- Driving the Porsche 911 GT3, Aston Martin V12 Vantage S, and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series is a special occasion indeed. Which is best for the track and on the road, and which one would you have?
These old videos are still Harris’s best work. Driving the cars was the centerpiece, rather than trying to make sense of modern fast cars.
3 of my favorite cars in a 28 minute review by my favorite auto journalist. Fuck yeah.
Gotta say, I've never been the biggest Porche fan because of the looks, but CH is doing a damn good job of selling it. That engine noise is just orgasmic and I love the burbling on the overrun. Superb!
He sold me on them a year or two ago. I wasn't the biggest fan until I saw him giggling like a school girl in his gt3. After that I really needed to give them a real close look. Now I am a big fan. Now if only I could get the lottery to fall my way.
Even though the Aston is the best looking, id take the GT3 in a heartbeat. Everything about it makes me lust after it soo much. Who could deny a 9000rpm free revving monster!!
Porsche= track car, AMG Black= Menacing daily driver, Aston= Sunday's best
aston is spending money to nothing
merc is better sundays car
its my opinion id win gt circuits with the gt3. id put fear in the hearts of tuners with the merc amg black and wear a suit to church in the aston in a better color and new wheels
Ehhh, I think you’ve got it twisted.. Porsche = Track, AMG - Weekend warrior, Aston - Elegant daily.. Even the filthy rich understand low volume. There’s not too many people who’d daily a Black Series.. The ride would send you to the chiropractor twice a week 🌚
Porsche= Track car, AMG Black= Very capable and practical sportscar, V12VS= Both a Track car and a Very capable practical sportscar
My god, that 9000 rpm redline gives me goosebumps.
I was like.. 28 minutes .. ill skip to the gt3 scenes.. and then I fall in the Chris Harris magic .. So nice to watch.
Chris Harris, probably the only Baller who can say, I flew (yes flew) a GT3, V12 Vantage and a C63 AMG BS on the same day.
"...one of those rare talents that shines even brighter."
Chris Harris in a nutshell. Thank you so much for your videos, they are stellar in every aspect that I can think of. Keep 'em coming, we love them all.
BEST VIDEO EVER. BEST JOURNALIST EVER !
Cracking review. Long videos from chris harris are so watchable unlike other reviewers!
almost 30 mins of chris, hell yea!!!!
I really wish you guys all the best! Love the series!

Its staggering that the 911 GT3 is the cheapest here, while being the best, in probably every way, by a probably very large margin.
on a track, undoubtedly. but astons aren't track cars. the vantage is more practical, more comfortable, more prestigious... all in all, on a track, the gt3 is it without a question, but in everyday use, the aston has the edge imo.
As a daily driver road car the GT3 is probably the worst of the 3. The Merc is arguably the best, being the most refined, the steel brakes being better when cold under slow driving conditions, and the Aston is just as refined. The GT3 might be a bit too aggressive for that sort of thing. A better rival for the aston and merc would be the porsche turbo, which is also a better car.
+givemeajackson Some people don't mind having more road noise and a harder suspension for a faster every day car. More people I think will sacrifice a little bit of speed to ride in comfort and still be pretty fast.
Always a blast to watch Chris drive and snicker from joy. Oh Mumbly!
Half hour Chris Harris video. YYYYEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
All nice looking cars, But I prefer the GT3 look any day of the week.
This is probably the best Chris Harris on car ever! I couldn't believe myself when I realized that was gone half an hour watching it! It seemed to me 4 minutes! Thank you very much!
Best half hour I have spent watching cars in a while. Thanks Chris, Neil, Dan and Drive, great work.
Finally a good long video with Chris! Made my day!
"BRAAHHHHHERRR!" said the AMG Mercedes on start up. That had me rolling on the ground laughing.
Your face when you drive Chris is telling everything. Everything !
The 911 looks so good ! I really think its the most complete 911, they've reached a peak, how can they make it better now?? I can't imagine it !
28 mins of Chris Harris, now that's what I call a good Wednesday!! Love the extended on-road footage and bonus points for squeezing a Trigger's broom reference into a car review!
I don't understand why people always hate on the 911's looks. I think it looks utterly badass, especially from a 3/4 rear viewing angle
I'm so glad I was able to actually see the GT3 at this past years LA Auto Show. It is absolutely beautiful. It definitely looks much prettier in the flesh. I love the C63 & V12 Vantage. But there's just something about the Porsche that makes it the more desirable item to me. Oh how I want one so bad. Great review Chris !
Thank you, Chris. To be able to watch a half hour video for free with you and 3 cars of that calibre is a pleasure!
Absolutely! GT3 every single time although the Aston is still a truly beautiful car.
This is one of those moments where I actually wish, I could give more than 1 like. Awesome, awesome video for awesome, awesome cars. Brilliant.
Absolutely immense video for the car lover. 29 minutes of pure, unadulterated automotive heaven, by a real journalist and enthusiast... best part about Drive by an absolute mile... Wednesdays... Chris Harris on Cars.
