    I can’t believe you only have 15k. You have so much content and goes in decent depth in each video. You go into so much detail over the course of all the videos around a certain subject that you cover all bases. I am huge into this subject of hardware, history and gaming. So I do know a lot of these subjects, I like to think so anyway lol. Every so often I actually learn something from your videos, so that tells me you do your research. You do hard work and great work. That’s why I’m surprised you aren’t making at least a 100k subs video at this point. Thank you for all you do, all your effort. In my opinion you have very few rivals in the caliber and diversity of content you create. Many may make videos on the same subject but your quality far surpasses 99 percent of them on UA-cam. Again it’s just my opinion but I watch a lot of channels like yours and I can count on 1 hand how many do as good as job as you. Congrats and I am waiting for the day of the 1 million sub video because if anyone appreciated this subject as much as I do, when they find you, they will sub and flock to this channel.

    Congratulations on the 15K subs! Like others in the comments have said, you should have over 100K based on how great your content is. You are a veritable fount of knowledge on all things retro gaming.
    Informative take on the idea of Atari buying ColecoVision. I was also thinking they should buy them next. I would just love to see a ColecoVision+ as the original console is notorious for being very unreliable (I've never owned one myself).
    I also strongly agree with your argument that Atari should acquire Atari Games & bring all those great Atari arcade games back under their umbrella! This should be their top priority when it comes to acquiring IP - I've been wishing this for years. Some other big Atari Games IP you didn't mention is Rampart, the SanFrancisco Rush games, Area 51 & its sequel, Maximum Force (published these last 3).
    I would also love to see a video of your take on The400 Mini.

    1) Congrats on 15K!
    2) May as well get Coleco next, have the "Big 3" of the classic era consoles under one roof!
    I didn't know they sold off Magnavox.
    That's a shame, while Intellivision may have been itvs biggest rival, Odyssey i would consider Atari's "original" rival.
    Imagic is a definite acquisition they need to make.
    The own M Network (I believe they owned it BEFORE, but they definitely own it now)
    They'll never get Activision though. But they should definitely try to work out a licensing agreement.

    Not going to lie it's hard to name a specific label as a lot of the smaller publishing companies of the era have been bought and re-bought multiple times over the years so hard to pinpoint who owns what on surface level.
    Would like to see them acquire the old Synapse Software and Broderbund catalogues as there are a lot of great computer games there, again these companies have been bought and sold a few times though.
    If they could afford it acquiring and Carmen Sandiego license would be a fun nostalgia throwback to release more fitting detective games in the series.

    • @OM19_MO79
      @OM19_MO79 6 місяців тому

      Taito is still quite big in Japan. Like Konami, video games are but one of their businesses, maybe SquareEnix saw in Taito a way to expand their IPs in other media.
      It’s very likely they are spun off and stay on their business as usual. It wasn’t the Eidos/Cristal Dynamics situation.

    They should buy Coleco and then release their own cart based Evercade competitor, The Lynx III and stick it in a Panther case for the VS model.

  • @OM19_MO79
    @OM19_MO79 6 місяців тому +1

    As for what they should, or rather said could acquire, is really hard to tell. Of course, we can and must rule out the analogy created by this purchase: to acquire the competition from that time.
    RCA Studio II, I think it’s gone into PD, even the RCA brand nearly went into PD until some Chinese bought the abandoned brand, so there’s a no in that part and a big no on the library part. Seriously. Why would anyone want a bunch of generic primitive titles.
    The Channel F, I think some are owned by their authors, some by Zircon (apparently still exist), but, again, why to go to the hurdle of buying generic early games?, how much can the historical meaning be milked for profit?
    The Vectrex (which might include the Microvision) has a huge problem: everything has been released for non-profit use. I’m not an American lawyer, but I think violating that kind of licensing can lead to legal problems.
    With the Astrocade, we actually have all the problems of the above. Some games have been freed by their creators, like Jamie Fenton, others are still held by Bally and/or WB Games (whether they know they have them or not) and the rest are pretty much unlicensed blatant clones of games owned by multiple parties. So, no, too much trouble for Atari’s legal department. That includes the copyright nightmare that GORF is, so, STOP ASKING FOR IT!
    Then we get the competition for the computers, but this one is really easy. Cloanto, RetroGames and their partners own the Commodore stuff, although not the Commodore brand. That Subvert company owns most of the hardware and software from the British micros and the the TRS-80 is mostly translated Japanese software and multiple clones of other games, no value there.

    • @OM19_MO79
      @OM19_MO79 6 місяців тому +1

      I forgot!! There’s one more. That might have some value, not Intellivision-like value but something can come out of it even if it just for one game like they did with Stern, even though is a Pac-Man clone: The Arcadia 2000.
      The problem: What or who the hell was UA??

    • @TheLairdsLair

      From my understanding they were a division of United Artists entertainment group who were looking to move into video games and also planned to publish games for the Atari 2600 (prototypes have been found) but they lost lots of money and the division was shut down.

    • @OM19_MO79
      @OM19_MO79 6 місяців тому

      @@TheLairdsLairThat’s what I thought too, but I’ve seen some videos in which they say they didn’t have nothing to do with United Artists. To make matters worse, the Pink Panther game was going to be released by Probe 2000, an American Philips subsidiary. So this one is a little murky, especially when you consider how it was sold differently in many markets, even Canada.
      It could be scattered or be one of the actual abandonware cases.

And at least they have had the sense to appoint Atari founder Nolan Bushnell to the board and make a genuine Atari fan in Wade Rosen CEO. If you think modern Atari are just milking the brand then you aren't paying attention. It’s a little funny to think that prior to this, Atari USA almost split from Atari SA: if things keep going like this, do you think we could see the closure of the French parent company and the consolidation of the American daughter company as headquarters? It happened with DIC.
