In fairness to Sims and gran turismo, it doesn't simulate overheating or power delivery issues in petrol cars either. Of course, these are far FAR less prevalent on the track than sports EVs today are dealing with, but I still think it's worth remembering. Every car in that game is operating at its very best all the time. 👍 This was a fascinating video and I'll definitely be checking back to see how your really well reasoned upgrades stack up to what Porsche is up to. Knowing their lack of outright power chasing you're probably pretty spot on, their Formula E experience will have taught them a LOT about how important battery thermal management is.
@@michaelgomez4994 still haven't seen this happen except for one viral video where someone takes in race damage, on red warning used engine oil, and conflates in race damage (with cool misfire sound effects which is a neat detail) with a blown engine. The car doesn't stop, or explode.
yeah but then look at the price of the Rimac... Porsche doing a massive thing here getting so close to the fastest electric hypercar. Also the Porsche is 17 SECONDS faster then the S plaid. So the price is more then justyfied. 17 seconds is a whole world in lap time racing. Its unheard off to be this fast for such a "low" price in the EV world. so its more then a fair comparison. @@chewthegum
@@Satori-Automotive I'm not saying it isn't impressive or that the price isn't justified. all I'm saying is that the two cars are not in comparable price ranges. price wise.. its like comparing a Toyota Camry to a BMW M5. the fact that you're getting your moneys worth with the M5 doesn't change the fact that its triple the price.
he compared the Porsche with the Tesla because there is nothing else in the electric marked that does Nordschleife lap times^^ he has no other chance to take the Rimac and the Tesla if they are the only cars that are atleast somewhere in the same lap time range.^^ if there was more variety, he would probabaly not have chosen the tesla. also he probabaly chose it, because the tesla was faster then the last gen porsche and therefore naturally became its competitor when it comes to times. @@chewthegum
My brain couldn't make sense of how the Rimac looked so much faster throughout, but somehow the Porsche kept up the whole way and then pulled ahead. That's quite impressive for a vehicle with (probably) so much less power.
I know Rimac reported they had tire overheating issues. I didn’t expand on it but I think all that power plus 5100lbs through a street tire just goes beyond the limit of current tire tech. Seems like Porsche have managed to be kind to their tires through the lap and was able to push them harder in the last 1/3rd of the lap. Still probably had some fall off but not too bad compared to Tesla and Rimac.
it’s not comparable on gt7 lol. especially on nurburgring. a track that big NEEDS laser scan. the size and bumps are not right and could be seconds off since it’s so long. he just put a bunch a things that would theoretically make sense and tested the worst way possible. to properly “simulate” a full lap you would need IRACING or better physics and an ai/ronot driver to suck 100% of the grip out of each car.
The gt7 nurburgring map has been laser scanned lol if you zoom into the track you can see all the small little cracks and bump on the track and the iracing version of the nurburgring is almost 2 decades old compared to gt7s nurburgring that got scanned like less than a decade old which means if anything gt7s track matches closer to real life than iracings And if u want to talk about the physics ever since the new 1.49 update alot of people have said that the physics are somewhat onpar with iracing
