This dress is so pretty! I agree that the A-line skirt is more elegant for weddings & fancy events. The fabric is so beautiful, & the bow is such a nice accessory. It makes it a real outfit!
That dress is so pretty! I loved the note about the gathers around the chest. It was crazy to see how much of a difference spreading out the gathers made!
Yes, I've been looking on Instagram what other people have done and maybe the pointy effect was due to my fabric... but I'm still very happy I changed it!
This was very interesting and detailed, thank you 😃 You did a great job with the challenging sharp point in the centre. I think if you cut the top half of the bodice on the fold, you could draft a scoop neck as high as you prefer for the jumpsuit. You could smooth out the point of the waist piece into more of a curve. I'm probably not explaining it very well, but an obscure example of something similar is Butterick 4281 from 1995. Either way, thanks for the video and happy sewing from Cape Town! 🇿🇦
No, I think I see what you mean! Thank you for the comment ☺️ Love that I have a viewer from Cape Town!! I have to confess, my partner and I almost divorced on Table Mountain because we didn't take the easiest path and it was a challenge to our relationship 😅 We made it, though! (Not to the top, but we didn't divorce!)
I think the jumpsuit in a good quality, solid fabric would look stunning and versatile for dressing up and down and even layering if you use a not springy/summery color. That might help you get more use even on days you're wanting more coverage. But this silhouette is beautiful on you so I do hope you make the jumpsuit.
Lovely dress, Noémie, it fits beautifully. I think the jumpsuit could be fun, but maybe worth a wearable toile first so you know you'll get wear out of it? You could make the neckline meet higher instead of at the point (à la Sew Over It 1940s tea dress bodice) for more coverage without losing the lovely details. Otherwise that fabric would make a pretty (and hopefully practical) summer sundress or even a shirtdress. PS. Loved the bike trip clips, looked incredible! Contemplating finally figuring out Instagram as I'd love to see more vision 😊
Oh, the Sew Over It dress is so elegant!! That would be a good hack to keep the pretty shape but with less cleavage. Good luck with Instagram, it can be quite a time-sink, so maybe you're the winning one by not being on it.
Haha yeah, it's why I've avoided it thus far! But occasionally you do get FOMO 🫣. Also, I know you said dress/jumpsuit but that blue fabric could also make really classy pjs if you're into that... potentially something you'll wear a lot (just wouldn't get to frolick in! 😂)
What a lovely make! The fit is just perfect, and it looks stunning on you, decolletage included. You might like to check out Rosery Apparel's Pansy or Rosa dress pattern for your blue fabric. She does great everyday dresses in cotton. 😊
Thank you so much for this review! I bought this pattern but haven't sewed it up yet so I appreciate the pointers. If you haven't made the Deer and Doe Myosotis yet, I know that I find it a very easy yet elegant everyday dress with not too much party in the front...
@@LaFraiseSews One of my few repeat patterns, and my wearable toile (in a cheap viscose) remains one of my most worn summer dresses... Beautiful in Liberty cotton and in wax too
It looks fabulous on you! I agree with you about the using letters instead of numbers which I do find triggering! Thanks for a lovely video - I’m new to your channel and am really enjoying it. I don’t wear dresses but am thinking of stepping out of my comfort zone, seeing all these fabulous dress patterns out there! Looking forward to your next video
Totally with you, I don't wear dresses very often, but it does give you the little "extra" feeling when you do wear one. (And you don't need to fit pants, which is also a bonus ha ha) I hope you enjoy it on the channel, I'm so happy to have you here 🌟
Love this dress on you its stunning 😍 i think if you love the fabric so much make something you will wear more often. A velvety jumpsuit could be cute for winter/Christmas. You could put a vest top/camisole under it to mke it cosy and cover up a bit. Im also like you and dont like to be too exposed 😅
This is very lovely on you and really appreciate the changes you made to make it more natural looking on the gathers. It was a good point to not make a point lol.
The blue floral fabric is lovely! You could make the jumpsuit in it, but redraft the front bodice to have a cowl neck, which would be very elegant, but also higher so might suit more occasions.
@LaFraiseSews From the look of the pattern diagram, it has quite loose, flowy legs that look easy to wear, but maybe trousers & a shell top would be more practical.
Hello Dearie, as for the jumpsuit, the dress and the neckline they both share, You could make a removable panel with a scooped shape that you can pin on or add sew on snaps to the inside of the inside edge of the neckline to attach it to give you a more modest appearance, you can use a complimentary solid color fabric for this or you can as easily sew the panel on for a more permanent solution. hope this helps Dearie.

Thank you so much, not giving up on the jumpsuit! You're right that a more neutral colour (less obviously summery) could work very well. I'm inspired!

Great idea. I'm really in two minds about this jumpsuit, just because jumpsuits in themselves are really not that easy to wear... but they're so cool!
