Magic Switch is literally magic. It can sound harsh when applying to a singlle track, but if you put it on a return track and start sending all your instruments to by whatever amount suits, it's a super easy way to get a much wider and digital sounding mix without doing very much. I have it set up as a default return and use it for almost everything.
I've said this before, but A/B'ing the effect on/off a couple times (at least three) every couple seconds really helps to perceive the changes being made, especially when they're subtle.
Everytime i watch a free plug video on yt, i become more and more fascinated that all this brilliant free stuff is just out there. Thanks @sage for introducing
It would be great to hear the first 4 bars without the effect and then the same 4 bars with the effect. Then you could really do a "A/B" test and compare between the two.
I really like the plugin from Baby come back. Any kind of fool could see that I was wrong for not having it and I just can't live without it. Seriously though, great vid. Subing now. :-)
I find off to on to off is the most telling. To hear it engage then disengage and “miss” the processing is really where my ear discerns the difference rather from off to on only. I haven’t adjusted my ear to know what to listen for yet, and then it stops, and don’t get the full essence of the processing especially when it’s subtle. In the same way we add a reverb we don’t want to hear in a mix but when we bypass it we can hear what is missing and why we want to use it. When we add it back it’s not as apparent which is why we keep it in. Any possibility in your examples you could toggle back off even for a few beats? (You don’t have to answer just a point of consideration for your already amazing and giving content). Happy New Year!
Yeah, I don't know why, but Sage keeps doing these ridiculously short clips that don't really demonstrate the plugins. Pretty useless as an A/B. People have been making the same suggestion for months.
Great picks! What are the analyzers/scopes you are using to demonstrate the plugin effects (especially the one used for Orange, Valvola, and Gentle Drive)?
open a synth which has a white noise, the analyser should display a linear or flat frequency from 0-20000Hz... then in the audio channel for the synth insert the plugin you want to analyse... and after that insert the analyser
"...or make sure you don’t have any" You will have always some in the digital real. No aliasing at all technically would require a samplerate that converges towards infinity. Excuse me please for answering, I just felt like it.
Nice 👍🏿 I'll grab a couple of these. Can I ask when we send a track for a sample of your master, is the sample downloadable? It's just that I'd like to check out against mine with the meter information 💯
I love a few of these plugins and am excited to try a few of them. Like many of the other comments, more A/B demonstrations would be nice. Also the fact that the vocals change dramatically part way into this track makes it hard to tell what some of the plugins are doing.
Great video!!!!! I remember some months ago you talked about the plugin that analyzes the effect that the EQ is having on the track (used on Relife - Analog Obsesion timestamp 03:42) , I think it was free as well, could you please remind me of its name??? Thanks!
How do you get the visual EQ when demonstrating these plugins? I would love that as someone who likes having something to explain what's happening, and I've never seen that on SSQ before!
Yea that's a pretty good way of putting it. Only thing is that the frequencies aren't really random, but they're every other multiple of the frequencie(s) which play. But yea, adding some extra harmonics to a sound can really amp it up, I especially like using it parallel on drums and bass
I know its a pain, but lets thank the people a SAGE in the first place.... They are a mastering house, thats what they do, and considering the high production value , and also sharing some special tips, Ill quite happily search for them myself , as after all, they are here to be promoting their business. So... Maybe someone else will... like other channels where someone does timestamps, Maybe you could help out and do links? Or, would that be a hassle?
i rellay like your videos but you should rellay try speaking less monotone . i really dont want to be insulting but i only wasnt bored af cause of zhe good editing and cause i was interested in the content of the video
Get another person’s voice though that might be the reason people don’t subscribe. I watch only when I think there’s something I need. Other than that I can’t sit too long listening to this guy. There are other channels.

Imagine if these were all in one download folder conveniently waiting for installation
That would be 🥶🥶fr

Analog Obsession for the win!
I subscribed the second you gave an audio example / sample of what the plug in does

this channel has taken my vocal mixing game to while other level. Really appreciate it.
Kudos to you.

How about a tutorial on how to mix and master completely with analog obsession plugins?
That is a great idea!
That would be dope! I almost exclusively use AO and would love to see someone else's take on it.
Consider it done. AO has been on my radar for quite some time and deserve some spotlight for his efforts.
The "Life" knob of ReLife only works if you increase the input knob, the post on the official Patreon says that.
PREDD Analog Obsession very good
the amount of gems dropped. Sage, youre doing god’s work🙌🏾thank you
Great stuff! Thank you! :)

Great list! Will definitely be using some of these!
Thanks for the video!
great info, thank you!

The analyzer is just the Logic EQ plgin
In interested on the analyser of some vst what i can use for visual feedback in this case Will be awesome to use in Ableton Live

So helpful. Definitely gonna try them.
Liked the track! 😀

Thank you!
DONDE CONSIGO EL LIN
How do you go about getting a visual representation of how some of these affect the eq, specifically the Analog Obsession plugins?
So is orange flavor ultimately helping you getting the mix sounding fuller by boosting those random frequencies?
Yea that's a pretty good way of putting it. Only thing is that the frequencies aren't really random, but they're every other multiple of the frequencie(s) which play. But yea, adding some extra harmonics to a sound can really amp it up, I especially like using it parallel on drums and bass
Can u make a video on acoustic mixing??
How much do u guys charge to master
Are these applied to buss channels or to the entire mix?
I have a real analog spring reverb from radio shack and the bpb sounds nothing like it!!
Great video thanks
¡Excelente Top! Son buenos plugins...
really surprised Fresh Air isn’t on here
That has been discussed before on here.
fresh air is mid
Too harsh
whats that analysis plugin called? the one you used on analog obsession was sick
What is the aniliser you use to show the affect of the eq?
Bertom Analyser
what is soft clipping? is it the same as limiting?
no, soft clipper distorts your signal
Love from nepal
I need a free plug in like bass room
Can any of these be used with vocals r just the instruments
You can put everything on anything. If it sounds good then why not?
Valvola = Tube, in italian
