Santa Cruz 5010 - A Great Trail Bike?

- Could the Santa Cruz 5010 be the trail bike I've been looking for? In this video I ride the 5010 at some of my favorite spots and share my thoughts on the bike. There's some good, and some not so good. The model I rode in this bike was the Aluminum D version, which is somewhere around 32lbs I believe. Finally someone actually reviewed a bike that’s not the all singing and dancing Santa Cruz, Carbon this and that. I’ve ordered this bike and awaiting the arrival but was optimistic about the travel. However after the video I feel more at ease. 🤘🏼

I ride my Santa Cruz nomad v5 as a trail bike lol its not too bad actually and seems like the best jack of all trades.

I was looking at the Nukeproof Reactor 290 and 275 elite, but impossible to find in my size. So then I started looking at Santa Cruz, so many choices though. For Sedona and Moab riding I've found my 29er to be hard to turn, and the front end doesn't soak things up enough, that has me leaning toward 27.5, which I like on my gravel bike. But I'm not sure how much climbing efficiency I want vs. downhill slediness.
Yeah, it’s a tough choice and compromise either way. Hopefully bikes will become more available soon and you can try a handful to help you decide. Best wishes.
Interesting.... I tried the 5010 on a Santa Cruz demo day. Always wanted to give it a go - to see how it compared to my excellent Bronson C. Had been looking forward to it for some time and was pretty excited when the day came. Anyway, tried the 5010 and found it to be ..... just awful! Tried a fair few different SC bikes that day - and the one that stood out for me for its awfulness was the 5010. It just felt like a cheap shopping bike. Must have been me, I guess....
Thanks for sharing. A lot of people love the 5010, and to me it felt sorta like the baby brother of the Bronson. Glad your loving your Bronson anyhow!

I have the same bike coming. Did you get a dropper ran through the frame? Does it go through the heard, then up the seat tube by going on top of the bottom bracket? I just need to know where to run the line through the frame for the dropper. Thank you in advance!!
Hey Chris, this one had a dropper internally routed from the factory. Best wish3s with your new ride!

So whats the deal why doesnt the rear shock have the piggy back? I have a custom 2019 sc 5010 cc .. straight pimped.. wheres your piggy? Great review

And this was the base model build I think... likely why there’s no piggyback
@@nickevenson6687 thats what i was thinking. I bought mine as a frame only and only had 2 choices either the aluminum or the cc versions.. it was an easy choice but painfull price. Lol cheers mate
