesn't have to ensure it's a certain temp. (Now if it's a wholesale failure to provide heat, that's illegal)

So, I'm installing electric baseboards in the apt that the tenants can control on their own, and they can turn those on and off whenever they want, and set them to whatever temp they want." That counts as access to heat (since the infrastructure in the apt. allows for heating up to or beyond the required temperature, and the landlord doesn't otherwise limit or control it ) So now, if Alexis says "well, using these electric baseboards is too expensive for me, I'm keeping almost all of them off to save money." Then, by your understanding of the law, she would be able to sue the landlord for turning off her own heat, since her apt is below the leagally required temp. Which, to be clear, is not how it works. Sorry for the long reply, but housing/property law can be super complicated, with entire cases hinging on one or two words of a reg/statute. Unfortunately, incorrect readings of the law, as you've provided here, can give others a false impression of what their rights are. I totally understand that your heart is in the right place, but next time just say "this doesnt sound right, maybe reach out to a lawyer to see what your rights are in this situation and if you have any legal recourse to get this issue fixed "
@@Cherurei1109 this is a long comment but I want to make sure everyone (including me) is clear & informed - the relevant portions of the regulations (within the NYC Housing Maintenance Code), NYC Admin Code sections 27-2028 and 27-2032, state that multiple dwellings "shall be *provided with* heat," and that a system of electric heating provided for each unit can be used instead of centrally supplied heat in some circumstances. The electric heaters must be "of the capacity, number and location . . . such as to furnish the same standard of heat" as centrally supplied heating systems (the 68 / 62 were talking about, which is in NYC Admin Code 27-2029). (As always there are exceptions and twists but this is the general law) So like I said (and apologies that my language of "access" was confusing/misleading, I didn’t have the regs in front of me and wasn't trying to quote them), for buildings where heat is not centrally supplied, as is the case here, heat must be *furnished* so as to make those minimum temps attainable. If the thermostat is set to 68+ during the day and it's STILL colder than the minimums, they should talk to a lawyer bc they may be able to withhold rent and hold the LL accountable! But if the tenants are setting their thermostat to under 68, the LL doesn't have to still heat to 68+
@@cloudchamber-i3h thank you. this is the explanation I needed. I have baseboards, hydrothermal ones, and they weren’t properly functioning. When reaching out to my super, there was no response. I ended up getting thermostats, and sending photos of when it was below the zones mentioned. Only then were my baseboards fixed. As my baseboards are hydrothermal, they are controlled by the building with my hot water. That is probably where the divide was created. If Alexis’s baseboards weren’t working, of course she should seek legal advice, but she should probably also have some thermostats... If she just doesn’t want to turn them on.. that’s a different story. I was not intending to give legal advice.

If your windows are drafty, that might be part of the problem also. You could get insulated curtains if they are drafty they help.

@@Cherurei1109 this is a long comment but I want to make sure everyone (including me) is clear & informed - the relevant portions of the regulations (within the NYC Housing Maintenance Code), NYC Admin Code sections 27-2028 and 27-2032, state that multiple dwellings "shall be *provided with* heat," and that a system of electric heating provided for each unit can be used instead of centrally supplied heat in some circumstances. The electric heaters must be "of the capacity, number and location . . . such as to furnish the same standard of heat" as centrally supplied heating systems (the 68 / 62 were talking about, which is in NYC Admin Code 27-2029). (As always there are exceptions and twists but this is the general law)
So like I said (and apologies that my language of "access" was confusing/misleading, I didn’t have the regs in front of me and wasn't trying to quote them), for buildings where heat is not centrally supplied, as is the case here, heat must be *furnished* so as to make those minimum temps attainable.
If the thermostat is set to 68+ during the day and it's STILL colder than the minimums, they should talk to a lawyer bc they may be able to withhold rent and hold the LL accountable! But if the tenants are setting their thermostat to under 68, the LL doesn't have to still heat to 68+
@@cloudchamber-i3h thank you. this is the explanation I needed. I have baseboards, hydrothermal ones, and they weren’t properly functioning. When reaching out to my super, there was no response. I ended up getting thermostats, and sending photos of when it was below the zones mentioned. Only then were my baseboards fixed.
As my baseboards are hydrothermal, they are controlled by the building with my hot water. That is probably where the divide was created. If Alexis’s baseboards weren’t working, of course she should seek legal advice, but she should probably also have some thermostats...
If she just doesn’t want to turn them on.. that’s a different story.
