I’m curious to pair this on a stasis hunter with mask of bakris. And use the 120 arc hand cannon to see if it can clear max resilience after a body shot. Great vid! I will craft this asap.
I just wish it were an aggressive stasis sniper. It doesn't feel very good getting two craftable adaptive stasis snipers before we get 1 adaptive and 1 aggressive, ya know?
Right? Especially with a fair bit of perk overlap between the two (while at the same time Kept Confidence appears to have been limited to an awful perk pool because Round Robin already exists as a Strand HC with stuff like Hatchling)
Don't bother crafting a PvE roll for this unless you don't have any good snipers. Adaptive snipes do less dps AND have less total damage than both rapid fires and aggressives. If they buff adaptives, well then there's your opportunity to try it out
Izi and succesion in this slot. So as you said there is no chance for this weapon. (Especally for strand and statis weapons - less %10 dmg compare to knetics)
I've kept keep away on a ton of world drop snipers, thinking it helps target acquisition / whatnot, so these last couple vids highlighting that it's useless have been a big help.
yeah like i get that Bungie dont want to deep dive on those perk descriptions but saying that it "increases" Accuracy, when it actually just make accuracy less worse on follow up shots sounds a bit misleading to me
Entirely agreed. Perk descriptions need straight up "stat name - stat adjustment" plain text descriptions. I'm playing Darktide now and EVERYTHING is plainly written in the description and it's so bloody nice by comparison.
Bungie subscribes to the "less info = better" school of thought. They don't want everyone using the mathematically best option so they force perk diversity by making everything vague. It's an old school of thought that doesn't work thanks to third-party sources but they're very reluctant to peel away the layers of obfuscation. Only relatively recently did we get more visible weapon stats and they still keep some of those hidden anyway.
actually even 3 stasis snipers back to back, as we got the world drop rapid hit sniper irukandji in Defiance, meaning we got 1 stasis sniper in every season since lightfall
I started out with a random roll and only used it in trials because I needed a Kinetic slot sniper. I ended up liking the roll and decided to craft it. Ensemble and opening shot is where its at in my opinion. I used the masterwork for range, for i felt like the aim assist didn't work as well at medium distance. GG
Glad you explained the keep away thing cause I had that question. I actually already built mine with keep away enhanced but I’m going to make the switch to surplus. I’ll probably keep opening shot but I like the idea of headstone
Good tip drop about the Keep Away perk and how it interacts with snipers. You should do a video on what different perks do good, better, best and Myth/perks people think are good. As it pertains to sniper rifles exclusively
I'm downright garbage with snipers. I often find there's not time to correct my aim before I get flinched. So it's flick shot or bust. I'm actively putting myself at a disadvantage when using them.
That's the part that bugs me. Every other precision weapon I have no problem using, but Snipers just refuse to work in my hands. I'm blaming the zoom levels and lack of precognition that Sniper Mains seem to have no issues with.
I've been meaning to craft one of these and try it out. I love Thoughtless, I think it had headstone too. With upcoming sniper buffs, and Stasis adjustments next season, I'm far more interested.
With all the "Destiny 2 has a weapon problem" talk going about..and having not really looked into it. On a face value look, I'd agree. I HATE how perk selection for snipers is so restrictive in PvP sometimes, that may extend to shotguns too, though i don't play shotties nearly enough. Snapshot-Opening Shot or nothing in most cases it feels. Don't get me wrong great combo, but seems like its 90% of PvP rolls. I love Bite of the Fox because I can flex away from that combo, not suffer too much, but still have it available if it ACTUALLY drops. That, and I love the *crack* sound it makes when fired. Still praying for a decent Mechabre roll going into week 3 ;_;
I use this thing for Gunsmith bounties along with a roll of Mercurial Overreach using Disco (depends on what the other weapon bounties and the element bounty is).
i saw it didn’t have snapshot and that was honestly the deal breaker. but seeing it in game with surplus and headstone, not too shabby. i think i’m going to give this a try. i’ve been getting into headstone perks as well as stasis hunter lately
I'm very iffy with Snipers, especially with my dodgy hands due to my disabilities. The first Headstone Sniper we got? I remember your recommendation & never looked back! But everything had to be perfect on the day for me to use it well. This thing? Maybe it's the scope? Or perhaps its Surplus kicking in I dont know!? But with Opening Shot also on Revenant it feels superb! Easy to hit shots, follow up shots dont feel like you've lost all your accuracy/AA. Headstone is genuinely quite funny in Trials, I didn't realise I'd swapped to the wrong Pulse, got the kill big old crystal! It's frustrating to play against quite honestly.
Thoughtless also gets pretty good handling and stability with Firmly Planted or Perpetual Motion. I'm curious to know just how much of a difference you think there really is between them.
You know what is really grinding my gears with this season's guns? This one has solid perk overlap with Thoughtless but Kept Confidence couldn't have literally anything decent (or even just Strand based) because Round Robin already has those perks, or something? I know a few people really like KC for PvP with like...quickdraw eye of the storm, the gun looks and sounds awesome but it's perks are complete dogwater, no Hatchling no Keepaway or rapid hit, it's like a D2 year 1 weapon kind of bland (and I don't expect seasonal stuff to have raid level perk combo's, but I'd appreciate at least not being garbage). Locus looks pretty good nonetheless, worth a craft at least alongside the LMG and fusion.
I actually have this roll. Admittedly I wasn't impressed at first glance, I only kept it as i always try and keep one of everything unless the consensus is its shit. Might have to give it a go.
I would have this crafted but idk if bungie finally fixed the bug with the vendor not refreshing the red borders each week so annoying but this sniper reminds me of the D1 strike sniper Devil’s Dawn you’d get from Skeleton keys I hope they bring it back.
@lydiamimosa I got a perpetual motion headstone one. I use void lock with that void buddy. When I get a kill and make a crystal the void buddy tracks. Not only does the enemy team need to break crystal to get the res in trials but the void buddy is also tagging for damage and letting me know location. It's my go to build in trials. I'm no pvp God by any stretch but it's so much fun when it works
