I lost a child friend that summer. Jose Luz Leyva was 13 years of age. We were migrant workers in route to Nebraska for work. The Leyva family were lagging behind and caught in LUBBOCK,TX.. car problems ,resulting with this horrific incident. 51 years later, it still hurts my heart.

My wife and I moved to Lubbock in 2001. I have never been in a tornado but have seen a few while living in Seminole. I am happy you survived it.

Was seventeen at that time, what a mass to go through. I was taken care of my sibling that night when the hail hit, followed by stillness in the air then the winds. Luckey, we had the window of our house open that night or all windows would be shattered. All the wallpaper was torn off the walls, no injury.

I was actually 7 when this happened. I don't know why I said 11 in this last take, except that we had rerecorded it so many times because I kept messing up and was tired. Finally at midnight we said forget it and got the school project finished. Lol! Ugh!

Thanks for posting this. My family and I are going to permanently live and retire here in Lubbock after my husbands 19 yrs of service in the military. We have been shopping around for a home but there were no homes here in Lubbock that have storm shelter when we were shopping. But by the grace of God there was a home available with one. We have several homes to choose from but we have now decided which house to buy thanks to your video! Thank you and God bless you!
