I lived there in 2019 for 4 months. It was one of the best moments of my life. The people are incredible, great students environments, always with new people to meet. The food was a problem but the chef Matteo Is a great guy, always commited with a good diet. I recommend the second floor, is the best one
I lived here for several months way back in 1987 when the residents were largely civil servants and staff from the BBC. It seems to be largely overseas students who stay there these days. The hostel certainly looks better now. It wouldn't surprise me if in 1987 the hostel had all the original features that were there when it was built back in the 1920s or 1930s. It looks much better now, clean and airy although it still seems to lack in facilities. The one drawback then was having to live in very small bedrooms with little in the way of things to do in the hostel. At least there's a gym there now. In my day we ended up going to the pub most nights just to get away from cramped bedrooms. It was a great place to live given its location and that is still a major selling point.
I stayed there twice in 99 and 07. If you look past the constantly blocked toilets and the terrible food you'll have a good time. I have fond memories of the place as I made some great friends and the price was cheap compared to ymca and other hostels

Hey. I'm looking to move to London. I'm just there to work and live. I'm british and 26. Is there many people in my situation? Tbh. I'm so fed up and bored in my town. Thought this could be a good way to meet ppl again.

Is Bowden court good for a student?
The price was cheap when I was there decades ago. Most of the people there are young workers or students and there are some older people who live there long term for years.