Thank you Harris as usual you are amazing driver and when u talk and drive i feel like i am driving the car
I'm a bit of a yob, I love German engineering, good looks, quality, and rarity. That leads me to the C63 Black Series as my top choice. The Porsche is incredible as always and the Aston sounds like an Aston. Chris Harris, is
/Drive.
A wonderfully shot and edited video. A prime example why Chris is such a great motoring journo and true car lover. Keep them coming, it's the highlight of my week.
Mmm lovely long video. Porsche sounds absolutely amazing.
Lovely lovely lovely. I still think it's incredible we are getting this level of videos, of the best cars out there, for free!
Watching Chris drive is almost as exciting as driving the car myself; so much enthusiasm...
Always exciting seeing a new Chris Harris video, especially when it's half an hour long!
Top notch, as always! Thank you Chris for existing!
Magic..
Well done Christophe and team.
Love the Aston shape but, I'd have the Porsche too.. and maybe over a lot of years I have become condition to the shape and its changes.. but I think the current 991 model is a gorgeous looking car.. especially in white.
WF
Porshe without doubt. In fact short of a GT, the Porshe would be the one.
I've owned a 911 & a Vantage. I agree the 911 is the "better" car but the Vantage always made me feel more special. You see faster around a track and even on public roads doesn't matter that much (I take my cars on the track 2 x a year for fun) and on public roads they both so fast that you can never go beyond 2nd gear full throttle without big worries to lose your license. So in the "real" world I love both but the Vantage appeals to my emotions more because it turns more heads (and gets a lot more compliments), it sounds A LOT better and I'm 10 x less likely to cross the same car than when I'm in the 911.
What a fantastic video. Better than Top Gear? Yes.
There isn't even room to compare.
What a review! Chris Harris has to be the best thing that happened to car reviews!
lol at deciding who drives what. That made me want to watch the rest of the video. Well done!
the best British Auto Journalist ever chris and hammond tiff
Neil Carey, we have to thank you for such a beautiful photography ! Thank you !
Porsche GT3! The unobtainium of the real world and the PC Sim world! Something has got to give, I want to drive one so freaking bad! Oh great segment as usual Chris!
Shots with camera mounted over shoulder are amazing, please do more of that!
30 minutes of Chris on our hump day - THANK YOU!
Chris Harris is so good at this. I love these videos!
Nothing better than a near half hour review by Chris Harris, with three exceptional cars.
CH is a magician. His ability behind the wheel is matched by his ability to describe in a most engaging way what he is doing and feeling.
Wednesday is now officially my favourite day of the week thanks to Chris Harris and Drive. Hell, I'd propably love mondays too if this was uploaded that day weekly. Extra kudos thanks to the thorough analyzing of the cars and the lenght of the video, worth a wait.
Chris you are amazing. u have no idea how excited we feel everytime you make a new video. the gt3 is simply stunning. u have the best job in the world buddy
This was one of the best videos in a while because a) you've finally tested these (utterly awesome) cars one a welsh b-road as you did in older videos and b) because it felt much more passionate than latest releases.... all in all awesome work from our most favourite hoonigan!!
Yet another great episode with Mr. Harris. Paddle shifters be damned. I'd take the Aston Martin V12 Vantage, the non-S model, because of the availability of a manual gearbox. Plus its a great GT car that can also do track duty. You just can't beat a V12 and rear wheel drive combo. Plus the looks alone would have me take one over both of the them. The Porsche is a precision track machine that really belongs on the track and of you are gonna go down the route of speed, why not just get the GTR for cheap and keep the Aston for everything else :p
Chris' face expressions 13:30- 13:38... PRICELESS!! after that face you know what the final decision will be! great review, beautiful cars, thanks!!!
Drive please give Chris at least half hour maybe an hour to do reviews an u could take on top gear. It's worth thinking about coz this was the best thing I've seen all year. He is the reason u have so many subscribers!! Great job as always Chris
I see 28 minutes worth of Chris Harris, no matter what the content, today should be a good day haha!
I really enjoy these videos a lot. Side by side comparisons on road and track. I want more like this. Your normal videos of good sideways hoonery on a track is all good and fun, but I really enjoy seeing how these extraordinary cars are in ordinary situations as well.
Brilliant video, like always, and almost half an hour long! Many thanks for that!
Different verdict for me, though. Aston, Merc, Porsche. In that order. Simply because I live in Germany and am bored to death by 911s. The GT3 is the best car, no doubt about it, but I'd still go for looks instead of speed.
Now, where's that money I remember I had when I woke up this morning? Oh, wait...
30 minute Chris Harris video, day made.
Excellent episode, perhaps the best yet. Videography... simply stunning
This video added reason for me to get my v12 vantages s. So informative yet entertaining. It has details, sounds, and emotion in buckets. I have watched this over and over! True car enthusiasts, try watching this video wearing good quality headphones with an open can of motor oil and having melted some plastic to add to the senses and try not to smile!! Impossible..😋🙃
As soon as the gt3 came on track I knew it was the favorite. How do you deny that engine!!! It's amazing!
