Hi guys, thanks for the video. Can you follow up with more info on how deep to set the probe and also some explanation of how to read the meter? i.e. what number are you looking for to know it’s time to water, and how did you go through the process of finding that info?

Re how deep to set the probe: do you recommend monitoring the moisture at the top, middle or bottom of a container? For example in an 18” deep raised bed, would you use the 18”, 12” or 6”?

I'll post an update video soon, and try to answer all of your questions.

I was wondering the same thing. Hard to tell but based on the length, bed depth, and how much it's sticking out, it seems like it's approximately 50% deep.
Still have no idea how to read it though

I thought the dye helped force air bubbles out of the water? Can’t remember where I read that

Works perfectly fine without the dye. I'm not a fan of buying stuff I don't need. Same with the service unit pump. Been using these successfully without either indoors and out. I would save your money if anyone is thinking about buying either. The irrometer alone is all you need.

Can you fill it and soak it in any water or only distilled water?

I've used well water and straight tap water. Never used distilled.
