Thanks for uploading this. I'm originally from the uk, but I used to live in Norway in the early 90s and this was my favourite channel since it showed so many cool movies and the channel itself had such a distinctive name and presentation (cool intros/logos etc). I thought it was interesting how it was basically an American channel yet it was produced for Scandinavian and Dutch audiences. Why was everything so much more colourful and imaginative in the past?!? This is so much better than shitty movies channels around now. You'd never get cool stuff like this now haha.
Hi, thanks for your comments. As we lived in the UK we could only watch Filmnet when it was broadcast in the clear. Just when you were getting interested in a good film they would scramble it. You're right the channels today are nearly all the same presentation wise. I have been promised more Filmnet tapes, but that was several months ago, I think they may have forgotten, but we'll see. If they get in touch and I get the tapes, I'll upload them. Cheers.
Hello Again, Yes, a Gentleman who lives in Newcastle promised to dig the tapes out and I would go and collect them. I assume he's had more important stuff to do. Time passes so quickly these days. If I do manage to get the tapes I'll upload them. Thanks.
Yeah there was also Sky 1 and Sky movies. One of the cable providers in my country used to have these channels in their program list ilegally. In late80s - early 90s i.imgur.com/xasxLlT.jpg - copy of newspaper from sep 93 on the right is channel 8 which used to air content from different channels depending on the hour . These channels lasted for 2-3 years until they dissapeared one day without any notice or explanation - shady as f..k
Man I loved that tune they often played while we waited for the film to start, it was taken from Ennio Morricone's soundtrack to THE UNTOUCHABLES (the track "Victorious").
OMG good old days. I miss the 80s/90s