Oh and fabulous work guys - I've been hanging out for the kids to go to bed so I can watch it and I am a fulfilled petrol head :-)
I love these longer /Drive videos !!!
Really thank you for this. I was waiting for a second episode of this type of video. The best with the GT3RS, BMW M3 GTS, and the C63 AMG. Really loved it
13:32 favorite Chris Harris moment. From the nauseated facial expression to the head shake of disbelief, this moment is far too good
That was some of the most cogent, well produced, involved, involving, inspirational and .... overt pleas for a long-term tester - I've had the pleasure to watch. Well done sir(s). Do let us know if and when it bears any fruit (lol!). Oh and, do try to dress your age, won't you Dan?
is it sad i wait every wednesday nights for harris's new vid?
Best car journo bar none.
P1 next week ........................
I can't wait for the P1 review either. It's going to be a classic for sure.
Superb film. Well shot, edited. Oh, and a classic Rowan Atkinson face at 13:32 :)
13:34 .. absolutely priceless. Wonderful stuff Chris
It's amazing that in a group test the Porsche is actually the least expensive one for once. And the best of the bunch as well, total win-win for Porsche. Go GT3!!
Three exciting and very capable cars, would happily own any one of them. Great job as always Chris.
Awesome video and great cars. Really digging Chris' driving as well, he's very quick when posting lap times and when it comes to doing sideways stuff he's totally calm and collected. Wish I could drive like you can mate!
Just imagine how the 991 GT3 RS (4.0 maybe) will perform, what could they improve even more. What a special car.
The flickering of the LEDs during those slow motion drift shots are amazing. Also, Porsche
Thank you guys. This truly did brighten my day from a low point. Thank you.
I'd take the GT3 with its screaming 9000rpm engine and brilliant chassis but would be more than happy with either the Aston or the Merc.
Oh great great review Chris, you really are spoiling us! Really great to see a review that takes the time to cover the cars on road & track and get feedback as to what they'd be like as daily drives.
Epic epic epic - the way that all car vids should be done!
Thank you.
Great work, Chris! The Porsche could sell on it's steering wheel alone. It's such a thing of beauty.
I'll tell you what, these vids aren't getting worse. Killer as usual!
Brilliant. Thought provoking vids with huge skids, love it.
Now that's more like it DRIVE... These types of (brilliant, entertaining, informative) videos are precisely what got me hooked on your network some time ago! Chris is simply the best at his trade, and he (and his crew) really did a super job with this video/concept... Please, may I have another, soon!!!
Three of my most beloved cars, beautiful British countyside, eloquent and likeable host, information paired with emotion... /Drive and especially the segment "Chris Harris on cars" is the motoring show that Top Gear could´ve been. I´m just gutted beyond belief I have discovered this show only very recently, and I kind of feel that my love for Top Gear was vastly bigger than their quality justifies.
Again, the choice of cars in this video are to me what a joint concert of The Beatles, Elvis and Mozart would be to a music enthusiast. They fill me with joy, to the brim.
Fantastic episode. That flat six howl! I would be a happy, happy man if car engines only came with cylinder counts that were multiples of 3; good lord do they sound orgasmic at full tilt!
Chris: please keep making longer videos like this! Your best videos are the ones where you put cars on public roads as well as the circuit and really spend some time communicating what it's like to drive the cars. Your ability to distill handling characteristics into a monologue that travels well over fibre optics is your strongest suit. It's always fun watching you hoon, but it's the descriptive stuff that you do much better than other auto journalists. Please keep doing plenty of it!
Finally the Longer Chris Harris Reviews are BACK!!!
Now...THAT i call a proper review-really enjoyed it a lot!!
You guys really are making the best automotive content on the web, great show.
Neeeiiiilllllllllll! Such nice shots. Love the culture of acknowledging people not always on screen that CHOC has. ...actually, I think it's there in most all /Drive stuff. Feels like family.
Automotive journalism/hooning perfections. Thanks Chris and everyone else @/Drive
This was amazing! It's really up there with the best videos you've made, and that says it all I think.
Another great review from Chris Harris. Lots of detail on each car and still fun to watch. The Mercedes is now under £100k used so a much more compelling argument given the 991 GT3 is £120k++
30 mins of Chris Harris! That's just like Christmas!
Awesome verdict at the end ^^ great video!
Top Gear always leaves me so cold because it very rarely reviews cars.
It's a good job you provide us with information, and have fun in in the most recent and interesting cars, while being very entertaining.
Never stop you're style like the others have.
wow one of those very special reviews well done Chris !
probably take the GT3 factor in the price
otherwise V12 Vantage S
and again chris drives cars in way cars should be driven. respect!
GT3 - what an ASTOUNDING engine sound! Perfect!
Drive is on a roll today. So much goodness.
