Thank you! I needed this. I was going to have to hunt out how to find the FamilySearch AI document search thing from whichever RootsTech video I had seen it on the other week. I was just in need of it the other day. So, this is good timing! Looking forward to your next videos with technology updates! 💚
I strongly dislike the trend of erecting a massive paywall around geology (mostly Ancestry). With advancements in AI technology making document transcription easier and more cost-effective, access to geological information should be expanding, not becoming more restricted. It seems like there's a significant amount of gatekeeping going on, which is frustrating.
How else would you suggest paying for the cost of the websites acquiring the records and the manpower needed to maintain and upload the information? Considering the cost of travel to the far-distant local archives, the annual cost of these sites is a steal. One subscription doesn't begin to cover hotel stays, much less meals, gas, airfare, etc.
I tried the cemetery search. It only brings up distant cousins. My parents and grandparents, people I knew are not included. Each time I click the map I get different cemeteries. Maybe because I'm on my phone? But that's all I have at the moment.
I’m very upset about the paywalls on Ancestry! Dna is so important in our genealogy research & to not be able to use the new dna tools without paying extra is very upsetting! Ancestry is already very expensive & being on a fixed income doesn’t leave any extra for the paywalls! It’s sad it’s becoming like everything else & it’s all about the money!☹️
Sorry you feel that way. Making good choices is dependent on knowing what is available to you. I’m going to continue sharing what’s out there on all platforms so you can decide what will work for you. And thanks for the compliment too!
Your video was chock full of exciting 2024 information. FULL TeXT searching?! Wowza! Hope I can find some relevant family nuggets. Thanks Aimee!
Thanks! So much to be excited about!
I found two unindexed Deeds, of difficult to find ancestors! Thank you Aimee and Family Search!@@AncestryAimee
Thank you for sharing these updates!
You bet!

I think you meant genealogy--not geology. These are two very different things (geology is the study of the earth)
@@sharontabor7718 Agreed. We would all like everything to be free, but that's just not realistic.

Good to know. You should send that info to FamilySearch so they can fix/improve it.
Loved this overall look at what the standard, go-to, genealogy sites are bringing out this year. Very exciting!
Me too!
If I join Aimee's Crew, will I have access to all of the previous content, such as handouts & videos?
You will have access to all the previous livestreams, but only the handout of the month.
Thanks for sharing are these available in Europe yet /UK and Ireland
FamilySearch additions are I think. I don’t believe Ancestry’s are but I’m not sure.
Thanks for info
What about those ancestors who purchased family members to keep them from being sold to harsh environments?
Yes! Hopefully full text searching will help you find any records regarding that.

You’re not alone in your feelings. I’m sorry!
private Equity destroying everything
How else would you propose the cost of maintaining, acquiring information, technology updates, etc?
Well, Ancestry is a for-profit company--not a charity. But there ARE a couple providers that are free: FamilySearch and GEDmatch.
Sadly, this is just a PR announcement. (I miss Aimee's wise counsel about how to make good genealogy choices.)
