It’s really sad that band course isn’t on this year but this was an amazing experience for me and made me feel really proud to play the saxophone and meet some of the most talented people cadets and marines !!!
Very good to see, after all the cadets are the future. But does this not show, especially when shown alongside on a live engagement, that the Royal Marine Band is just a professional cadet band ????
This is the Royal Marines School of Music, not any of the Bands of the Royal Marines. The Army has a similar affair at Kneller Hall. The band is just a collection of musicians under training at any one time.
@@historex54tamiya I'm not sure what you are trying to say then. In my opinion (as a former Army bandsman), the Royal Marines Band Service produces the finest military bands in the world. That's an achievement to be extremely proud of. Hardly 'cadet bands'?
It is not a professional cadet band. In order to be accepted into the RMSM they have to audition and if I'm not mistaken and undergo a fitness test as well. Once accepted they get extensive musical education and also PT. They will be Royal Marines you know :-)
I served 88-12. My point was while we always had cadets visit they were separate cadet courses. When performed like on the video the distinction between our professional musicians and cadets is blurred, at a time when we are already defending its existence. The corps of drums for example, which I was part of when joining, there is very little difference between the 2 when filmed as such. I am not belittling the cadets in any means
Well done by all. Great performance.
This is why I’m proud to be a Sea Cadet.
Great to see young musicians learning with the best....
What a amazing performance 11/10 well done to all. Great to see Bugler Payne on parade also :)
Really good to what the kids can do given the right leadership and encouragement
