If you turn the steering as far to the right as possible (I do it before I jack the car up), it turns the right front side wheel so far out that its really easy to remove the filter, you don't even need to be under the car. I change my J37 oil as well.
I’ve been enjoying your videos. I just picked up a 2014 Acura TL SH-AWD this weekend. Keep the videos coming, showing support from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 Also, I saw an oil change video once and before removing the filter, they tap a small hole at the bottom (with a nail and hammer or something) so the oil drains out. Then take off the filter when it’s drained, much less mess!
Yes, that's what those drive in used to make me do. I always thought that was stupid af, unless they put it in first without me noticing then told me to start it lol. I haven't went to one in 10 years though, but thinking back there's no way they'd do that.
This is exactly why I won’t let anyone touch my cars oil except me! If you need to get every drop out which is impossible, after the oil drains, pour a little new oil in to flush out the old.
You don’t have to fill up the oil filter that much as long as you lubricate the gasket you’re good. Also recommend going with Penzoil Ultra Platinum next time it’s the best bang (oil) for your buck.
using the same oil in my 5.7 hemi. 0 issues as to be expected. it seems like people on Acurazine seem to experience greater oil consumption with mobile 1 however. Please do keep us updated if it does burn more between intervals.
Crazy how there's not a lot of videos for these TL's to so this maintenance. Just got a 13 TL sh-awd 3.7 and due for service. Got 15% oil life and unfortunately have a B14 alert. Looked that up and it says oil change, tire rotation and coolant flush. Really dont want to pay anyone to do any of those services but I'm not a fan of jacking up cars and not too experienced doing coolant replacement which i know involves BURPING. I wish I had a shop hydraulic lift to make life easier to service my car. Just bought it July 24th 2024 used with 100,115 miles on it. Did you do the transmission video like you mentioned in this video? Do you recommend any services for me to do given the mileage on it already?
You bought it with that low of oil life? I never let mine go under 30-40%. I do oil changes every 5k km(3100Miles). Always check your oil with these, they are known to burn oil. I haven't switched transmission fluid yet, but I plan on it in the next cpl weeks.
You should try the amsoil syncro mesh gear lube for the transmission. My opinion it’s the best feeling fluid for the Honda 6 speed . A little bit more expensive but lasts longer with a stronger film strength.
GM Syncromesh is even better. Put it in my Civic, V6 Accord coupe, and now this. Could also be Im the first owner who changed the t4ans fluid. Bleeding the clutch is also a game changer.
Getting a new car my two options is a 2013 12k g37 wit 100k miles and a 2015 q50 3.7 14k with 90k miles. I like the q50 a little bit more but love both. J don’t know if the 10k less miles worth it.
I've been using OEM, and hasn't been too bad, but still have to top off after 1k miles even after i had oil consumption rebuild. So, I'll see how this does.
@@RevsALot Whenever you get the chance, you should really give AMSOIL a try. Didn't burn as bad, but it's sorta pricy if you don't have the subscription discount.
If it gets bad look into switching from 5w-20 to 10w-30, I burn way less oil now. Given it might not be a good idea if you live somewhere cold. But i wouldn’t go any thicker than that
@AwesomenessIskey my oil is black as molasses at 5k km, and I use full synthetic. If you drive like a grandma, yes, 8-10k should be ok. It's too cheap to not do often and extend the life/performance of your engine.
@RevsALot oil turns brown/black quickly but if u do an oil lab analysis there is no difference in changing oil less than the interval. I just rely on my oil life monitor but I won't go more than 10k
@AwesomenessIskey as I said, if you don't drive hard sure. If you drive hard, your engine will gunk up waiting that long. For $60 CAD and 20min of my time it's a no brainer to me. Car companies know that by the time the effects of such long intervals happen, the warranties are done so they don't care.
@@RevsALot Great video all around. The reason why I say this is because I've seen my former OIC (officer in charge) lose his ring finger from his young days working as a loading crew. It was gruesome to watch...

Ou nice! Congrats on the purchase🤝. That's not a bad idea, maybe I'll give that a try next time. Thanks for the tip!
Kerp them coming brother
Lots more planned!🤙
Clear gloves is like wearing all black Nikes
I use Castrol Edge on mine. 😅
I've used that to add when it gets low lol
"A tune coming soon, so stayed tuned". Nice. lol
🤙
Please tell me you didn’t say start it with no oil in it

@@RevsALot at the drive in ones they must have put it in without you noticing. The top end would immediately make a shit ton of racket without enough

Don't have to, but it definitely doesn't hurt. Yes, definitely going with Penzoil next time. This one was just on sale.
In my accord I used to fill the filter up as well, but on my new car I just mash the throttle and crank it over in clear flood mode for a few secs
I don't think it's too big of a deal, but not too difficult so figured I'd fill it up a bit first.

I'll definitely keep an eye out, I'll be using Penzoil next time. Mobil 1 was on sale and I heard good stuff from it, so we'll see.

Some ppl have that issue. I don't know the fix, but my light came on a cpl times for a short time in the 7 years I've had it.
Download a service manual from google
Some ppl, such as myself, learn better from videos.

OEM Honda ATF DW1 fluid is always the best option for Honda/Acura vehicles.
For automatics yes, probably. For manuals Syncromesh seems to be way better for the kseries/jseries guys who have tried OEM and Syncromesh.

I'd say Q50, just cause the design I find is nicer. For only 2k difference I'd go with the one you like more and has less mileage.
Exactly. I just paid $140.
Had to switch from Mobil since for some reason it burns so fast on all my cars after 1k miles and I have top it off.

Can u use 0w-20 on an 09 acura tl? I wana try. Just dont want to mess my car up
It'll say the recommended oil right on the cap.
Hey, I'm looking for an exhaust system for my 2014 sh-awd TL is there any you recommend that's not too loud or isn't dronie.
If you're looking for a low subtle clean exhaust note that bolts right up it's hard to beat the ATLP.
@@RevsALot thank you bro
Does ur car burn any oil being catless?
Mine doesn't burn too much, bu5 I got the oil consumption rebuild under warranty. I go through about 1qt. in between oil changes.
No need to change ur oil that often. I would go 8000-10000km with full synthetic
