I recall Dan talking at one point about how he was more open to doing "crazy" stuff when he was in his late teens and early twenties, like wrestling an alligator and parasailing off a cliff and stuff. I think he knows he'll survive putting whatever in his mouth because of how he's been doing for years but doing stunts is terrifying especially with height.
If he had more experience probably he'd be more pumped to do so but he's thinking of the WORST case scenario and that would make anyone back out.
Dan's "Physically and mentally healthy high fall, coming in" got me so good.

I love how the actors tried to be serious since they’re working but realized the Grumps are total goofballs and started laughing at their jokes 😂
I love the cast's subdued apprehension at Ethan's crash dive. They make it safe and fun but there's always the underlying notion that they're still putting their lives at risk. “It's not awful it's just wrong.” Then proceeds to demonstrate how it's done properly without the risk of injury.
I love that too. I'm sure some viewers are gonna feel bad for Ethan being told "no, that's wrong" (and maybe it is just his inner gymnast instinctively kicking in) but I think it's super important to be informed of what not to do with stunts like these. Plus we know Ethan is a good sport who listens to others.
Additionally, super rad of whoever's editing for keeping that part in and allowing the professionals to have a say in what not to do. The pirates have even more of my respect for taking their jobs seriously to ensure safety first and foremost
I'm a little confused, though. What did Ethan do wrong? Was it the fact that he flipped forward, or was it how he flipped?
@@blueflare3848 he flipped when the fall wasn't supposed to be a flip. Those things are carefully choreographed so it's safe. A flip changes how far he travels and where/how he falls. Doing something that wasn't accounted for can be dangerous. In this case, a flip requires a higher altitude to give the actor a long time to complete the flip and land in a safe position. If you look carefully Ethan lands on his lower back first. While the pirate lands flat with his whole body. The later is safer and less risky despite being higher. It's also more impressive for the audience. So his wasn't an awful flip, it was just wrong.
"Subdued apprehension" is a great way of putting it. If I were in that situation I'd be embarrassed, but the way they handled it and were so kind, I feel maybe they even gave Ethan another go with the corrections. I love this episode.
